FFXIV Screen Shots thread :)

I don't know where you got this from. Because there is no additional job attached to any class atm, there is no way of knowing if this is true, but I don't think it would be.

Well, I look at it like this. Yoshi has said that he want's to add more jobs but doesn't want there to be too many classes. How else do you do this then? With yesterday's live letter confirming that Scholar is a new job then what is it's class? There's tons of speculation over at the beta forums about Musketeer >> Scholar (which I personally hope is not true), yet when asked if there was any information about Musketeer Yoshi's immediate response was "Nope!" which is two times in a row now he's not given any information about the Musketeer class, so they are likely putting it on the backburner because they want to add more magic classes and then add scout classes (which might be what Musketeer ends up being, who knows).

There are also those that feel that because Scholar is seen holding a book (in the job wheel of that Microsoft desktop background), like Arcanist and Summoner, that it branches off from Arcanist. I find this more viable personally, but it then opens up a host of questions about multi-jobs that I already said in my last post.

You have to level the job from 30 when you equip a job stone into your class slot. I was a Lancer and at level 30 I did the DRG quest, equipped the DRG stone, and was a level 30 DRG and then went on to 50. I think if I equipped a different job stone onto the lancer, it would be level 30 again and I'd have to take THAT job to level 50.
For both our sakes, I hope you are correct as I would like to see that be the case as well. However, when you would take Drg to 50, your base class Lnc also becomes level 50. Not level 30 where you switched off to level Drg. Therefor since jobs are tied to the class, if you were to get a second job available to Lancer the quest would likely be level 30 but you'd be unlocking it on your lvl 50 Lnc or 50 Drg (though, it probably would only unlock while you are on the Lnc class - just a guess). While you'd unlock it and then have it, your base class is already level 50 because you took the Drg job to 50, your new Job will be level 50 as well because in this game jobs are the same as your class, it's just a different variant of it designed for group mechanics where specialized abilities open up and you lose the ability to use abilities from other classes.

Trust me, I really do hope I am completely wrong about this. But the way the game works.. I just don't see it happening the way we would like.

I'm glad we're both on the same page, but I think I'm right. Here's why:

Before jobs came out in a patch, and there was just classes, I was already level 50 Lancer. When I did the DRG job quest when it was brand new, and equipped the job stone, I was a level 30 DRG. So I went 50 LNC > 30 DRG.

At least I'm pretty sure I did.. this was at least a year ago and my memory is hazy. I'm 95% sure this happened. Maybe 85%.

But yeah, I foresee only a few classes and jobs stemming from them. I can see Arcanist branching into both summoner and Scholar, however, Arcanist has carbuncle. Will Scholar be using Carbuncle or will it lose it? :S

I think we will find out during e3 about how Scholar fits into the game. I am excited and I can't wait! Soon I will be able to play again on the Balmung server.

Well Rips, bit of a necro bump now, but hey.. looks like I was right after all unfortunately. So I had pretty much made up my mind on how I am going to level my jobs until I hear word about where Dark knight is coming from, when it inevitably does come. And I have been sticking to my plan so far. I leveled Arcanist first, unlocking Smn and only focusing on Smn as I have no desire to play a Scholar ever. However, if I did unlock Sch I would instantly be a lvl 50 Sch, and with gimp Sch stats since I went Smn main.

I am going to level Mrd and Gld to 30, unlock War and Pld but not going to play them beyond that point in case Dark Knight somehow stems from Gladiator or Marauder in the future. Also, so I don't screw up my stat point allocation too badly if indeed Drk is pure dps job, I don't want to be set to be tanky.

Well that sucks. I don't like that at all. It kind of reminds me of how they locked in stats with physical levels in 1.0.

Anyway, I don't play the game anymore, at all. The world just felt way to small for me and I didn't feel any pull at all. Plus, I'm back in FFXI pretty hardcore going for a mythic with some friends. Did you know you only need 3 people to get into assaults now?

Not even sure what assaults are tbh, lol. Must have been something either added after I quit or something I never participated in.

I'm still playing XIV, and to me it's pretty awesome. There's still some new content I haven't completed/tried yet since the 2.1 update (which really added a lot more for endgame activities). Just had my first go at Extreme Mode Garuda last night and.. while she is fairly hard the mechanics, once you know them, aren't too bad. Seems a lot of people are getting hung on on Titan EX, but I can't even comment on that yet since I'm not there. The new dungeons are pretty fun. Even Crystal Tower is pretty interesting yet not super difficult, but the gear drops there are pretty unique; the only thing I don't like is the gear lockout once you get an item (you can't lot anything else until the Monday reset). They even completely updated Revenant's Toll, expanded upon the area to where it's very different now yet matches the story progression of the main story.

Really though, I feel like this update was a huge step forward in terms of content added. The only negative aspect I can easily point out is how unobtainable they made FC housing, with insanely high costs to purchase land. Yoshi didn't follow his word back when he said it would only cost what 5 players could make (in terms of gil) just from leveling from 1 to 50. Honestly, on my server it would take 10-15 or more players combined gil from leveling 1 to 50 just to be able to obtain the smallest land/house. And who would actually willingly want a tiny ass house, equivalent to a Mog House in XI, but for a whole FC/Guild. Nobody with a brain, that's who.
