Excuses

Also, the thing i don't get is why people don't go to there map and figure out where camp is through the party member markers. I mean most zones aren't like WTF MAZE. If you look at the map and where the markers are it shouldn't be that hard to find out where everyone is.

Except Attowa, Crawler's Nest, Yuhtunga, Yhoator, Ifrit's Cauldron, Mamook, Aquaducts, Caedarva, Ru'Avitau...yup! =P

Caedarva mire is esay as sin considering camp is essentially walk past the door. Same with the mandy camps in yutunga.
CN is easy too till you gotta go to that secret room and even then its just go to the proper tunnel.Ru'avitau generally youre following 12-18 people to where you gotta go although it is annoying when youre alone the first 1-4 times wandering about before you can start remembering where to go.

Aqueducts is where if you get lost youre dead and the guy who tries to raise you is dead.

Most people apparently dont notice it but the gridlines are still there so you can look at a printed map or ffxi-atlas and know EXACTLY where you are quite easily. I used that method to navigate a group I was with all the way to the proper places. If they had listened to me about which was the safest and fastest route I wouldnt have been waiting for them at the gate I was gonna lockpick for 30-60 minutes+ death times ect ect.

If you dont want to spend the gil, or use the ink from your printer..you could always do it the old fasioned way with a piece of paper and a pencil/pen/crayon/marker.

To hell with Ordelle's.

Lol I've done this on many occasions , coffer hunting for SMN in the Temple of Uggly comes to mind, lol.

So in other words, these mazes are easy once you memorize the layout.

My god.

It happened again today. Party in the Tree, a replacment for someone tells me they have no map. Seething, I say "just stay to the left the ENTIRE way"

Four minutes later, "i lost"

What the fuck? I gave you extremely explicit instructions. How fucking hard is it to JUST HUGE THE LEFT WALL the ENTIRE, yes ENTIRE war? God, this game is getting more and more ghetto everyday........><

Nah. In other words mazes are easy so long as you follow the guy that knows the way.
Most of those places you mentioned that you would have to get at for exp aren't even mazelike. When the zoneline is visible at all times or practically a place doesnt count as a maze when camping there. Worst case scenario is 20 seconds of walking if somone doesnt have flee to guide you over.
Mamook camps consist of mammool ja staging piont---> mamook--> kill!
CN before the sac room consists of sticking to the right wall.
Yuhtunga is walk outside
mire is the same
mamook is the same once you have the staging piont.
Everywhere else people know that its easy to get lost so they NEED to pay attention to where people are going that do know the way. Every time i was in ifrits in a group nobody was stupid enough to wander off on purpose. When getting lost means certain death possibly without raise, people tend to care about things like that

Hello again. This one single excuse has bothered me for sooo long, esepcially now that I'm leveling a job again.

"i am lost. i have no mapz."

What the fuck? What does a map have (hardly) anything to do with it? Just follow someone to the fucking camp! How hard is it to just watch a moving a moving thing on your screen and simply press the approproate keys to follow?

The whole "i have no map" excuse it totally pointless; if/when you get a map, do you instantly know how to traverse the landscape, albeit know the desired campsites? WTF?

Not having a map is possibly the worst excuses for getting lost. Everyone (actually, not everyone) knows the way to various places in CN, Boyadha Tree, Kuftal, etc., and how many people have maps of these places? Yes, some due to coffers (lol not CN), but the majority of us don't. Somehow, by the seemingly grace of god, these people are able to travel to distance places in complex dungeons w/o a map! *GASP*

I don't care if you don't have a map. Get over it. I am.

That's it. lol
I find you whole opening statement very close mined. First off most people learn there way around down to remebering because they have been there so many times. In a place like CN it can be real easy to get lost if you dont have a map and it your first time or first time in a long time. Heck I still get lost in yhoator jungle and ifrit cauldron even with a map. All it take is 1 lag spike and the person that you was following is now gone. Also some travel faster then other and in a perfet world everyone stay to gether and sneak and invis stay on.

not for real. Not everyone play on computer, not everyone that play on cumputer use windower, so whould not count on people being able to do this. Also normally the people that do have a way to access do use it, and im willing to bet that the people that you are talking about do not have the ability to access ffxiatlas.

Me personally I collect maps. Only need few more. phanauet aqueducts, riverne, sacrarium and prom- vahzl, mea, and dem

Ok well .... I am geographically impaired, and I am sure anyone that reads this thread, and knows me, will tell you I am a hopeless case. I "can" get places but it may take me 30 mins longer than anyone else. I turn sideways and I get lost.
The maps always look upside down to me, so although it looks like you might turn left you actually turn right... I think. I do however make sure to let people know that I am "map challenged".

Some people play on X-Box and PS2, thusly not all people can use a windower, and if your computer is in another room it makes looking at a map site on it and actually utilizing it to become "unlost" all the more difficult.
Then buy a laptop..... so can be in same room as PC

Only place you can get lost in the tree is where that HNM gobbie is and then its still simple drop down 1 floor and you back at the start

Umm... That's exactly what I've been saying. lol People learn by experience, not by some lame map. But by lv 55, you should know how to get to the secret room or at least the big track room downstairs in CN...

Also, it's kind of annoying with explicit instrutions are given, with no room for deviation, and someone gets lost and won't move until a PT member goes and gets them...><

Well, say la vie

try askin kiere for directions. she always says right when its left and left when its right. lol makes for some fun tryin to get around. ;) the maps look upside down cuz ya from down under :P so ya need to stand on your head while playin. :) if you do that, please take a pic. lol

Theres a grid still on the /map command. I relate my current pos to the location of the party and just travel in the general direction until i reach them. Of course this might not always work, but its always given me a path to go by and I heardly get lost. General directional sense ftw!

that does work on some maps. but there are a few that are just a pain to navigate, and having no map only makes it worse.

Well i hate to break to you but some people are new to the game and haven't been to the CN or other places for 3 or more jobs. I know that it took me 2 jobs through CN to learn all the places to PT. I still don't know how to get out of there without escape or a warp scroll. Does that make me retarded??? I think not. I just haven't played for a long time or level'd multiple jobs to 75. Yes, I do agree that it is annoying, but give the length of time someone has been playing some consideration before you get your undies in a bundle. Especially when you invite a rep from say, Jeuno and you are somewhere around the secret room in CN.
