Final Fantasy 13 Hype Thread?

I like the POV switching, I'm at The Sunleth Waterscape now past the 4 scalebeasts with Vanille and Sazh, and they don't seem much like "support job" characters.
Sazh as Commando and Vanille as Ravager is quite nice, and can do fine enough damage.

Anyways, it opens up a lot Chapter 11+ when you reach Pulse, and around then you can start choosing which 3 characters you want to use as well as the leader.

Hold on. It opens up at chapter 11? There's only 13 chapters. Isn't that towards the end of the game then?

Story-wise kinda, gameplay wise no.
Storywise Chapter 11-13 can last a long while, even longer if you do everything, including missions, CP grinding and leveling weapons/accessories.
Possibly same amount of time if not more than the previous 10 chapters.

With everything thats there is to do, chapter 11 onwards can take up half of the game if not more.

Just got to Sulyya Springs.
Still having a blast, but holy fuck the AI Medic can be a pain sometimes. If one person is in Red HP but the other two are in fairly high yellow, the AI will prioritize Cura twice over Curing himself five times.
Also, the long time it takes to Paradigm Shift the first time in every battle is annoying and even killed me in a few pinches, but I've gotten around that by controlling Lightning/Sazh, but that still doesn't change the fact that they'll stand around for three or four seconds while the game is watching the other two party members shift.

Just started chapter 9 (I think? I'm in the chapter after Nautilus). I'm a little sad that the story ends in just four chapters, it seemed like there was more they could do with it, but I'm in no way disappointed with the game as a whole. I just hope that after CP grinding everyone to max, the final boss isn't going to be a total pushover like in FFX when you did that to fight Nemesis. Fang is awesome, I'm making her my main person as soon as I'm given the chance... I'm thinking Fang / Lightning / Hope for final (main) setup. What about you guys?

I bet the new Chocobo's Dungeon game is going to take place inside Sazh's afro.

The final boss will be a pushover after maxing everyone out. You don't even unlock the final stage of crystarium until after the last fight. You're supposed to max out for optional fights :P

If you play the game you'll know. Chapter 9/10 are fucking huge. I think those two chapters together took about the same time it took me to get up to chapter 9. Chapter 11, 12 and 13 are even larger, and the side quests etc take a long time as well.

And Shome, the game isn't over once you beat the game. Its almost impossible to do the final side missions without having beaten the last boss.

As for the main guys, I'm doing Lightning/Snow/Hope, mainly because those cover my favorite Paradigms, being med + med + sen for healing, com + com + ravager for stagger killing, rav + rav + rav for putting enemies in stagger, and com + com + syn (or com + rav + syn/rav + rav + syn depending on situation).

And never use only one medic :P use as many medics as you can for healing, as that will mean the total time to heal takes under a second at which point you can switch back to a pure DD Paradigm.

LMAO! This is...

Spoiler:

That's, uh...
there aren't really any words I can use to emphasize the stupidity of that crowd.

Anyway, I'm still stuck around Sulyya Springs.
I've hit a pretty big wall in terms of how badly the enemies are kicking my ass, so I'm grinding a bit in order to at least get my main team's job levels up to level 4.

Interesting that we're allowed to play even after beating the final boss. I was under the impression there weren't any side bosses from what I've read here and there, maybe it was just misinformation. Now that I think about it it seems like all of the mainstream FFs have had those "harder-than-the-final-boss" side bosses (Emerald weapon, Omega weapon, Ozma, Nemesis, and Yazimat to name a few). I'm glad to hear there's a lot more waiting for me ... too bad I have a paper to write for Wednesday ; ;

That paradigm setup sounds sexy, but I'm not a big snow fan TBH. Fang is close enough, I'll be happy with w/e setups that grants me. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if I were able to achieve the same ones looking them over ... maybe not the rav rav rav one.

Unrelated: I'm feeling like they should have taken a slightly different angle with the eidolons. Morphing into stuff seems a little corny to me, and I won't even get into how weird some of these things they morph into are ... mind you I just got the third one so I haven't seen all of 'em yet.

Hoping I can get to chapter 11 by the end of the night but that's looking pretty unlikely at the moment.

There's the 64 Cie'th stone missions on Pulse, some of them are required to advance in the story.
Latter missions will need the final crystarium level from beating the final boss.
Vercingetorix is the hardest boss in the game, think it's mission 64. Has nearly 16 million HP.

Some of the missions when finished will replace some Adamantai's on Pulse with Long Gui's, a regular enemy harder than the final boss, and source of platinum ingots to sell to buy components for synthesis and trapzohedrons used in ultimate weapon creation. This enemy also has 16 million HP.

Anyways, when I am able to I likely will make Fang, Lightning and Hope my main 3, possibly throwing in Vanille's in Hope's place.
Just got to Chapter 8, Nautilus, before I had to save and run some errands.

I know you're all straight, but I just gotta say, Snow Villiers is one damn sexy beast.

Good to know, though I'm a much bigger fan of fights that involve strategy, rather than fights that involve endurance. That Yazimat fight in FFXII was a huge pain in the ass. Not hard, just a pain in the ass. Kinda weird how unimportant the final boss is to the game IMO.

They go pretty quick, in this game you can hit fucking hard.
They are more about strategy with the paradigms and staggering an enemy rather than time consuming, people have wasted mission 64 and Long Gui in 5 minutes if that with their 16 million HP they have.

And the final boss is important, and cheap, spams an instant death move, if it's on the leader, game over.
Such cheapness..
