I never pre ordered a game at best buy before, but today i was there and saw the pre order box for Lost Odyssey and saw that you get exclusive content when you pre order.
So i thought, eh why not! and got it.
i usually pre order at gamestop, so i was confused when i got home and the pre order case was actually in my bag. I thought it was a mistake at first, then i opened the case and the code for the exclusive content was already in there.
i think ill pre order from there more often so i can start decorating my game room with cool game cases XD

Its not like Best Buy did anything different. Lost Odyssey came with a free gift where not every game does. Most games come with a gift purchase after your preorder, but this came with a gift with Preorder.

gamestop never gave me a game case before...and my best buy always has pre orders with game cases and something in them a friend told me, its not always bonus content but its usually something decent he said, and you always get the game case thingy, thats the main difference to me which as a gamer with alot of game decorationg in my game room, would be why i like this.

Really? Is it just your Gamestop then? The gamestop my friend works at does that sometimes, and my Gamecrazy always does. Especially with LO since it comes with a gift when you PO it.

My Gamestop never has

Than maybe its just my Gamecrazy. Go figure.

Best Buy and Future Shop up here (Canuckistan, they're also the same base company) generally have very limited pre-orders. They do tend to get the gifts though, and also tend to give them out to people who don't necessarily pre-order (ie, I got the Assassin's Creed baseball cap even though I bought it like 3 days after it came out)

When I was store manager of a GameStop, I always gave out a game case with the box art for every preorder. However, it isn't natural store procedure to do so. I did it because at GameStop, it is necessary for every store to meet company standards, and I found that by actually offering something tangible, more people reserved. I can't remember how many times before I became a manager that people reserved something and either forgot what they reserved, or forgot they even reserved something because they didn't have anything except a receipt.

The free gifts we always gave out though when they were offered with reserves, but even for those without some bonus feature, I gave them a nice case with real box art and everything.

Don't forget to pick up your Devil May Cry 4 Art Book if you reserved it. It is actually pretty damn cool.

yeah my gamestop never did that, and if something came with the pre order i usually didnt get it until i picked up the game, cept once at babbages before it became gamestop, i was supposed to get a calendar for a wrestling game but they were all out so they let me choose from some other stuff. But i like the box art thing, its no big deal but its small and cool enough to make me go back again and get some more decorations going in my Dual HDTV game room, nice havin a new room mate who is gettin another HD and xbox so we can play side by side.

The downside to Best Buy preorders is they don't actually hold a copy for you. You just go in on the day of release, pick the game up, show them your recent, and they basically "return" your preorder and check out you for the game.

Best Buy usually has a billion copies of new games, though, so availability is pretty much never an issue.

I know that Circuit City gives out something like a 10 dollar gift card with the Smash Brothers preorder when you pick it up. So that's something to look into.
