Totally forgot that was today.

And Pakistan has apparently already blocked Facebook and Youtube.

Google should still be safe...

I'm not much of a cartoonist, but here's my contribution for the fundamentalists to enjoy.

So whose idea was it to make a day that specifically designed to troll a bunch of people?

Does pakistan know that there are pictures of Muhammed on wikipedia?

And to those of you demanding less hammed, I say thee nay!!

This is Muhammed. He lives down the street from me. He may or may not have ever been a prophet over the course of the preceding millennium or so.

Oops! My bad . . .

Ya know? Come to think of it, it's odd that ya never see Muhammed and Mecha-Thor in the same place at the same time . . .

And to any Muslims that are angered by this, remember - this is the same society where Christians have already lived through Piss Christ, a society that, on its better days, remembers that respecting someone's religious beliefs is a courtesy extended by the individual, not a universally accepted holy decree.

The sad thing is that (American) society is hardly about respect of any form, let alone respect of others' beliefs, anymore. Any attempts to even ask for respect on any level is almost invariably going to result in someone shouting "thayre takin ahr freedumz" from the rooftops like some jackass.

I did not, will not, ever condone "Everybody Draw Muhummad Day" in much the same manner as I wouldn't condone "Everybody Draw Jehovah Day" or "Everybody Take a Shit on a Statue of Buddha Day".

I understand your point of view, Tristam, truly I do. I only hope you don't think any the less of me for mine.

You see, I really do feel that you can't meet intolerance with tolerance and expect it to balance out. I have no deep and abiding hatred for Islam, nor any faith, but I absolutely loathe religious extremists of all stripes. Just for the record, my personal definition of "religious extremist" is anyone who is so invested in their personal beliefs that they're willing to kill for them.

Me personally? I'll take one for the Raccoon any day, but kill for him? Ehhh . . . better look for another disciple.

Well, speaking as an (scandal!) Christian, that's what we're taught to do...that whole "turn the other cheek" thing really is detrimental to our collective health and goes against all notions of self-preservation :)

Then perhaps you shouldn't read this month's Church Bulletin about the Crusade against the Cult of the Astral-Projective Wolverine.... :(

Your childish depiction of my god is judged to be... acceptable. You will not be barred from the gates of Mecha-Asgard.

Now back to the more important issue at hand.

I actually have a simple question for the people who find the concept of draw Muhammad day offensive.

Do you eat pork?

Do you do work on Saturday?

Do you kill roaches?

I could go on enumerating what are, to the average person who is not of the individual religion in question, relatively minor little things that most of us do without ever thinking about it.

But those things are often mortal sins in these religions. Stoning offenses in some cases.

This is no different, save that it was organized to basically spit in the face of those who would apply the strictures of their religion to everyone. If the Jews were beheading people for working on Saturday, you'd see a similar reaction.

maybe a little random but an explanation and my personal opinion attached

No one was really allowed to see Muhammed's face(peace be upon him), because if it was actually passed through the generations Muhammed(pbuh) could easily be interpreted as an object to worship instead of Allah hence wearing the white cloth around the face. He was a pretty influential person and as one of those types of people those influenced by him tend to make more of a man or woman than what there really is.

My personal opinion: When you attempt to draw Muhammed(pbuh) I ask why? What are you trying to instigate or accomplish I really dont understand. To me its on the same parallel of someone speaking a language they dont know and no proficiency in it. When someone of that language hears it, it just sounds like mangled garbage lol. Its neither infuriating nor sad its just random why do you care. Do you assume because he lived in the Middle East that you draw him like a person with Semitic attributes? They guy could have been a fucking rainbow and we not know lmao!

That aside w/e lol there was something else I was going to add but I starting laughing after making my opinion. When we have problems in the world like real ones and we ask and point fingers at each other saying where was so and so or the society when we needed to address this issue...

WE WERE DRAWING CARTOONS! come on now really?

Ya know, Khidir? I appreciate you filling us in, and I understand that reasoning totally. I mean, you can totally see that the very thing you're describing has infected Catholicism to a degree.

Thing is, though, you apparently see this stuff, laugh, and shake your head at the idiocy of it. Other people see it and threaten to (or actually do) kill people. That's the part I can't understand.

well that i dont understand either really, a real muslim is almost pacifist (almost), there is a statement saying in defense of our religion that changes but its pretty narrow on stuff that make us attack people. I can't speak for people but then in again I'm not entirely someone who follows Islam 100% of the time due to my own weaknesses but unfortunately I have a habit of thinking I'm the only one in this light and no one else. Not everyone thinks with their head we're all different Islam is great for uniting people (when properly followed) and is one those religions where it's so literal its hard to misunderstand and when a person screws up its easy to see where they go wrong it just boils down to whether they want to accept it or not, same applies to myself I just dont lie to myself because I want to be one in my own eyes.

I guess you could say I'm one in spirit like other people but some views I base off of the Qur'an and not what conflicts with society has warped things into on that note. Sunnah and Shi'ah? They arised over difference on who should lead Islam after Muhammed(pbuh) died and had different beliefs over who should suceed him. A muslim is a muslim to me I dont claim any sort of title like Sunnah or Shi'ah since today its something much more and drastically misinterpreted due to the way one goal changes and lasts through the generations in my opinion those that claim to be a certain "division" of Islam make it worse really at most it was just a political belief that loosely tied to it. Now its something we are unsure of whether this side is going to bomb us or not(not saying thats entirely the media's fault).

Another thing there are no real divisions in Islam like Christianity(no I'm not slamming you) a muslim is a muslim stay together dont let differences divide you otherwise you become what I just described today. Its not entirely in the name of religion either people try to distort things for what they want just like any other human.
