FFVII Tech Demo

well, im not gunna get involved in this argument at all, i just wanna say that the tech demo ROCKED, and if they do end up remaking that game... oh man O_O" ::drewlz:: i have always imagined the day when i would be able to move cloud around on the screen without watching his purple-polygons and hooves for hands O_<" (no offence of course, ive just replayed that game like 7 times...hehe)

*Quietly minds his own business and eats a bowl of "L33T*...

I poured $1,200+ into my brand new PC, and if I carried over all my
old parts that I'm using, that'd be about another $600 right there...

I got tired of having lag-a-licious FFXI.

...*Scarfs down a few Zeroes and Ones*...

Mmmm...

Overclock your Breakfast, guys.

Almost exactly the same as my comp except I have FX51 processor and a Viewsonic 19'' Flat Screen monitor. I only paid $1400 USD for my setup though, how bout you?

I guess thats the advantage to knowing how to assemble your own machine from scratch.

Haha the specs on the PS3 own both of your compies, probably put together.

The new NVIDIA RSX Reality synth engine on it is capable of 136 shader operations per second. A GeForce 6800 Ultra is capable of 53.

The new multi-core CPU + NVidia GPU = over 600 million transitors, while the PS2 had around 53.5 million.

And about 2 Teraflops a second... Wow.

More Info Here :o

Edit: Removal of Retarded

Just looking at the PS3's specs for CPU, I know it's going to blow the Xbox 360 out of the water.

And putting together that PC elite, it'd be about 2500 (really ball parking it, only looked at CPU, mobo, RAM, and vid card) to put together, not including monitor and stuff. Also, you have a VIA chipset. Hahaha nVidia chipsets for the win.

Alienware rips you off so bad it's not funny. I bet you paid 3500-4000 for that. And it comes with SP2 installed. Hahahahaha.

Edit: Damn you asplode for posting before me >_>;

It will be a demo. Until SE makes note of the Advent Children sales, sees how many people would buy the game remade, and figures out how much cheaper it'd be to ramake a FF game rather then make another one.

Then they'll hire a SMALL crew for minimal pay and spend over a year releasing the remake.

They said it was a demo at the show. That's probably neither CG (video) nor gameplay. That is probably a scene that the PS3's processors can handle in realtime. There would be no point in showing a tech demo, which it was, if it only made use of the DVD play button. That wasn't pre-rendered.

Please.... let there be an FFVII remake.

lol no game will look like a FMV period especially if its on a console...... what 400 bucks MAX for one? your telling me thats more powerful than my PC rig? LOL!!!!!!!! tech demos are bullshit and are used to overhype shit so kids can get there mommies to put it on the CC for them.....

Ahem, there's this little game called Resident Evil 4. If you haven't played it or watched someone play it then please do yourself a favor and eat a nice bowl of STFU. If you had played or even seen it, you'd realize that games can very well indeed play with the beauty of fmv looks. Hell the cutscenes in that game just about flawlessly feed right into the gameplay. It's a masterpiece quite frankly, both in visual quality and gameplay and it's on the GameCube (not that that means anything negative, because the Game Cube kicks ass). Everything in that game is fluid.

So to say that no game will look like a FMV or like CG cinematics is just wrong. We already have games that look absolutely amazing and realistic out now on the current consoles. With the capabilities of these brand new consoles it could very well be a possibility that games will finally play and feel completely FMV like. It's only a matter of time. Besides, that was a test to show what the PS3 is capable of. Really though, it's up to the game developers to be able to push the system to those limits when making the games. I mean hell, the gamecube and X-box are still quite capable of a lot and yet you still see a lot of titles that just don't utilize everything these systems can do. While on the otherhand titles like Halo 2, and RE4 really use the systems of the consoles to a high extent.

Btw.. that vid fooking rocked my socks off. I can only pray they do make a full remake of FFVII with that kind of kick assness.

well... FFVII PWNz'd all... if it upgrades the quality of the graphics for the whole game in proportion to the improvement of the Cinematic there... welll... <3 Sony

does anyone else love Squeenix's blatant fan abuse?!

aside from looking awsome I found the fact they made this, then neither confirmed or denyed an FFVII Remake hilarious.

Considering how much S-E is totally whoring out the FFVII series, it really wouldn't be surprising to see the series redone for PS3. They weren't talking, but it still wouldn't be a shock to see it. I mean c'mon, FFVII Snowboarding for mobile phones for christ's sakes!

With all the soon-to-be hype of the Advent Children movie and the subsequent Advent Children games that are going to be released, the remake of FF7 to go along with the release of the PS3 wouldn't be all too shocking. Sony knows of the fanaticism surrounding this game and exploits that knowledge into teasers such as this one. I would expect that they might release a reworking of the game with voice acting and updated FMVs, and probably sprites/maps as well. They would probably be able to duplicate the sales figures of the original release and it would be for a minimal cost to remake since the music and story are already finished, and most of the programming for the cut scenes could just be reworked for the new engine. Also, as you can tell, the FMVs would be heavily updated but that scene shown probably took them little time at all to redo.

Could increase your ram a little

You know the funny thing? Some people said originally the market wasn't ready for new next gen consoles? Yet look at all the demo shows they have had showing developers are capable of using the new hardware already.

Plus all the people who know where a chunk of their money is going down the road. :P
