well, got my new issue of EGM in yesterday and was browsing through it. I had been keeping up with E3 last week, especially the SE announcements, but there was something in this issue that wasn't on IGN. in a very small side panel EGM shows a preview for FF7 remake, saying that the tech demo wasn't all we will see of FF on PS3(it includes a pic from the tech demo). This wasn't in the rumor section of the mag, it was in the legitimate previews section for PS3.

Does anyone have any additional info or official confirmation of this? Seems almost too good to be true and I don't want to get my hopes up if this is just nonsense. I know some may not be so welcoming but a more theatrical presentation of that great game would make my year

1UP: OK. My last question is, the FF7 tech demo for PS3 is very provocative. And there are only probably about 15 million people out there who would like to see it become a game. Is he as interested in seeing an FF7 remake as everyone else is?

TN: The PS3 tech demo was actually not the perfect forum that he wanted to have. It was just timing that we had to submit something in time for E3, for the press conference. So, again, it was not perfect forum. And the 7 remake idea was always, always in conversation, just because it's so popular. And then just because of that tech demo here in the PS3 conference, that probably based more expectations of fans, obviously. And Kitase-san already has told Nomura-san so many times that if there is a remake, that should be created by Nomura. But, again, Nomura-san has so many other projects lined up already in the future schedule, so it's almost impossible to think about that and squeeze that in. But if there is a right time, it would be interesting to create.

This is all I've ever heard. Quoted from http://1up.com/do/feature?pager.offset=1&cId=3143672

I heard the Tech Demo was just to show the power of the PS3, and to show what an older game would look like with updated graphics.

all I can say is that it is in the magazine, clear as day. I'll try and scan the page and post it. It gave virtually no info, just a vague, 2007 release date. But you got to wonder, why of all subject mater would they do a tech demo of one of the most beloved FF games of all time? Honestly, this would basically sell me on plunking down $500.00 for a PS3. I'll post more info as I get it

Its easily believeable that they would remake it. It would make more money :P

Btw what page was it on? I didnt notice it...didnt look through it throroughly i guess

Guys.

That's been running around as "fact" for the last few months.

GET OVER IT. IT WAS A TECH DEMO.

Not everything you read in a THIRD PARTY MAGAZINE is going to be fact, regardless where in the magazine it was printed.

Well, they don't preview rumored games in EGM. As far as video game mags, IMO, EGM is the only one worth a piss and I've never had any reason to not believe what they state, been reading for 10 years now

Last year they made a tech demo and the entire world crapped itself.

They're exploring the possibility of remaking FFVII based on that reaction.

In my opinion they would be incredibly stupid not to. I know about 50 people who would (gladly) pay $1000 for a PS3 if FFVII was re-released. SE has said they have their team standing by for further instruction. It's a big difference from last year's comments of "We have no intention of remaking it."

As Tyrath said, it would be in everyone's best interest (Square, Sony, fans) to remake FFVII to the best of their ability and it looks like they are going to do it. As the magic 8-ball would say, "Signs point to yes."

exactly.. why would SE turn down more money? I really don't see why they haven't made it for the PSP or DS yet either.. do you know how many would run out and buy the FF7 game for portable systems? holy hell it'd be sold out in a day

I'm not interested in XBox or PS3.. but if FFvII came out remade? I'd buy in a heartbeat.. so would tens of millions of others... in US alone, let alone Japan.

i sincerly hope this doesnt get made. One, why mess with the original. it should be left as is..
2, FFVII is the biggest fanboy game ive ever known, most the people i know when i say Final Fantasy they say "OMFG! SEPHIROTH!! 7 was the best! no others are even worth playing."
I swear i know two people off the top of my head that think that way, and i have always wanted to beat the crap out of both of em for many reasons beyond that.
but there are so many people like that...its annoying. i hate fanboy crap like that.
7 was a good game yeah, too common of a story but good. and it should just be left at that.
Now if they wanted to make a remake, why not bring one that was never shown in a next gen 3d form like 6, that would be awesome. They have already given FFVII fans a movie, and several game spin offs. That should be enough for FFVII.
the more they do for FFVII the more bandwagon fanboy it gets. FFVII is its own highlighted market now, overshadowing the other far superior titles in the series because its the only one that has been more expanded into other systems, further story lining etc.
I liked it when each FF game was a chapter, and when it ended that was it, the next game began a new cast and story.
but they broke the trend..and i have been saddened since.

I demand FF6 be remade first. I'd love to play it with a new spiffy engine where as FFVII's engine is still decent

No I want FFII (IV) remade first. Cecil and Kain baby!!! Then they are allowed to work on III (VI) but only because of Sabin.

I am with kurgon,

Cecil and Kain 4tw!

Bah, you know FFVI was suprior to FFIV in both story and gameplay. The one thing I will give FFIV is its music, which I still think is one of the best soundtracks of all time. FFVI had KEFKA, how could you not love that laugh!

Hiya Pup!

I love VI, it is my 2nd favorite in the Final Fantasy series. It sits solidly behind IV, with VII in 3rd. As with many things, age and nostalgia has a large factor in why things are your favorites.

FFVI is definitely my fav FF, and I'm looking forward to FFVI advance(and V, w/e new jobs they may implement), I just want to know what they'll include in VI advance that wasn't in the original, being able to bring back General Leo would be sweet...but doubtful, IV advance let you customize your final pt, and added a bonus dungeon with their "ultimate weapons", I hear V advance will get new jobs, so I'm really stoked to see what they'll do with VI advance. Not to forget FFIII for DS, that game is gonna be amazing too.
As for VII remake, I'd love to see it, although not my fav FF, it would sell, and would make a crapload of money for SE, I was watching Advent Children the other day, and was thinking it would be pretty cool to play VII in graphics similiar to that.

None of the original FF's should be remade and revamped. That would be like if George Lucas remade and revamped the Star Wars series with the intent to make money off of a bunch of fan boys, it just wouldn't be right.

An FF7 port to the DS would be godly.

You mean that wasnt the reason he made 30 billion different versions of the Star Wars trilogy?
