to all of you who do this religiously, FUCK YOU
especially the JP faggots..
one 2 nights ago just ran around with the exp mobs on his tail and killed other shit so no other xp mobs could spawn, but if we pulled one of them off of him, we kill it and get no exp.. that pissed me off...
spider campers, i dont really care about anymore cause im above lvl for those exp mobs... but seriously.. and the GM didnt do shit to that nin cuz hes JP.. is wear it.. w/e..

JP had nothing to do with whether a GM got involved in that case. EXP, farming, skillup, NPCs - the GMs, and SE in general don't make a distinction in mob use. It's just the players that prioritize EXP as higher than the other two. Technically, all mobs are abailable for anyone to use for any reason. It's polite to yield mobs for EXP use, and it's polite to take one at a time, but it's not a GM worthy offense to be discourteous in this manner.

I believe you said it best

well firstly:

When I notice all my mobs are gone,
they are not your mobs, and what he said was wrong, but not what he did, and theres no reason you couldnt have taken a yag off him, no big deal.. but no need for a flame

Actually, if the person was really keeping the mobs on him so they wouldn't respawn, that's the SE definition of monopolizing and it's against ToS.

That's how GM calls about NM camping go. If the guy gets claim and kills it 12 times in a day, it's not monopolizing, but if someone claims, lets it whiff at him for hours, and cures himself so nobody else can have it, that's monopolizing.

The fact that obviously not all of the train was claimed is the only "official" loophole, although obviously it still interfered for exp purposes.

Fortunately, the game mechanics of only allowing one mob claimed at a time all but rule out normal mob monopolization. I can monopolize a single mob at a time. If I try to monopolize 2 or more, I'm relying on noone being brave enough to pick a mob off my hoard. Back when I was a newb, I used to think Aga-farming crawlers in Saruta was how Blms made gil. People readily took from my pack if they wanted a crawler too. As much as I would've liked to be able to monopolize crawlers back then, it simply wasn't possible. I could've monopolized spiny spippi I guess, but that's a different complaint.

I was there.. to put it into more understandable.. he would run, and range attack a crab, then run and wait for another to pop and then kill it, turn and kill the other. That's very much monopolizing a mob. If I did the EXACT same I woulda ended up jailed.

Problem is that there was nothing preventing you from taking the other mob while he killed one. While he's smackin on one, the others would be unclaimed, and you could pull it for youself. You CHOSE not to, because it wouldnt yeild any exp.

And while the guys is a total Ass, he didnt break the rules, because you could have taken the other mobs while they were unclaimed.

Quite true, however as stated remains true. Had I done it, and they GM called, I'd be sitting on Jail.

Probably not, for the aformentioned reasons. not for the monopoly on monsters. You could be complained apon for harrasment, or intentional disruption enjoyment for someone else, but not for monopoly

In a JP party a while back in the Garbage basement. another LS shows up (cant remember if they're NA or JP, but it doesnt matter,) and start killing our EXP mobs while waiting for Serket. One guy was doing a similar thing, tho not with every mob, just the beetles. Leader(JP, for those people who seem to believe that it matters) calls GM, then after conversing with them says to us that theres nothing the GM could do, since he has the right to attack whatever he wishes. And since he wasnt trying to MPK us with them, he wasnt breaking any rules.

Yes, a level 55 party can take a robber crab from a level 75 ass leveling his NPC, and wanna guess how much exp that party is gonna get for the kill? 11-15 exp, more with chain.

Boyahda is no longer a party exp zone in the 50's, due to NPC levelers. Last several times I've been there I've seen entire exp parties out sitting waiting for the next pop, to claim over NPC levelers. GG assholes, first you crowded bst leveling zones and made it impossible for them to level, now you're after the party zones. At least you're all a bunch of nubs that don't know of the decent alternate leveling spots, so it's still possible for us to exp.

In the same vein, I've wanted to level my NPC. So I /sea the tree. No parties. I grab a friend, run down there and start XPing my NPC on crabs and the occasional Crawler.

About an hour into it, a party shows up and DEMANDS I leave. Never mind that I've been there, never mind that I'm sharing the crabs with another NPC leveler (who was pretty gracious about taking the crabs farther in when pulls were tight) but God forbid someone level their NPC anywhere a party could possibly be.

It's a double-edged sword. I'm glad I'm close to capping my NPC's level because it's getting to the point where I could give a shit about parties in a zone. They have no problem with camping on top of me, so let the reverse also be true.

Alot of ppl who lvl their fellows just dont have good ettiquete. There are unwritten rules in FFXI that someone should just not break. Legit exp ptys always get first dibs on the mobs they are exping on. Now if its just a skill up pty......or anything of the sort...then I dont really care and will compete to get mobs. But, an exp pty.....I dont screw with cause that would just be rude.

The last two times I've gone to exp there, did a search before leaving jeuno, 0 people there in the 50's not anon, and nobody had a search comment about skilling off robbers or leveling NPC.

First time we show up, and there is a party of 3 people 3 NPC's clearing aquarius camp as fast as it pops, and a drg and bst both with NPC's clearing far robber camp as fast as they pop. After seeing this, I do a /sigh to the leader of the NPC party, that's it, nothing more, just a /sigh. I get a response somewhere along the following lines: "Fuck off, you don't own these mobs"

Second time we get there, and aquarius camp is empty, all mobs are up. We clear it a few times, and a NPC leveler shows up, and starts killing. We're killing pretty fast, and he's killing faster. It reaches the point where my mp is full and I'm out there to claim spawns after each kill. This guy would also dia pops if he's already fighting one (killing the exp for us if we want to steal it)

It's getting to the point where I could give a shit about NPC levelers. While there is a decent number that will take their NPC farming or kill out of the way stuff, there is a large section of that population that are total assholes, and if I see a NPC leveler fighting bst or party exp mobs with a link they can't handle, I'll stand there and watch them die, and laugh at their dead body.

I get a warm fuzzy feeling whenever I see people levelling their NPCs in unusual areas. I was helping someone get a papyrus for G1 and I saw two JPs levelling their NPCs in the Eldieme zone near Beaucidine--quite a walk for your average NPC leveller. AND they left the Liches alone when they saw that we were doing G1!

I've also seen NPC levellers in the heart of CoP zones. Carpenter's Landing, Ulegeurand Range, etc. They're there, just nobody notices them unless they fsck up, just like BSTs. People don't care unless they're impinging on their right to do whatever they please.

Well said Soli ^.^

I've lvl'd my fellow plenty of times in Kuftal and Cape Terrigan, but not at the expense of an exp pty's mobs.

See, I've tried to level in the more 'out of the way' places. For most of my NPCs leveling I've been in the Altepas. In Xarcabard. In Toraimarai or in Garlaige (off the Weapons.) But when you hit the low 60s for your NPC the camps get scarcer and scarcer for people who want to solo. If I can get a RDM to come with me, I do the Elder Goobbues deeper in. Usually no competition and good drops. But when you're soloing you need to take safety (and speed) into account and for most 75 jobs crabs fit that bill. If I want a full XP session I can't do Steelshells so Robbers have to do. For the most part I try Gustav first, but then you deal with Goblins that suck to have to fight and the BST pets count as a wasted kill.

I'd like to think my leveling spots have been out of the way enough for people, but when I've got to level in a 'traditional' XP zone and you get there after me, well, I have no interest in vacating my spot just because you're a party. I've started to put it in my comment, too. Party leaders would do well to check /anon comments in NPCable leveling zones nowadays. In all honesty, a solo NPC leveler isn't going to take too many more mobs than your average-to-good party and in a place like the Tree they'll probably roam to the other Crabs/Crawlers if they feel you're outpulling them.

Of course there are bad apple NPC levelers. There are bad apple party leaders who tell me that I've 'been there long enough' and that being there for an hour or 2 is a 'good enough reason to leave.' Ones that tell me in Boyhada to kill rabbits and mandies at the Aquarius camp (and sometimes, if there's no possible links, I do. They're a pain in the ass but if it shuts up an annoying party, so be it.)

Also remember that NPCers hate moving, especially when they're being forced out. In general, a party can transport itself to a different camp without too much hassle. If an NPCer gets their camp interrupted by an invading party, their zoning/warping/whatever means they don't level their NPC again for 19-20 hours, barring Tactics charges.

My NPC is there to get XP. I am XPing off those mobs. Does that not make it a 'legit' XP party? Or do 'legit' XP parties need to have 6x PCs? What if there are 3 level 55 players and 3 capped NPCs? Does that count as a 'legit' party? I'm not sure of your definition.

Now, I'm not defending shitheads who Dia mobs they're not fighting. That's wrong, it's stupid, they should be flamed. But a lot of NPC levelers are nice people who'll be just as respectful of your leveling needs as you are of theirs. Personally, I don't NPC in areas where people are partying. Never have, never will. But once I'm there, I'm there. Don't expect me to vacate my area just because you think you 'deserve' the spot more than me. You are, of course, welcome to compete with/outpull me. I find that kinda fun.
