here is the response i got after sending the ports playonline uses. what a load of bullshit.now i have to wait 2 months until i move somewhere else to play again.

Did your ps2 work for this game before we installed Cisco Clean Access? Or is this a new
Ps2 you just got?

I can't open those particular ports do to them being primarily in the P2P application
range, gaming companies really need to come to terms with this and stop doing it. I will
check to see if there is a playonline plugin for our shaping software that will recognize
the packetheaders and allow the packets through, typically for major companies there are
such plugins.

i have been trying to contact playonline to ask them if there is a plug in or anything i can do, but there fucking phone help number is busy all the god damn time, and if you do get through, you spend half an hour getting through menus and not finding what you need. the internet chat thing sucks, and i waited half an hour yesterday and still had no representative to help me. i almost don;t want to play this game anymore because of all this...

asked them to just open the said ports? Or are they blocked for a reason? <.<;

I don't think getting your own router would work as a bypass to your school's security. You'll be able to change the port settings on your router but it still has to use the same internet connection that your school provides.

I don't know how dorm telephones work but could subscribing to DSL service be an option? It will be an additional expense but if you have roommates that are gamers/internet junkies maybe they can help chip-in.

Do all colleges block these ports? I know the one I am at now does, but also this place is kinda poor-ish.
