Final Fantasy 13 Hype Thread?

Its usually only English, French, Spanish, Italian and German. Unless its a game aimed towards younger people, in which case they're released in Swedish, Finnish, Czech etc.

Yeah, but my point is that language doesn't equal content, otherwise American PC Gamers should rage because of all the languages European releases come with.

The reason why dual audio is available nowadays is not due to weeaboos, it's due to preference of the person playing it, and to ultimately avoid badly acted dubbing.
How do you know the Japanese is any better? It could be utterly horrible, but if you don't speak the language, then you'd have no idea.

English voice work is very good for big titles, it's only the small ones with almost no budget for that kind of thing that have bad voice work.

What MS actually set at the beginning of this generation of consoles in terms of audio, developers never followed through on 360 because they sure don't want to pay extra royalties for more discs for dual audio, and have ultimately suffered for it, for example, Star Ocean The Last Hope, the dialogue is awful! The reason why dual audio is available nowadays is not due to weeaboos, it's due to preference of the person playing it, and to ultimately avoid badly acted dubbing.

That really just depends on the person I think. Animes I prefer english sub. But in video games I'd rather listen to english dub, good or bad than to read everything.

That's because on animes, they get pre-pubertal kids to voice them which no previous voice acting skills, and it just hurts your ears. On games, it is usually more serious nowadays.

You mean women with no voice acting talent. Very few "kids" make it as voice actors. The kid who did Alphonse Elric is the only one I know of off the top of my head. He was 12 or 13 when he did that role.

As for games. Most of the "bad voice acting" ones aren't so much terrible voices, as much as terrible script/acting pace/tone/enthusiasm. An example of all of these in one package: Shining Force 3. None of the voices were terrible, it was just how they acted. They all fit their characters for the most part. Except Hayward, but it just made him even more awesome. An Elf who yells "BULLSEYE" in the most rugged and gruff man-voice ever to grace video games is badass. Noon however, made up for it all with this atrocity. Way to be the gayest Elf ever, Noon.

More examples of the terrible acting quality of SF3

God damn it, Skaw. I tried so hard to forget SF3 when it came out after how it actually did rape my childhood of SF1&2. Now all the terrible memories are flooding back to me.

SF3 is a great game. If you play with the TV muted. The acting quality is as if Sega of America rounded up their interns and threw them in to a sound booth.

Spring 2010 supposedly for us I think :P but not sure. (was in the Microsoft presentation at E3) soo hm...

That's way sooner than I expected (btw, rage totally gone with MS conference yesterday, I'm beginning to like what they've got)

MS impressed me with something too :P but I'll say it on E3

Final Fantasy XIII is due in Japan later this year. And in North America during Spring, 2010. But when can Europeans (and by extension, Australians) get their hands on it? Do they dare to hope for a speedier turnaround? After all, the last core Final Fantasy title, FFXII, was released in Europe a whole year after it was out in Japan.
Well, Europeans, best keep hoping, because Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama told us today that as far as the European version of the game goes, they're targeting a 2010 release.
Not the 2011 release comedians/pessimists would have picked, which is why we're passing this on, but 2010 can still mean "late 2010". Which would, again, be a whole year later than the Japanese release.
Yay, Kotaco.

'kay. I didn't think ports took a few years anyway.

I'm still betting it's gonna delay the PS3 release, that is, the PS3 release coulda been earlier. I don't get why 360 gets timed exclusives but it's wrong for the PS3? *shrugs* ah well. Won't kill me to wait more. Prolly will be good if it's closer to the end of the semester anyways :P

It isn't wrong for the PS3 to have timed exclusives. It's wrong for Sony to believe their previous success means developers will file in line for them without incentive. Hence losing everything.

Did anyone notice the Q2 update? I was just on Gamespot and it says 2010 Q2. Not sure if this is new info or not but new to me. I pretty much guessed that period anyway.

I seriously think we may see a beta for XIV before XIII gets released. I have nothing to go except a hunch.

Was downloading the client for open beta about to start and it suddenly went to 0% >.>, il have to retry tonight and tomorow.
