Well I was at my job today grabbing my paycheck, I wasn't punched in or anything. An angry women comes up saying "I wanna see the manager" (Mind you I work at a grocery store) So I asked "whats the problem?" she tells me the garbage outside the store was overflowing. Naturally this happens from the morning rush, and the fact the store is close to a highschool that has an open campus lunch hour, you do the math.

So she contiunues and says that its been like that for days. With the way we do things around the store all garbages get changed twice a day. I tell her no it hasn't it was changed the night before. Thats when all hell broke loose, I guess shes one of those that hate to be told shes wrong. She aurged with me as if she knew how the store worked and how she wasn't going to shop there anymore. My manager came and she told him her side and And i'm a bad worker not in uniform (wasn't punched in) ect. ect. blah blahlol11olo. She walks away and my boss just starts cracking up, and said "Just learn how to ignore those people." Its just too much grief over garbage can that needed to be changed.

Just know if anyone goes shopping at a grocery store, try not to give the workers a hard time, even if it is about the garbage.

I remember those kinds of customers. One customer bitched me out when I double scanned something (it was my first day, and someone was watching me), and my co-worker was like "Chill out, this is her first day." :\

Actually, it'd be more effective to just remember what it is like working under those conditions, so that when you are an old lady, you don't bitch out the young man over garbage.
Its amazing, even though many have worked customer service, how few remember what it was like dealing with tards.

not that I'm saying you'll be a lady someday lol

As a fellow grocery store employee, I know exactly how it feels to run into people like said customer. I always got the feeling that they don't really think of you as a person but rather some house slave ready to bend over backwards to their every whim.
It's so hard not to argue with these people because you know they want to. It's always best to just act friendly. For instance never let it seem like your getting angry at them, just look at them with a face that makes it appear that you are actually listening to them. If they ever bring up "I'm never shopping here again" just say "Well thank you for your patronage and I'm sorry things didn't work out" and then walk away.

Customer: Bark Bark Bark, you suck at your job, i'll get you fired for not listening to me.
Translation: Hi there, im a jackass with nothing better to do(, and am probably here with my food stamps).
Me: Of course you are right.

Yaw...she could stand to die. I worked at K-mart, and whenever that kinda shit happened I found my manager asap and let them deal with it. I really can't handle people like that, I scream back.

Don't feel bad, I'ma Kmarty too ;_;

The best thing is, I'm in a Union, and there rule is I have to have 3 write-ups before they can fire me, I have none against me.

I remember seeing some customers using FoodStamps while wearing a Louis Vuitton bag. Then again I do live near NYC. But still >_>. How are you going to go to a semi-expensive grocery store (it's no Wal-mart) and use your FOOD STAMPS when you have a L.V. bag and set it on the conveyor belt for everyone to see?

Shit man, when we were poor students living off kool-aid and ramen I'd see people in the lines at the grocery store ALL THE TIME buying fucking lobster and filet mignon with their food stamps. I'm dead serious.

When I used to work at Walmart we had a guy that would come in and buy several bags of Iams dogfood with his food stamps.

And since we live almost on the OK TX border we would accept OK food stamps, and since Texas has no tax on food it was a better deal for them I guess, but they'd waste about $15 in gas getting to our store, lol.

lol thats so true

I also work in a grocery store. Just yesterday my exgirlfriend (who also works there) asked me to go run a price check for this old lady ::coughbitchcough:: so i did. The lady thought some food was 10/10 dollars ( we have that alot so i checked) and it wasnt. I told her it was 1.79 and then all hell started breaking loose. I was like uhh...yes it is. And she just kept bitching so i went and got one of our supervisors and she checked and came back saying the same thing. Still the lady bitched and then told us she didnt want it anymore. After she left we laughed for a good 5 minutes. Then i had to go bag :/

And yea, i hate when people come in with foodstamps ( MY TAX MONEY) wearing like abercrombie and fitch and gucchi shit. I can hardly afford fuckin wal mart stuff that pisses me off. I would -never- EVER go on food stamps. That sysytem needs to be wiped the fuck out.

I guess its a NJ thing but people here don't get food stamps, they get whats called EBT cards which is like electronic food stamps I guess.

Yay Canada! No food stampies here. Just food banks. If you need food that bad you go to the food bank and get it yourself. Saves them what some people may see as embarassment and gives 'em a little more incentive to work and/or not abuse any system. :)

QFT, most places are like this. Aside from that entirely whoever was ringing up dogfood for foodstamps was in violation of a handful of federal laws tied in with the program and they and the consumer could have been brought up on charges on the spot (and most likely should have).

I dig how the canadians do it. While our foodstamp program does wonders on the small scale it, like welfare in general, is only a self-perpetuating cycle. If you're trying to get off by working they cut you offentirely reinforcing your dependance. It's as if no transitional phase/cycle/whatever was built in to it .. much easier to get a handout than bust ass double time so you don't need em ... welfare/food stamps fail.

On topic: off the clock? 'Bitch, find someone who's being paid to give a shit' :P Treating the people who take care of/server your food, pump your gas, etc, etc. isn't a wise idea .. being one of those people i'm not inclined to make the effort unless i'm being paid to deal with your average neanderthal joe shopper. 'Course ... i'm an asshole, results may vary.

Yay Canada! All they do is give free needles to the junkies that are too busy looking for their next fix to get clean ones themselves. Thanks for contributing to the retarded junkie problem, I say let em infect themselves with whatever disease they may get.

Eh no seriously, as long as you keep all your damn junkies up there we're good =P

No system is perfect. How do I know this? Simple...

When someone comes along and idiot proofs something, a better idiot comes along. Substitute 'bum' or 'sleeze' where appropriate.

We have those EBT cards too, I just said Food Stamps because it was a universal known thingy.
