Final Fantasy 13 Hype Thread?

The license board wasn't necessarily bad, but the sphere grid is better.

The license board in the "international" version was better (stupid SE and their bullshit names) cause it actually improved it a bit so it wasn't so bland lol.

I think personally I know more who love the sphere grid over license, but on forums I visit they go "ZOMG FFXII WAS THE BEST FF EVER!" (well best since 9)

Really? I liked it as a game, but not as a Final Fantasy. Its probably my least favorite 3d FF for sure. I remember making a long post about it when the game had recently come out. But yeah, I don't think FF12 is that great.

Yeah it was announced on friday

I enjoyed FF12 but personnaly i think the story was a bit lacking in the character development. The liscense grid was cool casue you could make strage combinations of stuff, like Bow& Arrow weilding white mage, or Lance wielding theives and other fun stuff like that.

But the lack of character development of the main character Vaan.... I mean really you pretty much forget he's in the game toward the end.

I play FF games for the story and how that story makes you really get to know the characters involved and then love or hate them in regards to what they do.

this is my list of best lvling/ magic learning systems...

Materia(ff7) >>> Esper (ff6) >>>>> SPhere (ff10) >>>> Classic (ff4) >>> Liscense (ff12)

FF8s draw system sucked ass

Here's a scan of some of Grand Pulse's denizens, from Jump, also

The official name for Pulse is Grand Pulse. Throughout Grand Pulse there are things (NPCs? Objects? Not sure.) known as Dark Inscriptions, which provide optional missions for the player. This is the new gameplay system revealed this week.

Possibly something akin to hunting marks in XII, I loved that.

Spoiler:

Jumbo Cactuar! And that giant thing is an Adamantai/Adamantoise..see your characters by it. If you got to climb that a la Shadow of the Colossus that'd be awesome, also Behemoth

Draw system sucked, yar (at least the way they did it) but the Junction system wasn't a bad idea on paper. It just was horribly implemented. They could have improved it so it was still worthwhile to use magic and wasn't so easy to OP :P (also the leveling being pointless bothered me too).

Anyways, FFXIII does look like it'll be a very interesting world to run around in :) I just hope you can have a little more action with your character outta battle (jumping, climbing, etc). FF needs to incorporate that shit and add some more puzzles into dungeons for epic winnage.

No thanks. Leave your platformers out of my RPGs please :<

Platforming + RPG = win :| there was platforming in KH1 and it is superior to KH2 and many other RPGs D:

Yeah but are the numbered FFs platforming RPGs? No. And they should stay that way.

I wouldn't want platforming FF's, but something like X-2 where you just hit X to jump up/down/etc. I don't mind.
Not actual platforming. I'll stick to my Mario's, Ratchet and Clank's, Uncharted's, Jak and Daxter's, etc. for that.

What'd be so bad with platforming in a FF? :\

You'd be disturbing the games soul and purity and it would be the end of the world.

Quoted for Truth!!!

But i agree that a bit more of the 3d aspect should be encorperated into the dungeons and puzzles.

Wether its just making more climbing/ jump off points or something else. It just needs more in my opinion..

Also this question was asked and i didnt have an answer for it....

Was the reason that Tidus, Waka, Rikku and all the other blitzball players didnt need to breath under water ever explained in FFX? Cause i was trying to wrap by brain around that and i just cant recall where they explain that, if at all.

As Blitzball players, Tidus and Wakka learned how to hold their breath for extended periods of time.
Rikku however has that breathing apparatus she uses to breath underwater as an Al Bhed, she isn't a blitzball player.

Same thing that'd be wrong if they say, turned zelda into a turned based RPG. It just isn't that type of game. If you want that go play other games.

Magic, don't think too hard about a FF mechanic in a world that's fantasy anyways :P but ya they trained for it supposedly (even though a normal human can train but there's a limit and they go WELL beyond it XD)

and I'm not asking it to be entirely focused on that, just a little more platforming would be nice. It's not gonna ruin it, didn't ruin FFX-2 (a ton of OTHER things did that :) )

Well in X-2 it wasn't platforming either, it was press X here to automatically jump up/climb up/down a cliff or w/e.
What everyone was gathering from you that you wanted full blown platforming a la Mario in XIII, and everyone agreed no.
If you had specified like X-2 then yeah it's fine in that respect.
And I love X-2, other than the girl power, but the dresssphere job system, the mission based story, and the fast paced ATB I all loved.
