Farm... ing?

So i'm playing WoW the other day sitting in stormwind doing some tailoring and this guy starts shouting and begging for a free enchant to his weapon ... cos he's broke....

This puzzles me as it's damn near impossible to run out of money on the game and even more impossible to get a free enchant so i shout "go farm something..." to which he replies "how do you farm?"

I was dumbstruck; how do people this stupid manage to keep their PCs up and running? naturally i answered "type /quit, if you had to ask that's the best command for you."

/sigh

I can't stand people who sit around a bitch about needing cash when all they do is sit around bitching about needing cash instead of doing something about it. v.v

Now i realize my story relates to WoW and the FB is usually reserved for FF stuff, however this is like a pandemic of stupidity i'm sure everyone's got a similiar story. How hard is it to do a little reading up about your hobby of choice?

FFxi gil is easy find a NM no 1 hunts and hunt it but make sure it has a ok sat on the peice droped

if everyone did that there'd be no nm's left =P

most people r to lazy to:
look NM up
hunt it
work out a good price
work out respawn time
work out who and when to sel it

so most people go /equipe visa and go to ige XD

People in general are stupid man.

I work for a company that sells electronics and comps over the net, and not a day goes back that I don't ask myself the same question. If these people are smart enough to work the equipment, why the hell can't they figure out how to read about it on the site. If they can pick up a phone, and dial, they should be able to look at In Stock:Yes, and determine that YES mf'er it is in stock!!!!

I'm a people person...can't you tell?

Not sure what lvl you need that "enchantment" your talking about, but when I first started FFXI I had no idea what the term "farming" meant and figured it had to do with the craft of Gardening. I found out about a month later what it meant, so its possible he might not of been familiar with the term.

As for people who ask for stuff like that in shout, I can't really comprehend it. If I need something such as advice, I can see the logic in asking in shout.. but for free gil, items etc? That just seems lazy to me.

Wait. I bitch about being unable to make decent gil, while trying to make gil. Does that justify my bitching? <_<;

Rest assured, your rabbling is validated as far as i'm concerned. At least you're up off yer arse attempting to do something about it not begging in the streets.

If you know enough about WoW to know that you need someone to make a special enchantment on your gear, you SHOULD know what farming is.

Which further our suspicions that the person shouted was indeed a moron.

That's what I was thinking...

It seems that people on that game are far more lazy than on FFXI, I mean HOW THE HELL DO YOU NOT HAVE MONEY on WoW?!?!??!?!!? that game is so easy to get money ... I mean wow, get a prof' and do it stick with it, sell ur items from the prof. there ya go money... Do instances get drops sell em, or if you're an enchanter just DE the damn shit you get and sell the mats, those sell for a lot...

I have an easy 250g on my toons on WoW, my hunter60 has 500something, and my 33 pally has 250ishG it's by no means hard to get money on WoW especially compared to FFXI, at least FFXI you really have to get into it, WoW you do not...

Lol, you don't even have to hunt nm on ffxi to make good gil. You just have to get out of the party/ls mindset with one of your jobs......

game lingo is a tricky thing not all games are the same.
for example what we call farming in ffxi was called camping on everquest.

nother what we call linkshells they called guilds.

never played wow but do they call farming farming in wow?

I played WoW for a spell, and I took up enchanting. I can also attest to the fact that money in WoW is far easier to come by than it is in Everquest, FFXI, or any other MMO I've played...but the most ridiculous thing this loon asked for is STILL the fact that he asked for a free enchantment.

WoW is easy, but enchanting is still the most money-losing, thankless tradeskill in the entire game. You have to completely demolish a perfectly good, blue-or-better weapon to get the shards necessary to improve another weapon even slightly. Free enchantments = NO.

All of this is besides the point that if he was so new he literally didn't understand the term "farming," he likely didn't need an enchantment anyway. Enchantments are largely a luxury best suited for higher-level characters, that are going to have their equipment for a while. One levels up so quickly in World of Warcraft, you're changing your equipment by the day (literally).

This is not true. "Farming" was well-used in Everquest, and meant exactly the same thing as it does here. "Camping" was also used to describe the same exact things as in FFXI. That is to say, sitting down for a period and killing the same group of mobs over and over for experience, or waiting for a certain rare spawn to pop was camping. "Farming" was killing a lot of easier mobs over and over again for the items they dropped. Both terms were used, and in the same way.

Now, farming wasn't as COMMON in Everquest as it is in FFXI, in my opinion ... but it was very much part of common game terminology. You're right about the guild, thing, though. FFXI is pretty much alone on that; regardless of the fact that it would be called a "guild" in any other MMORPG in existence, Square-Enix decided they needed their own name for it. o_O

People that try and put their problems on other people like needing something: amor, gil, or whatever really never get far and are like a parasite in a way. If you something done, do it yourself, the resulting achievment will be rewarding in multiple aspects.

Amen to that bit about the most ludicrous thing being asking for a free ench. let alone being like lvl 20ish... game lingo's not that difficult to figure out, i did go as far as to say "go outside stormwind and kills some stuff" ... money practicly rains for the fargin sky on that game.

What bothers me the absolute most being Ex-FF are the random tells for cash/mats/items when people see me walk through town. I never had this issue with FF no matter what i was wearing or doing at the time and if someone did ask it was for like 1-2k that it was obvious they needed for a piece of gear, and even at THAT is was someone i either knew, knew of, or a friend asking for a friend ... not just rampant beggars.

In just under 2 months i've scored a 46 priest with damn near +300 healing spells in gear, as many enchs as i can muster, 300 tailoring, 300 skinning, a bought black dragon whelp, and my mount all done in a guild i cofounded with the first 3 people i partied with circa darkshore ... the game is instant gratification for the most part. It's really not that hard to get off yer butt and complete something or make some money on WoW, a slight percentage of them don't know how easy they have it.

That slight percentage likes to bug motivated priests for money constantly, apperantly :/

Or just find a NM that only RMT camp regularily, claim you got the drop a bunch of times and buy all the gil you need at IGE.

this guy is an idiot... at level 30 in WoW, i could make 1 gold in about an hour without using anything but leveling and selling stuff to NPCs. not even selling anything to other players, only selling to NPCs. he needs to just get off his lazy ass...

I didn't really get too steamed about it at the time but per usual i just wanted to come here and rattle off what little frustration life offers me. It's like .... would you go drive a racecar or fly a plane as a hobby without reading up first? If you can't be knowledgeable about what you're doing enough to at least survive on your own let alone be successful why would you do it?

There is only one way to farm in WoW. If you're not using it...you should be.

Behold the end to useless hours of killing: www.wowglider.com
