Players,armor and subjobs :-
Ok i dunno why, but day by day i'm finding out that most ppl who play ffxi have mental and emotional problems or most of them are perfectionalists or w/e.First of all u guys make crazy ideas spread them and then u arent willing to accept anything else.Like lets say u have in mind that the best is rng and blm u still should consider that other jobs are equally balanced also, and do a good job in different setups.(Btw i hear this new stuff about not inviting wars sams dragoon and others) .K lets say u get 10k exp an hour still whats gonna happen in the end?.You'll get to 75 abit faster or something. In the past two weeks two of my friends left game cuz they couldnt get party this is totally insane.Like most whms have this in their comment [ veteran].Wtf u mean by veteran.I mean i hate that guy with that on his comment. One day he was new too what about then and now he leveled a whm or something to level 75 and he wants veterans for some reason i dont understand.THis game is goin no where but downhill.Everyday the stat requirements are increasing along with the price of items.Just look at the price of emperor hairpin its freakin 670k and this guy said to me "Hey if i was u i wont tank without a emp hairpin" and i was like wtf .I think either a handful of ppl who have nothing to do but makin their wives work for them while they farm ,or Gil sellers are encouraging this trend of [the best stats] [ best armor] [ and 100s of hrs spent into game].i mean my friend is a level 52 for two weeks and this sunday hes quitting game if he cant get level 54 by sunday (he waits hours and hours waiting for party and he has nice armor too and monk and nin subjob. Then i dont see tailorfw online for a while maybe he quit or something and that guy helped me and others for hrs and hrs and got almost nothing back.He was helping some friend get rdm AF and another whm started yelling at him cuz he was 56 and didnt have raise 2. (He wasnt partying those days). We were about to try farming some mobs together but he hasnt logged in two weeks.

Mages:-
FFXI gave whms the ability to raise and BLMs the ability to warp.but unfortunately a large number of players just walk over corpses or refuse to warp at all.Like if u spend half a minute and 100 mp on a guy to warp him back to jeuno how much would it hurt you? it wont obviously take you 30 to 50 mins. And not raising someone just because he was in ur camp is pointless also cuz i'm sure that guy is gonna come back and camp their again or try to take revenge some other day.Hence more garbage.
Gil:-
So what i mean to say is day by day this game is becoming [incred - tough] for college students who need to study for their future, ppl who work long hrs and students like me.Also people in Ffxi are greedy as hell for something that doesnt even matter much.I mean Nm drops are suppose to be rare and ppl are campin em like fck and are botting them.People are so crazy that they buy gil online with real money and encourage the gil selling (Shame on you dude).
Other games ;-
I play WoW along and i was so damn impressed by that game.People actually help each other out.I entered this new guild and i asked questions and no one called be [ noob - this word doesnt make any sense].
my guild leader welcomed me and gave me tips about how to level in different areas and also came on his mount while he was passing through and gave me 4 bags and dagger that i couldnt afford at that moment.I leveled skinning fast and soon i got requests for leather and and armor and i happily made armor for them and we kinda helped each other out.No need for uber gear but u must have ur level gear and try to borrow/loan from a fellow player.Alliances went and tried out monsters and if someone died they didnt whine like their whole life was turned upside down.Their might be some cheaters but atleast they dont effect the community or players or the auction house.WoW is not a better game or anything its almost the same but the community in their is alot better and caring/sharing as compared to ffxi players.LoL i never cried in two years and i was playing ffxi and i had tears in my eyes.... now thats freaky isnt it....whats goin on in here.I think maybe ppl got used to this behavior after playing with japenese who had language barrier .Sorry for typing this much and i hope u can understand my point and make sense of it.Games are suppose to be fun especially online ones where u try to beat monsters together instead of feasting on each other and making fun of each other's armor.

[thanks for the offer but i'll have to pass] should be removed from tabs ^^

Thanks for reading but plz think about it also.Excuse me for the spelling something wrong and grammar mistakes. :)

I actually took the time to read that. Now my eyes hurt.

Only one comments, give WoW a year it will turn into what FFXI has become. All online games do, they always have.

Truth, and Wolf, if you want people to take your posts seriously, type them out in Microsoft word first, and follow the spelling and grammar suggestions, then copy and paste them onto the board.

Many people may disagree with you (I'm not saying I'm one of them) But the soulbound technique is helping the WoW economy flourish right now. As a matter of fact, (yes there is "gilselling" on WoW too) 1 gold = 2 dollars.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..................

PS I hope I'm not on WSM's server :D

soulbound technique?

The eliteist atitude stems from this concept. I am going to guess the Veteran comment had to have been Garvin, he was the one who got me to start doing it. Time is money. When I am stuck in a PT with fellow lvl 50s who have NO IDEA whatsover what they are doing and can not even put a half assed effort into their job I am pissed. I could be doing numerues other things, varying from making gil to hanging out in my LS chatting it up with friends. When I go to a party the Party comes first, I treat it very seriuesly, people are depending on me and I am depending on them. I do all that I can to hold up my end of the bargain, when they fail to do what they should be as well. I do not need to spend 4+ hours of my life in a party filled with a wide lvl range, people who have shit gear and worse spells, and no DD. There is no replacing a real DD end of story. Lets see a Samurai or DRG whip out a sharpshot slugshot then barrage it for alot more TP. Lets see them whip out a 1200+ dmg Magic burst, or better yet cast Water 3 on the mob and basicaly rip it a new one.

I have no intrest in making anything under 4k an hour, when I can barely pull off 3k with a group of 57-58s??!!! Why is it I had less party incompatence in the dunes with no subs. No I know the answer to that. The game gets HARDER the higher lvl you get, people where making the same mistakes with the same craptastic gear and underlvled subs, but snippers are a whole lot more forgiving then robber crabs.

The only excuse for an underlvled sub is laziness. If you can not spare the effort to level up your subjob then I will not spend the effort on an invite. The stats that it adds would cost hundreds of K in armor. Yet people refuse to do it. The same goes with spells. If you tried you can make the gil. As a 52ish WHM it took me 1.5 weeks to amass the necessary gil for BOTH and then some to buy myself Red cape +1, morion earings, and get clothcraft up further.

These people who can not get their sub up or can not afford an important scroll whine how they are trying to make gil and they can't do it. They blame it on crafting being to costly, or farming to slow or hard. They spend more time excusing and defending their failings then actualy working to fix said problem.
To quate Sean Connery in the Rock, "The loser's whine about their best, the winners go home and fuck the prom queen"

Stop worrying about why others are not helping you and start worrying about being able to help yourself. I have no pity and even less mercey in me for those that can not take care of themselves. Why should I help them If I know thye can not help me?

I would wager that 75% of all equipment on WoW (at least the useful equipment that have stat bonus, etc) are usually "soulbound" by which, once EQUIPPED, it is "bound to your soul."

After that, you may NEVER put it back in the AH again. Bam. Done. kthxbai. Of course, if you upgrade your armor, you can sell your old soulbound armor to an NPC for some pocketchange, but other than that the armor is stuck to you forever. No trade, no AH, no nothing.

"Then how do you obtain armor in the first place?" Equipment such as that is either dropped or made. Again, most soulbound items are labeled "Binds when equipped" So you can either equip it and never be able to sell it or just sell it. Of course, some quests give VERY good equipment, and so they are labeled "bound upon pickup" which means that once you recieve it in your inventory it is soulbound to you.

Sorry for my disorganized paragraphs...

Neat concept, we will have to see how it holds up.

My comment is kind of general about all online game. Basically what it means is no matter what after time, the game gets riddled with idiots, elitist, or cheaters in some form or fashion. This not only includes MMOs, but all online games. From the very first MUDs, MMOs, and FPS, you name it; if it goes online you eventually end up dealing with dick heads.

Yea and I had the...privelege...of playing blizzard games for a few years. First Diablo II and then Warcraft 3. Lets just say that the people who played those games did not indear themselves to me.

Dire, at least at my level, I don't consider 4k an hour an elitist view. Elitist to me want to hit Chain 6-8 on IT++ mobs that give 200exp a kill before the bonus. (Granted big level difference)

ok i can understand the concept of both parties here, and i really hate to agree with wsm, but not everyone has the ability to put as much time and effort as other into the game.

i can understand the fact that you do not want to party with these people, but they chose to play this game because they enjoyed it. just because they are not up to your par gives you no right to make fun of them.

a lot of people who say they don't have time for these people have been playing the game for quite some time and have certain expectations which they require, which is fine, but for a relativley new player who has not gone through everything that you have, how are they going to know to fix it if all you do is insult them and yell at them?

that isn't going to help the problem. it is going to make it worse.

as i said before. it is completely understandable to have standards about who you party with, but it isn't fair to judge everyone as if they should know everything, because not everyone plays the game the same way. if we all played the game the same way, all had perfect shit, perfect job/race then it would be so monotonous and boring. people chose what they did because they enjoy doing it. i know some of you think that that should not matter because of performance, but its a game. people are supposed to have fun.

how are people supposed to get better if you do not give them a chance to? not inviting people to a party bc they don't have the gear you require or the subjob you prefer is somewhat understandable, but yelling at them and calling them stupid, which does happen quite often, isn't going to make them fix it.

i have met some awesome people in this game that when i was completely new took the time to help me out so i knew what to do, and how to make money, but not everyone runs into those people. why not if you see something you don't like, try helping the person, and if they are complete assholes about, then do your thing. instead of just judging them because they are beneath you.

4k an hour is real shit with a well formed party. The problem is most people get some form of a static going. I got friends who where making 7k+ an hour. THAT is what a party is capable of. I will settle with 4... though it seems that positive exp is all I can hope for... Damn I need a static.

Now the game ain't perfect I can tell you that right now. I can SEE WoW declining already, in terms of the people. My guild is AWSOME. Actually I believe hearing that it is one of the best guilds in my server....and I can see why!

*BUT* that doesn't mean that there aren't jerks in it...there are people in there that I despise. I remember making a horde character on another server (and I'm still a newb nonetheless), and I asked how enchanting worked in the general chat and 6 people just replied for me to:

1. You should quit WoW
2. You need to quit
3. Quit life please
4. Cancel your subscription to WoW
5. Delete your character
6. LOL UNDEAD NEWB GO ENCHANT YOUR MOM! (I was in Orgrimmar at the time)

I was completely devastated...I didn't even reply, I was just dazed at how vicious people of the same faction could be!

So, WSM, not everyone is devoted to helping the lower and achieve justice, etc etc blah blah....the game has its flaws within the community. The economy is very strong, but I cannot see where the people are going.

Yea that sounds like the type of ppl who play blizzard games. The only time I have seen people get flamed is when they beg for a PL, gil, or are just being dicks.

My personal view is and always will be let n00bs play with n00bs; elitist play with elitist, common people play with common people, and BST can just play with them selves.

Basically find people in the game who share the same goals as you and stick with them. This way you are never disappointed and you always know what level is expected of you.

Stop bitching.

I'm up at 6AM for school, high school mind you. I'm there from 7:20-2:20, that's 7 hours. Now, I work 30-40 hours a week, 5-10. I log onto the game around 10:30-11:00 and have to deal with friends who are just surpassing me with ranks and levels and I can't even get a party.

What do I do? I bitch about it, yea, in my linkshell because I just enjoy bitching. I really don't mind running around soloing Skinks till I can get my level, or a party. I also have to spend my time farming to afford all of those items I need for my level 40 "ouch" because I like having the best gear, knowing that i'm bringing everything to the table. So before you go off about how you college students have it so hard, understand that I'm running on 4-5 hours of sleep and I am busy with school and/or work for a good 12 hours.

Stop. Feeding. Me. These. Bullshit. Excuses. You're not the only one with a life.

Now, on the idea that these games were meant to have fun with each other. You are right, but they are mostly meant to be a source to have "fierce" competition. Experienced MMO gamers don't come onto a game to have a good time at the expense of others, they come here to make a name for themselves(Making a few friends in the process.) Go play THUG II Online and tell me how long it takes before someone makes you cry s'more.

ROFL “experienced MMO Gamer”. I started playing MUDs and Door Games (which where the first MMOs) over 12 years ago. Guess what, nothing has changed. We had theses same problems then.

While I am on this subject, MMO is a generic term. Playing a MMOFPS is different from playing a MMORPG, which is a real problem. Too many people want to treat the game like a First Person Shooter. Which is not completely the gamers fault; the RPG part of MMORPG has really been lost. Games had so much more content and interaction when they where text based. If you took away the levels, Races and the Classes (aka Jobs) where would you be?
