Final Fantasy 13 Hype Thread (the 2nd)

Bah, getting to that wyvern that gives the shop that gives more weapons, Mission 46, I finally decided I'd try death squad for it cause I got sick of it >.> I've almost had it in long ass battles of slowly whittling it down, but ya. Death squad, 5 star'd it, never doing it again :P 4 more to do, though 5 to 5 star. Then I'm done with the trials of the titan dood and I still haven't gone to chapter 12 yet

Edit: Scratch that, 3 to do, 4 to 5 star (stupid humbaba only 3 star'd). But ya, that mission 48 with the Verdelet was a joke.

Edit 2: The Tyrant mission in Titan's Trial was also a joke :3 easy 5 star.

When you think you can kill Adamantoises (without death), here's a little strategy I use:

Set up your party as Fang - Lightning - Hope and have these Paradigms:

SAB + RAV + RAV
COM + RAV + RAV
COM + COM + RAV

Pop a Fortisol and run up to the Adamantoise
Summon Bahamut (Don't use Gesalt) and debuff the turtle with Deprotect, Deshell, Slow, and Imperil
After the buffs are on, switch to Relentless (COM + RAV + RAV) and start beating it up with Bahamut
It should stagger as Bahamut goes away or shortly after
Keep fighting til it's Chain is at 999%
Switch to Aggression (COM + COM + RAV) til it's dead

The only issue with this is that your going to have to get TP after every battle. So if you do it in Eden with that one turtle, you should kill it then kill the enemies on the way back to that door, go through the door, go back out, and kill it again.

Hope it helps for anyone who wants to kill them without death :x. You can do this before you complete the story.

The way I do it now is:

Set up your party as Fang - Lightning - Hope and have these Paradigms:

MED + SYN + SYN
SAB + SYN + SYN
COM + RAV + RAV
COM + COM + COM

Run up to the Adamantoise
Let 6 buffs go up on all 3 of them and heal with Fang
Summon Bahamut (Don't use Gesalt) and debuff the turtle with Deprotect, Deshell, Slow, and Imperil
After the buffs are on, switch to Relentless (COM + RAV + RAV) and start beating it up with Bahamut
It should stagger as Bahamut goes away or shortly after
Keep fighting til it's Chain is at 999%
Switch to Cerberus (COM + COM + COM) til it's dead

Alright guys, jsut beat the game. Someone needs to show me how to do a spoiler thingy because I have some shit to cry about.

All in all, fantastic game. One of my top 3 FF's. The ending is sort of what I expected, except with the absence.

After every FF game's end since 7, I always feel a little sad for some reason. Maybe because it's the end.

for spoiler tag :P just no spaces of course

Oh so it's just like any other way of putting something.

Spoiler:
Now I realize what the FFXIII logo is, Fang and Vanille. The whole time I thought it was Lightning and Serah for some reason. With that being said, I really wish Fang and Vanille didn't go into crystal stasis. Why would they even need to? I understand it is a "reward" but it still seems sad.

Spoiler:
Because now they can make a sequel to the game. Either they can make it so they are trying to get Fang and Vanille back or maybe Fang and Vanille uncrystallize and look for the rest of the gang to solve another issue. They are considering making a sequel so I was wondering how exactly they were going to end it. If they were to just let everyone leave happily, what else would there be to do without pulling something completely out their asses?

I thought it was a good, yet unexpected, ending.

Wow, I didn't know there was talk of a sequal but that rings a bell with me thinking FFXIII-2. I don't want there to be a switch in gameplay like that so I would hope they do it well.

Spoiler:
I had no idea Barthandelus created Cocoon either and that everyone was originaly from Pulse.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty surprising for there to be talk already and I heard about it like 2 weeks ago.

Spoiler:
Yup!

I just wrote a reply but not sure where it went.

I'd totally be down for a sequal, would be nice to seem them all again in the future.

Reading my guide after I finished the game, in the story recap it states
Spoiler:
that barthandelus created Cocoon long ago and forced the transfer of people from Pulse to Cocoon, calling it a paradise to lure everyone in. That probably explains why Oreba is empty and why the war of transgression happened, to fend of the "purge" to cocoon I guess, which was backwords of what we were used to in the game.

Spoiler:
Actually I believe Oerba was empty for other reasons. As you may recall, near when Fang is introduced as a character, she spoke about how cocoon was portrayed as a viper's nest, one that posed a threat to Pulse. As such the war of transgression was unrelated to this exodus to cocoon, sine it had already been established and was feared but those still on pulse. If you read the analects that are unlocked in the datalog as you complete certain parts of the game and cie'th stone missions, you can get an accurate history of what went down.

Finally beat that stupid Neochu for the Titan's Trial >< still that last thing to try. I really REALLY doubt I can beat that guy at my current Crystarium level, but that won't stop me from trying for hours on end. Just gonna go do some other stuff first, hah. :P.

That guy was a pushover. Didn't need to read strats, just went in and five starred it. Granted my crystarium is a higher level than yours, but if you were able to take down all the other titan's trials, you can probably bring down attacus. I've got three missions left myself ... that damn cactuar (the huge one) is a pain in the ass. I don't wanna fight the raktavija mission in the steppe because it will turn the turtles into long guis, and I haven't unlocked #64. Anyone know if there are any analects after the twelvth? I'd like to read the story as a whole, but figure there's probably one unlocked after beating the final mission.

you can finish the missions without triggering the Long Guis, the trigger is changing the weather by re-attempting one of those missions.... i found out the hard way, but i finally took the big boy down, the only way I could do it is by changing to SEN SEN SEN for EVERY ATTACK

Also, some of you may have not noticed yet, but your unnatural SYNs have access to Protectra, Shellra, Bravera and Faithra... Those spells have almost double potency and can really turn the tide in a battle

Oh, and the trick to Gigantuar is Daze.... I had to do alot of paradigm switching, Attack, daze, heal, attack, daze, heal, and buff ocasionally. I recommend going SAB MED MED for landing Daze, you dont want your party members canceling the effect by accident..

Thanks for the info. My one paradigm with a SAB in it is SAB MED SYN, but given the way it attacks yours would probably be more effective for this particular battle. On my first attempt where I had a chance at this, I got it down to about 10% without using daze, then all of a sudden it it turned on my lead character D:

Honestly I think for now I'll just focus on character development, since it's about the only thing left and there's a lot of it to do. They're all in the second to last tier of their first secondary role so I have a lot of work to do. That plus I need lots and lots of gil for weapons. I tested out how far I could stretch my money and I was able to upgrade my banescissor pole thing to a kain's lance at around level 25. I wasn't impressed honestly. Maybe I should dismantle it for the three traps and start over using taming pole.

A "cheap" but kinda slow way to do Gigantuar is to use Sazh as Ravager, a Sentinel, and a Medic. Then just spam Flamestrike, Fire, Flamestrike, Fire, Flamestrike. Every time he uses Flamestrike, he takes a step back which gets him completely out of range of Gigantuar. Just keep auto-attacking that. That way he only hurts the SEN and MED (more the SEN than the MED) and the MED will just heal them up.

I tried Gigantuar like 5 times a different way and it was waaaaay too tough. I didn't have SEN SEN SEN though.

well picked the game back up today after a couple of weeks break from it (mainly due to having a whole slew of Exams this past week and the one before). Decided to go after Neochu to get the Growth egg, and 5 stared it on my first try thanks to Random: Stagger. I hadn't even realized it happend until I started launching it... <3 Random: Stagger.

I have get to get Random: Instant Stagger to proc for me lol. Nice job GBB.

man I get that to proc all the time. it's never been uber noticable like on that fight. but I know that I've seen it proc quite a few times. When I first got it I didn't even notice it procing until I realized that one hit didn't normally up something by 300% >.>

Yeah I've only used it on boss fights/missions and I just wait for it to proc and it never does lol. I don't worry about it too much on regular enemies.

I've only seen it proc once for me too >< that Neochu is such a pain in mah butt. But considering I'm still only on Chapter 11 I'm pleased I beat the Titan's Trial one. I still need to do the other one for Growth Egg. I just gave up on doing it normally and death'd it. Using Vanille, Fang, Sazh (I'd use hope but he's too freaking low in HP for screech) and basically Sazh was perma-synergist/medic. Vanille would be saboteur or medic and Fang was perma-Sentinel. Maxed out a ton of defense accessories and used that. Not sure what helps against screech damage. I can't tell if it's the earth based attack or if it's physical or if it's magical. Any idea what screech is classified as?
