Ok, bored off my ass until I move back to London in a month, and decided to try and beat FFXII, the only one I've never completed, (X-2 doesn't count, didn't even dignify it with a purchase.)

Now I'm at King Raithwalls tomb or something. Just beat Garuda in under a minute through quickenings and gambits.

Now. Does the game get any better at any point?

The plot seems linear, I can't empathize with the characters, eye candy comes in three flavours (snob, furry and jailbait.) and I have Gambits set up so the game nearly plays itself, all I have to do is steer them to within 15ft of red dots on a map and combat does itself.

Now I'm unsure if I'm not enjoying this BECAUSE it's a Final Fantasy. Under any other game franchise title could I tolerate this? I dunno.

So. Does it get better ever? because playing it feels a bit like a chore.

i thought it was a good game, but thats because early on i imagined it as a final fantasy star wars.

If you aren't enjoying playing the game, don't play it.

The game gets better when you turn it off.

It's one of my favorite FF's, if you aren't enjoying it then don't bother playing.

6 jumped the shark. :<

Well, I'd suggest this, if you don't like the EU version, import the International version, as its far less tedious with the implementation of a FAST FORWARD BUTTON and a more balanced Gambit System.

Horrible game, I'd find something else to do. Even climbin' a tree would be better than playin' through XII which I think is worse than X-2 and X-2 is frickin' horrible.

The opening scene/video is awesome, the videos are awesome, the graphics are awsome (hi2u ps2), but like all FF on consoles, combats are ultra easy and you do fine spamming sword. What I disliked is the NM system, where they have retarded pop condition, and the shit they drop can be bought to an NPC after 1H of progression in the story line.

Try playing it on Active mode with battle speed at max, its a little bit better than just swinging your sword.

I'm replaying it as well, and I'm having a blast doing all the extra stuff and everything. I think its a fun game, but thats all it is.

Also, I had someone tell me it's fun if you set your leader to a mage (geared out like a mage), had your two melees up front and just focused on magic with your leader.
I might try that out.

Eh? I hate healing in FFXI so I'm sure I'd had that as well.

I just keep 2 teams both similar just different characters. I control the tank and then theres the big DD and the healer/nuker. Works well for me.

plot sucks, character sucks, gameplay is well.. varies (gambits make it fail imo), License Grid is fail.. the only fun I had is when you get to the actual bosses cause sometimes they were challenging :P specially me and my no quickenings thing I did XD though, I was quite high in level so that helped. I enjoy playing it every now and then, but very limited amount. The music is prolly the thing that really just makes it unsatisfactory to me. Just annoys me for some reason in most of the game.

Psst... you can turn off gambits.

I would never wanna do that >_> Personally I thought for that particular battle system, gambits were a godsend. So many tedious chores I just didn't have to do myself anymore ;P

The most hardcore you could get with this game is no gambits, active, max speed.
I'd watch someone play through that.

Yeah, I just don't find torture fun for me >_<

I know some people do though lol
