Multi-Plat Fear 2

Actually Ecks, wouldn't you be able to just go to the mission select screen, and just select the mission you're on and start from the beginning?

Did Instant Action mode make a return or not? I can't find out anywhere.

Hmm? Mission Select screen? Is there one of those on the PS3 version? I haven't seen it. Hmm.. I'll see if maybe it's under the start game options.

Because all I've seen is:

Start
Continue From Last Saved Point
Options

I don't remember seeing a mission select screen, but maybe I wasn't really looking for it.

Actually I just read the manual, there is a mission select but it's only on missions that have already been completed.. still.. that's better than having to start from the beginning again. Whew.. lol.. Thanks for the info Eleibfrid. I didn't know there was that option but I am damn glad that there is.

I uh... don't get it. It's been a loooong time since I played the first FEAR. Is that Stokes in FEAR 1?

Or is that the chick from Left 4 Dead?

And as an update, thanks to Eleib I'm back to playing FEAR2 and I'm about to start a new Interval I think. Just finished following Keegan through the subway.

One of the most fluid controlling FPSes I've played since the Halo series (On console, of course).

Love this game.

No prob, and it's just a joke pic about how Zoey from L4D and Stokes look so much alike.

Stokes was never in Fear1 lol

Decided to rent this game tonight and overall I'm enjoyin' it. The only gripes I have are the filmy graphics, which seems like a big hit right now, and how jerky the aim CAN get. I really like the story and the direction they've taken with it but I'm with Firestreak on the games "Horror". While it is often creepy it gets a bit much at times and is severely over used. I feel more like I'm playin' Condemned than my beloved F.E.A.R.

I was extremely into the original and the two expansions, I still play F.E.A.R. multiplayer on the PC, but I think I'll just settle for the rent on this one. It's not near as smooth as F.E.A.R. and the multiplayer just doesn't have the same feel despite it havin' the best game mode directly lifted from CS. No instant action is also a downer.

The controls were iffy for me at first too, since I'm not really use to playing FPSes on consoles. Yet, the more I played the more I became comfortable with them. They don't feel as blocky, but of course they still aren't smooth and precise like using a mouse.

As far as the horror parts of the game, I feel they're broken up pretty well. Just like the original F.E.A.R. You'd have your action part of the game, and then creepy part or a small mixture of both. The music and sound effects are perfectly timed to put you in that creepy mood. At least they work for me. Honestly though, I don't see what the gripe is. FEAR 2 is just a really good and fun game. I think I'll even play through it a second time, which would be a first for me and FPS games.

They definitely have done a wonderful job of putting more story into this game. I'm really enjoying learning about just what went on in Paragon City. (at least, I gather that's the name, it's either that or Auburn)

Basin' my "meh" for the controls on other FPS on the 360 not PC. Oddly enough, I hate Keyboard and Mouse when compared to controller feel. This game is unplayable to me on the PS3, they're just friggin' terribad paired up with Sony's controller.

Ok just got Fear and Fear 2. Let the Fear begin!

Ooooh, you're gonna love it. :D

Did you get them for PC or a console?

Well.. I just beat the game. I'm kind of saddened by the "final fight". It was kind of weak.. really weak. I was expecting something bigger. But uh.. yeah.. Those blue scenes I do want to watch again. If you know what I mean. Definitely hot..

Well, you really shouldn't expect much of a final fight, especially if you played the first one. There isn't really much of a scenario to provide a huge fight off of, except with the mechs, and they aren't the reason you fight, Alma is. So far, you can't kill her and shootin' her only makes her say, "screw it, but I'll be back." I look for the next one to say, "okay, this is how we kill her, now, go do it." Unless they try and run the series in the ground.

Goin' back on Hard mode now and I've kind of changed my opinion on the game a lot. As far as single player goes, it's definitely the best FPS story and gameplay I've seen. I was really torn on whether or not to buy this game because the single-player is so badass. The multiplayer, while full of flaws (more than one can possibly count), is fun after you figure it out and get use to it, but it wont be anything to buy this game over on a console because PS3 owners have KZ2 they'll all flock too and 360 owners have much, much better games on the front. Though I like the multiplayer better than any game not CoD4, I just think it's a bit to hard for the majority because of the querks, not that it takes any more skill. If I do buy it I'll get it on the PC because I'm sure the multiplayer will be alive and well until the third one hits.

Goin' back on the graphics and aim problems I had; the aim was fixed just by uppin' the sensetivity all the way. For some reason ti's smoother like that, imo, where as most games get to jerky. Kind of odd, but it worked and I'll agree to how well it controls now. The graphics I now like, especially on the PC (demo). I couldn't imagine this game without the film grain, really, it would kind of take away from the art. On PC this game looks incredible with it, though they are about to put in a patch to take it out of the PC version.

So now my only gripe is that it doesn't have Instant Action mode, which the first game and expansions are so popular for. It's like Rainbow Six Vegas 2 without Terrorist Hunt mode for the 3rd, it's stupid. I really wanna buy this game but until they do somethin' about this, especially, I'll be hangin' on the fence suppressin' the WANT bug. It's so stupid not to put this in I'm half expectin' them to make it DLC to make an extra buck.

What exactly is Instant Action Mode? I had the first FEAR and played through that when I got it, but I have no idea what this Instant Action Mode is that you're talking about. I played through the first game just like I played through the second one, gameplay is pretty much identical which isn't a bad thing. So, someone please explain this to me?

Now, I never played any of the expansions due to them not being made by the same people, so if it was something an expansion added, then I can understand that. Yet, I still have no idea what Instant Action Mode actually was.

So for me, F.E.A.R. 2 didn't lose anything.

Instant Action is in the original F.E.A.R. made by the original crew. It is also in the expansions, it WAS a staple and hell, if it wasn't for Instant Action, there probably wouldn't be a Terrorist Hunt in R6V2. It's basically a map with enemies that spawn under certain conditions dependin' on how you move or on some maps just over time. Think single player but MP maps, though F.E.A.R. made specific maps just for IA, but don't think of it as MP with bots. You are given a time limit, you set a difficulty, and you try to defeat everything on the map without dyin'. You also only get one life to do this, maybe more on easy modes but I've never done them on easy. It's probably best to call it a time trials mode, I guess. Anyway, it's really fun and ups the longevity of the game. I still play F.E.A.R. because of this and I got the game when it came out on 360, though now I play the PC version.

It should also be mentioned that this is not the cake walk a normal SP game play would be. Time aside, you're ammo, med-pack, and armor is rationed very sparingly and, well, F.E.A.R. is already known for its difficulty among FPS games, so I'll let your imagination run with how hard IA can get. Most of the spawns are very, very inconvenient, especially the "boss" spawns. Shit can get nuts, fast.

If you're not a F.E.A.R. Vet, you didn't loose anything, it's like never playin' R6V2, but buyin' the third one, which for sake of argument doesn't have Terrorist Hunt, and not carin' because, hell, you don't even know what it is.

I still don't quite get it though. I never, ever, noticed anything like this in the original F.E.A.R. and I had that game shortly after it released oh so long ago. However I was never into MultiPlayer. So, if this was a multiplayer option, then I guess I didn't experience it. So, I guess it wasn't a big loss really afterall. I never bought Fear for multiplayer.

It's modded on the PC version, stapled on/after 360.
