You should be around level 15, heading onto 20+ in that area. The tomb is level 20+ ish.

Just start as close as you can to Dalmasca. as soon as you start hitting around level 16sih start heading into the Sandsea towards the tomb and get as much exp as you can. The bandit like mobs there are great for chaining.

You know there's a temp forum for questions regarding XII. Just lettin you know.

I wouldn't do to much grinding in this game unless you want to be overleveled, something I do frequently without realizing it in RPG's and come to regret. Just going through the levels and killing everything in your path should be enough to get you through this game with relative ease. If you do the hunts and side quests and etc when they become available you'll be fairly powerful. Actually, now that I think about it, this game is so easy you really don't need to be very high level to take on something difficult, if you know the right strategies.
I overleveled when I played it fairly early so I went through most of the game killing bosses in just a minute or two(or less). I think it makes the game less fun that way, I prefer a challenge.

I also remember a slight increase in difficulty when I went through the Sandsea's, so if you're having a little trouble, don't worry about being underleveled, you're still on the right path.

I have to agree. This game is relatively easy if you stick to the basics of having DD Tank Mage in your party. Don't always believe what guides say about necessary levels. I beat Gilgamesh V2 in about 20 minutes with my characters at level 53 when the guides I've seen says it's best to fight him at level 60+ due to his difficulty. If you can kill the mobs in 2-4 shot in the Sandseas then you are on the right track.

Best thing to do while in the Sandseas is to try to get the highest chain you can while going through out the entire map. Best to have two characters using ranged while one is up front with a axe/sword+shield, or really heavy armor and a good DD weapon.

XP wasn't really an issue on my playthroughs of the game. Gil, however was. So in order to keep my gear up to date for all characters, I had to beat up a lot of things, and it was only natural my characters leveled as well.

Level 12 isn't too bad, I made it a rule to match the level of the Guest I had in my party before I fought a boss though. Worked for me!

Also, just keep in mind you can kick the final bosses ass at level 48 or so. Makes it more fun when it's a challenge too!

I find myself having this problem in RPG's sometimes. I'm playing the Phantasy Star series(I-IV) right now, and I'm really pleased with the fact that this isn't happening. There are usually several times during a game that you'll need to do a considerable amount of extra fighting to make some necessary cash, and I've yet to overlevel. I miss the days when games were actually a challenge. All hail the twentieth century. These days it's a challenge just to make it a challenge...how fucking stupid.

Yeah....when I fought the final string of boss battles they all died in just a few swings, under 20 seconds. Sad. Next time I play XII I'm gonna do it shittily.

Well, maybe you shouldve let him use the invincible crap where you cant damage them :|

Well now, the game was fun, you've gotta admit that at least, and the graphics were beautiful. I just wish FFXII had better music... or rather, more musical scores, instead of the same three outside musics and two dungeon musics. :irked:

To make the game more difficult, when unlocking liscenses I gave each character a distictive role, such as WHM, PLD, DD... like in FFXI! Meaning I didn't allow a character to have all the magic spells and a great sword hand... In fact, I kept Balthier and Basch without spells the whole playthrough! I gave Penelo WHM spells and Fran BLM spells, and let Vaan and Ashe pick from a few Green and light White and Dark spells. I gave Balthier and Bashe the heavy weapons (two handed) and gave Ashe and Vaan the one handed with shields. I made the mages use staves.

It made my game more of a challenge, rather than having everyone be able to heal themselves after they take damage due to gambits.

I made jobs too, where everyone has a specific role in battle(whm, DD, and tank or another DD), but I also gave them all their licenses, just in case.

Gil was the easiest thing to get in that game. Once I got to Ozmone Plains all I did was go around with a thiefs armlet(I think?) on Vaan and mainly faught those metal horse things. Steal at the start then kill and you get two of those Iron Carapace things. They go for 413 each so made 826 per fight. Made tones of EXP/LP/Gil in about 30 minutes.

Once I got to Paramina Rift I did the same thing but with the Skull Knights and Dark Lords. Dropped Sturdy Bones for 428 so made around 856 per fight. Combine all the other mobs in Ozmone Plains and Paramina and you can make a SHIT load of gil.

Vaan-DD(Excalibur/Zodiac) Balthier-Tank(Axe/Shield) Fran-Mage(Bow/Katana)
Gave Vaan/Balthier heavy armor due to being tank and doing 5000+ per hit with Zodiac and Excalibur. Gave Fran Mystic armor and Katanas for magic power+

Only thing I find difficult about this game are the marks.

Well, to be perfectly honest, nothing in the game was really difficult, and I never said it was hard to make gil, just it was an issue. If you wanted to progress the story at an *appropriate* level (not too high, not too low) and have updated equipment, you just ended up over leveling in an area to get the gil. It was more of a challenge to keep the game a challenge. :irked:

Some of the Marks were tricky, but only really late in the game. Omega was tricky though, I won't lie and tell you I beat him, because he kicked my ass more than a few times.
