Evergrey and Nevermore in nova

I just can't see anything negative religion in the entire album... Maybe I'm missing something? It's hard to swallow that such a good guy would bold face lie to one of us or to good a musician to not understand his own writings =/

Well I'm thinking one of us probably just misunderstood what he said, or didn't get into it deep enough with him. I myself only spoke with him and Rikard for about 5 mins, then I went off to hang with Jim and Warrel :lol:

I haven't listened to the album in a few months, but I know a lot of it is about child abuse and manipulation by the church. Let's look at a few quotes real fast.

From A touch of Blessing

"Mislead by beauty
One you rarely find
So loving and friendly
It's one of a kind

Their arms wide open
Willing to take me in
No doubts in choosing
A world free from sin"

Here you can see that the individual was clearly led to believe something which, although looked nice, was not true. And this is what they got for it;

"Drowning in betrayals river
The freezing cold will make you shiver
Join the world of greater learning
Crown me king and be my servants"

A world of betrayal and servitude.

Then from Ambassador it's basically the point of view (insanely distorted) of a 'Prophet' leading his cult - think Waco etc;

"I am
Light to cast away shadows
The Spirit, Holy Ghost, and even Jesus
God walking earth
Ambassador"

From a religious person this would be blasphemous in the extreme, and this is coming from the leader of whatever group so it's obvious they are mindblowingly manipulative.

You can see themes of child molestation by religious figures in other songs on the album too.

Also from start to finish there's the whole theme of walls put up by religion, then the last track is "When the Walls come down".

Anyhow I'm not trying to lecture, basically that's just the way I see the album and based on what I've heard from him I think it's correct.

Made me LOL it's so true! Stratovarius, Kamelot, Sonata Arctica, Nightwish... Lol so very true... But i like em a lot...

Anyways, Evergrey was here last november, and, honestly, it was one of the best gig's i've been to. Very heavy, awesome.

December held Kamelot & Epica here in Rio, and that was, as well, one of the best shows i've been to.

I'm a BIG Kamelot, Evergrey, Sonata, Strato fan, so last year was awesome, since 3 out of the 4 bands came to brazil.
