FFXI +Vista Problems~

Anyone else have trouble staying connected? As soon as I log on and do anything ingame I freeze and get a message that POL stopped responding. I'm not sure if it's a Vista thing or what?.. Help prease. D:
 
Guessing you already know to download the POL made just for Vista?
 
lol yup, been using the Vista compatible version for a few months now.
Logged on all my other mules and it's fine.. seems to just be Windurst D:
 
Corrupted .dat in Windurst area most likely. You run Check Files application yet?
 
hmmm, yeah, might have to check your files, have you played with your .dats recently? if so you might have messed something up that is also in windurst, forcing you to d/c when you see that specific thing :P
 
did a file check last night. Only dats i've screwed with is my UI. gna try and get on today see if the problem is fixed. thanks guys.

partially kidding, probably has to do with your ui modifications.. or it's a registry problem

Yeah, did the file check and haven't had any problem since. thanks though ^^ Hate Vista but it came with the laptop ;-;
 
im not really sure what the problem might be, but vista software was/is known to have a lot of problems, generally and specifically, so not sure what to do :/
 
Oh boy! I just got a new computer that has vista on it and i hope that when i set it up that i dont have problems.
 
that kids is why i dont mess with my .dat files. i'd probably make an even worse mistake.
 
Another question, can anyone get Windower to work on Vista?

  1. Make sure you have the VISTA Playonline Viewer from playonline.com and that it is the correct region (NA, EU, JP).
  2. Disable Secure Desktop.
  3. Right-Click > Run as Administrator.
  4. Remove any scripts from the init which are set to auto-load (might want to try removing the plug-ins too, you can load them when you're in game.

My Windower works just fine on Vista Home Edition.

How do you disable Secure Desktop? D:
 
*holds up sign saying "why to avoid new operating systems like the plague for a year+ after release"*

Pity that they generally don't give you the *option* of XP on newer computers.
