Final Fantasy 13 Hype Thread?

You ride a fucking train, suddenly it's FF7 all over again.

And you fight a mechanical scorpion thingy for your first boss :) and Lightning is totally female Cloud but more manly

Damn right, it looks just like FFVII. I mean, compare that video to this screenshot I took of the PC version of FFVII.

God damn, I'm seeing double.

Wow, way to go SE, just ripping off FFVII again. I mean that SS proves it.

Wait, I haven't read about the battle system. You only control one character???

Yeah and others are computer controlled, you can change the one you control, but not in battle. No gambits like XII, so the AI for your other characters better be top notch. The CSB (Command Synergy Battle) is really fast and you're already constantly inputting commands for the character you control which decreases their ATB gauge. Maybe we'll be able to adjust minor AI details, but nothing like XII's gambits.

It reminds you of VII Elem, and you dislike XII.
And?

It's not VII, and gee, VIII must be VII cause you're on a train too. And it's a mechanical boss, as you may have noticed by now Cocoon is highly technological. Oh no, we're on a train then I'm fighting a floating mechanical boss that kind of reminds me of Guard Scorpion with a black dude with a gun, what is this shit?
It's being developed by Square Enix Production Team 1, which are the ones behind X and X-2.

Oh and the rankings, just do well, consider it like DMC's style rating, per battle basis, and the better you do the better the rewards you get for item/equipment creating. I kind of like that aspect actually, and it's not like you won't have a chance to try again to get something better. It's the joy of FF's, plus one time only bosses won't have things you can only get from them. But I do foresee doing the Cie Corpse missions multiple times to get certain items, which I'm fine with. It's basically like the overkill system from X, which was double items and AP, but throughout the entire battle,

Uhh, that just took my excitement for this game down a notch. I enjoy having control of all my characters in battle :|

AI can be done right. Take Tales games for example.

It can also be done very, very wrong. We'll see which way they go.

Eh, SE will make it good, yeah I enjoy controlling everyone, but with this battle system I'm not sure it would work.
"Tales of" series has great AI, and we do have the paradigm shift/roles, which we can probably set tactics for your team.
It won't detract the excitement or enjoyment from this game, and I'm still anticipating it as my #1 wanted game.

Persona 3 had great AI.

Just throwin' it out there :>

That it did, as did 4, though you could switch it to control your characters in that, but if you did use the AI it seemed a bit better than P3's.
SMT is awesome.

I think I would be happier if you were able to switch your character mid battle. But being stuck with the same one all fight feels like a pain :<

Oh come on, the game starts off on a train rushing into somewhere and the first boss is a scorpion attack thing and Lightning IS a female Cloud.. it was what the development team wanted for her >.> There are blatant comparisons to FF7 but I'm not saying it's a FF7 rip off. It seems more like they took a lot of other FF elements for this one. I'd say a lot of the characters remind me of 8's (appearance-wise) too. Ignoring that there's a lot of influence from other FFs would be dumb. I never said I had a problem with that either, I just find it amusing that it's a little more like one in that opening than others.

Star Ocean did it fine :P

Ah that is true but generally nearly every FF demo started off with the beginning :P I think only FFXII's wasn't.

VIII started at the Dollet mission, and you also had Rinoa with you and Leviathan, not sure of IX's if it had a public demo.

And I'm not ignoring it had influences from other FF's, it's just not FFVII-2.

Um ok? I don't care who did it fine, I don't like the idea. I enjoy controlling all my characters. Its still the game I'm looking forward to the most, just my excitement was lowered a little bit.

Ok, found the translation of Kimi ga Iru Kara, last thing I bring up about it I swear:

Comparing this with "My Hands", yeah this still wins, this is way more awesome.

Oh and "Eternal Love" looks to be the one getting replaced with "My Hands" during the Snow/Serah fireworks scene for the NA release, and we'll still have Kimi ga Iru Kara playing at the end credits. Least that's what it seems like so far, we won't know until we get the game in March.
And "Eternal Love" sucks imo.

Click on trailers in menu and select the 4th trailer, the new one.

In it we see Vanille's summon, which we have no idea what it is yet, it seems to be a new Earth based summon as it's moves have been translated, Gatling Cannon, Tetra Missile, Penetrate Ray, Buster Force and it's ultimate attack is Gaia Salvo.

Also shows 3 new characters, 2 guys and an old guy, the old dude looks like bad news.
The first new guy with the dark longish hair is the Cid of FFXIII, he introduces himself to Snow as Cid Rayne.

And a rough translation of the trailer it seems that Cid and the other rugged looking young guy become slaves of the fal'Cie (l'Cie?) and we may end up getting one of them as a 7th playable character.
Probably not though, but maybe a secret one, as the promotional poster for the game has been released and it only has 6 characters on it.

Haven't heard "Eternal Love" yet, one sec, I'll go check.

Edit: Ok, lesser of two evils with this song, I'll go ahead and say as long as they don't replace Kimi ga Iru Kara, then they can work around this second theme song whichever way they want, I don't particularly like either. from hearing them.

SE really should've worded that announcement better really, would've saved them a lot of grief.

Edit 2: Ok, my annoyance has subsided, I'll be buying both the Japanese version and the English version.
