Hello again. This one single excuse has bothered me for sooo long, esepcially now that I'm leveling a job again.

"i am lost. i have no mapz."

What the fuck? What does a map have (hardly) anything to do with it? Just follow someone to the fucking camp! How hard is it to just watch a moving a moving thing on your screen and simply press the approproate keys to follow?

The whole "i have no map" excuse it totally pointless; if/when you get a map, do you instantly know how to traverse the landscape, albeit know the desired campsites? WTF?

Not having a map is possibly the worst excuses for getting lost. Everyone (actually, not everyone) knows the way to various places in CN, Boyadha Tree, Kuftal, etc., and how many people have maps of these places? Yes, some due to coffers (lol not CN), but the majority of us don't. Somehow, by the seemingly grace of god, these people are able to travel to distance places in complex dungeons w/o a map! *GASP*

I don't care if you don't have a map. Get over it. I am.

That's it. lol

Windower is cheating! All you fuckers who use it should be shot Saw-style from above with a 12 guage, have your testicles ripped out through the cracks between your toes, and a SCUD firmly planted up your ass.

Come on, derail snowball... you can do it!

Then you must be a priest.

I once spent my entire afternoon in Oldton looking for a treasure chest for my key so I could get a map. When I finally got it, I had run through the damn place so much I knew it by heart.

Some people play on X-Box and PS2, thusly not all people can use a windower, and if your computer is in another room it makes looking at a map site on it and actually utilizing it to become "unlost" all the more difficult.

Finally as for following people to camp, sometimes the ones you are following who know the way don't stop when you have to sneak and invis yourself to prevent getting aggro and either dying or (in the case of a lost noob) training enough back to the camp that the party wipes when you finally arrive. Following someone is fine and good as long as they make it easy for you to follow them, especially if you have never been to the camp the party will be using.

Sometimes people becoming lost is rather annoying when you know how to get where you're going, however sometimes people do have actual reasons for being lost and not having a map to see where the other party members are standing (or even if you do have map and they've already moved to another map) complicates things. That being said however I see no excuse for not having maps you can purchase with gil unless they are purchased somewhere you haven't been yet (such as those found in Rabao). If you can't afford the maps you shouldn't be partying, because maps are far cheaper than food and gear so if you can't afford maps odds are you're severely lacking in the food and gear department as well.

Lol QFT. If you can't afford 3k for a map, please don't come to PT w/o oils/powders...."i to poor!"

Another terrible excuse.....><

Far from it. Actually that was sarcasm, I knew someone would miss it. I really don't care about windower (360 player), was just being silly. It's always amusing to watch ppl argue over whether its cheating or not (devil smiley)

Buy a printer.

Buy a map. It's not as if 3000G is hard to come by.

On another note, I was level 70 before I bought the map for Sanctuary. But I'll be damned if I couldn't navigate my way through there like the back of my hand.

OP: And cut the newbs some slack. Unless they are being real pricks about things, help 'em out. Half the fun of the game is the exploration factor, don't take it away from someone just because you've only got 30mins before Family Guy comes on... :spiteful:

The fact that we have maps at all in FFXI is a great boon ... many older MMORPGS (like Everquest) had nothing of the sort until three or four expansions in. You were expected to memorize the zones via simple trial and error, and if you were unfamiliar with a place ... well, losing "track" of the person in front of you was veritable navigation suicide. You just paid more attention to that sort of thing.

For someone with an atrocious sense of natural direction, like me, it was one of the most challenging aspects of the game. I'll tell you what, though ... you'd learn the zones, and fast. Think about how rapidly you learned the twists and turns of the Crawler's Nests before you were high enough to complete the Selbina Clay quest, and you'll know what I'm talking about.

In areas with maps from the get-go, however .... well, you never really get to know them that well. To this day, I still check the map in areas that I've been in a thousand times ... even Windurst, my home. In a way, the existence of maps has pampered us all. T_T

If you dont want to spend the gil, or use the ink from your printer..you could always do it the old fasioned way with a piece of paper and a pencil/pen/crayon/marker.

To hell with Ordelle's.
