I don't know why I even bother... do what you want.
Kelyon, I find your 'high-and-mighty' remarks incredibly annoying. I think it would be best for you to step back, look at this contest, and see that I have nothing to gain or lose in doing this.
There are pictures I have seen, taken by standard 35 MM pictures, that knock the shit off of 'professional' pictures I have seen. Not cropped/lightened/contrasted/silhouetted or any of those buzzwords 'real artists' use to describe themselves. This is not an artistic contest, this is a photography contest. Take a look at any of Tristam's pictures, or pictures from Yellowstone on a cold winter evening. Take a look at pictures shot in Alaska. Those are incredible, breathtaking, and absolutely perfect without edits or artistic touches.
(EDIT: Please read Stine's post. It captures my exact meaning there.)
Thats all i want to see, because photography is not necessarily something you should want, or even need to edit. There should be some empathy to the picture itself, and the only justification I can directly offer is watching on NatGeo "Winter in Yellowstone." That is where I got this competition idea from.
I apologize for my novice mastery of photography.
Soo...which is it dude? Can we edit or not? I think we need a better definition of "edit" first.
EDIT: Can we submit more than one entry?
