Father Killed Child Over Video Game

This guy obviously had some sort of mental defect and I'm sure he feels personally mortified. I feel kind of bad if as the mother said, he's never been violent before, cause possibly he didn't know he was capable of these violent insane outbursts and didn't get the help he needed.

I'm not even going to backtrack on my words so feel free to tear at my opinion all you want.

Do I feel a person could possibly punch a 17 month old and have no prior history of violence? No, not in their right state of mind... Anyone stop to think he might not be 'all together' or in posession of 'all his marbles.'

Or how about the fact that staying in jail for a lifesentence is far more boring than being put to death 5 years down the road? I personally think leaving someone in jail to rot for 35 + life parole will do more than just killing them. Would I be unhappy to see him get life? Not in the least. He killed a baby, if people decide that they'd like to see him put away for life, then whatever was presented in the case against him will have given them that opinion. I am going off what I read in a god damn internet article. I have no other information that I truly know is real besides the fact a baby died.

Stop jumping on my ass and start thinking before you speak. In the same breath, maybe if I had posted this post, instead of what I did, your simple minds could put 1 + 1 together. And Windy, it isn't people like me that are making this country go downhill... It is the people that vote for official candidates based on the number of posters they see... It is the people that sue McDonalds because they got fat. It is the people that sue Wendy's because zomg... Chili turns out is hot...

And whats this shit about me being the only person paying for people in jail for life? You ever think our legal system makes mistakes? It is highly possible people end up on death row that shouldn't be. Less likely today than prior to DNA and Forensics... but until the perfect human comes along, people are all prone to mistakes and misjudgments. So when someone is framed, put to death, and the truth comes out... in hindsight I would have much rather paid for them to stay in jail than be killed. Oh yes, the mighty America driven by the dollar. Just kill 'em, they're <insert nonwhite race here> and it's cheaper. The race comment is not calling you a racist... just the percentage of whites to other races facing the death penalty.

I wished like hell the paying to keep these kind of people alive and in jail fell solely on people who think this. What he did was not a mistake. You don't "accidently" kill a baby when you're punching it in the face and throwing it over chairs. Should be beat to death...

It certainly was no accident... How many times have you been driving and some jerk douchebag mcgee pissed you off, and all you wanted to do was take your car and ram them? People get pissed for different things. 1 mistake can fuck you up for a very very long time.

It is not an excuse, but my god, you don't even know what happened... All you have to go off of is a nice story put together by reporters and the few statements offered by police.

I wholeheartedly agree.
All in favor?
Aye.

Kill him.

Following through on those thoughts or not is what separates the felons from the rest of thr free world.

That is what the difference is between people like him and the rest of us. The mind is capable of thinking of anything. I'm sure there are several people reading this who have thought up stuff that makes Ikari's porn look like a childrens show. But they don't follow through with because they know it's crazy.

Exactly... I don't want to introduce a sanitydefense for him... but certain degenerative brain deficiencies can take hold in his age range... I'm just saying anything at this point is possible, and everyone here is taking the role of judge, jury, executioner.

It gets complicated, because people are honestly stupid sometimes, If that same man punched me twice, I probably wouldn't even need to go to the hospital, it's not like he got a gun and shot the baby, or that he drowned it, ran it over with a car, or anything. He punched him twice.

I beleive that intent does matter alot, I don't honestly think he meant to kill the baby, 35years in jail is a really damn long time (how many of us are even over 35years old?) and it ample punishment for something like this.

(Now, if he's not sorry, and he fully intented to just kill the baby or whatever, then it becomes more serious, but we don't know the full details of everything)

I'm pretty sure we will be hearing the whole"It was the video games fault" argument. Time for the video game industry to get blamed for something that was completely out of their hands. Fucking idiot guy. Cut his damn hands off.

gonna disagree on the video game industry takign the fall for this. He's black, his woman is black, the baby was black, shit will be back page news by the time the trial starts. (assuming they're black by names and them living on a street with numbers).

Thats really sickening to kill someone who was just born into the world, not even $#$#@%$@%$ 1 year old!

Do what the Chinese do work him to death over years of time beat him regularly but keep him barely alive.

That would qualify as cruel and unusual but really...

Let a Mark Antony figure create a mob and it would be worse

Last time I checked, 12 months is 1 year so it was 1 year and 5 months old.

10 gil says the guy gets a hell of alot less than life without parole, and he certainly won't get the death sentence. The road rage thing is a great comparison to this situation. We've all felt that way at one time or another, obviously this guy was in some stressed out mood or somthing and went one step farther than most normal people do. Plenty have people have punched walls in frustration, this guy is just a dumb ass and took his anger out on the thing that pissed him off, and it happened to be a child that cannot take that kind of force. Its a terrible situation on both sides.

The thing is though that the human mind knows if what they're doing is wrong (this is excluding the mentally retarded)

If you're on the road and get road rage and want to kill him, do you do it? No, you don't because you know that would be wrong morally, and wrong by the law. I wouldn't do it even if it was legal and unless you're a sciopath none of you here would either.

His mind knew doing that was wrong, but did he stop? No, he did it anyway. He knew what he was doing, stress or not, he did it by his own judgement and should be punished as such.

No less than life without parole, and I would have no remorse for the death sentense.

Thats my point that I was trying to get across. Maybe he just had 1 ounce of anger more than he could cope with. Sure it was over a video game, but other things just as trivially stupid don't seem as bad to us for some reason. ie... reckless driving - we're all guilty at some time.

I'm glad that I live in a country without state sponsored murder. Sure the guy is a despicable human being, but I agree with Arc and feel he should rot in a cell for the rest of his life. In my opinion, killing another person for whatever reason is barbaric. Capital punishment feeds a vicious circle of murder, in which killing is OK as long as it is done in the name of "justice" (which is a very subjective notion to begin with).

As for everyone's... capitalist concerns:

I love when folks are champions for the rights of the folks who fuck up. It just really makes me wonder what kind of paint chips people have been eating. Also, people who get pissy and defensive because you don't agree with what you think is a warped point of view is amusing as well.

It's all good, Act. You and people like you can stand up for the monsters who carry this heinous crap out. And I'll keep standing up for the ones who are truly the victims in situations like this, and i'll do it every time. You can make all the excuses for them you like. He had anger issues, momma didn't breastfeed him long enough, his parents used to smack the snot out of him all his childhood long... or even as simple as he lost his job and his best friend in the same day... blah, blah blah. Last I checked, no one has had a perfect life. Everyone has moments that make them angry or points when they are pushed to the brink by something, someone, etc. But what separates a human being from... say, a dog... is the ability to discern what is right and wrong. What is legal and illegal. Everyone makes choices. You make a bad one and you deal with the consequences. Welcome to modern society with all its flaws and "judgements."

I don't know what you expected when you came in here and posted something to the effect of, "hey you don't know what was going on in this guy's mind." No, I don't know. I don't need to know to know that he murdered a toddler for pulling over a videogame system. There aren't other suspects in there, there's no question who did it, so don't give me this "judge and jury" shit. Judge and jury you're damned skippy. In the USA you get judged by "a group of your peers;" meaning could be me, you or anyone else hearing his case. And all the bad days and anger management bunk in the world wouldn't make me think he's any less deserving of a harsh and EARNED punishment for taking another human life. That's what I think.

See? Now there's me being pissed because I believe in something passionately and I didn't even kill anyone over it. It *can* be done.

*EDIT* Eliott, you know I <3 you. I totally respect anyone's support or condemnation of the death penalty. That's a personal thing, and everyone's entitled to feel how they feel about it. My objection is to the idea that "35 years is a long, boring time," and that somehow that's sufficient for robbing someone of their entire existence, no matter what excuse the person who did it has to offer. By the logic Act is offering, a person can get away with murder. They'd get to live their life at some point after serving time even though they've deprived someone else of that right. Do you see what I'm getting at?

I'm not excusing the man in any way. He did a horrible thing and deserves a severe punishment. In my opinion, a life imprisonment is suitable punishment (no parole, no privileges, no "good behaviour" deals).

Capital punishment crosses the line for me, as it proposes to balance an act of depraved violence with another. But this is my personal stance on the issue and I respect the views of others who disagree with me.

No offense taken Zynny :) <3

I find it quite funny and ironic actually, after all, you don't agree with people who don't think death/lifetime is what should be done and you accuse us of eating paint chips.

In my oppinion a good 35years of jailtime is much worse than being put to sleep, and killed as painlessly as medically possible. And for the whole lifetime thing, seriously if this was a random act of rage and not an evil plot and planned out murder, he will not go do that again, for fear of spending the next 35 years in jail too.

I'm 18 years old, if I got a sentance like that now, I'd leave jail when I'm 53 years old. My father is 41 years old. That is a really, really damn long time. If you've ever read the name of a "Jail" you'd realize they're call a "Correctional facility" more often than not, I realize they fail horribly in this aspect, but the spirit of it was the belief that people can be changed, and 2nd chances can be given.

This site is crap. It tells all these costs and that its soooo much more expensive.
Why?

Where's the why? Why does it cost "an approximate cost of $24 million for each execution." I'm sorry but no fuckin way should it cost $24million to shove a needle in a guys arm and watch him twitch.

Please enlighten me.
