I've got a problem: If I pick this up tonight at midnight, I'm going to be up all night playing it. Do I have the patience to wait until tomorrow?????? Stay tuned to find out...

Same problem here. I don't think I'm gonna do it. Otherwise Im gonna end up being up all night and not be in classes tomorrow. I'll go get it after my classes are done I think.

Well as I just posted in B@W my copy was only just sent today at 11AM so I doubt I'll get it tomorrow. This has never happened with me and play.com and sometimes I usually get the game a day early which is sweet. You know since they try the hardest for you to get it on release date. I'm going to ring my mum tomorrow to see if it turned up, if not I'm going into town to get a copy right after school. Unless I can convince my brother to go to midnight launch tonight...

Then when my play.com copy comes, I'm sending that back to them.

Just read what I said and would usually think "omg Mitchell, stop being a fucking nerd it's just a computer game?" But I've been looking forward to this for fucking ages now! I'll make the exception just this one time.

I know what you mean though, I bought a PS3 years ago for this game specifically. I've got a lot of enjoyments out of it, but I initially bought it for FFXIII xD

Picking up mine tonight and will pretty much be playing it once I get home and all day tomorrow. Trailers look nice, but advance reviews coming in have me wondering. No cities, no mini-quests, not many weapons.

However, are there Chocobo's? What about Cid?

There are chocobos and there is indeed a cid from what I've been told.

I think I'm going to go get mine tonight and try to only play it for an hour before bed. We'll see how that goes.

No minigames, but there's sidequests, specifically, one sidequest consisting of 64 mission monsters, kind of like the Mark system in XII, many of them harder than the final boss.
Also a regular monster you can fight that is harder than the final boss.

Well, there's a pseudo-esque minigame, like of like Chocobo Hot and Cold, that's on Pulse.

And yes, there's a Cid.

There's cities/towns, but generally you're not there for R&R, and most have enemies in them.

There's plenty of weapons, there's 8 tier 1 weapons for each character, ultimately upgradeable to tier 3, or ultimate weapon level.
Depending on the base weapon your ultimate weapon's stats change, so 8 variations of each characters ultimate weapon.

They should have added a relic weapon for each character that takes 1-3 years of grinding 6-8 hours a week to get just to fuck with all the uber fanboys out there.

on my way to camp this out now, not looking forward to the fact you cant even level up till around the 4 hour mark of playing...seriously, what idiot thought that up!?

Edit for the sake of not creating a new post:

Just got the game, was a cool camp out. Had a sony rep there, let us play a never before seen section of God Of War 3, gave us some god of war posters and t-shirts for free! First time i ever played ps3 actually and i did better than anyone else who gave it a shot! Time to play!

I am disappointed that this is not the second coming of our Lord and Savior that was promised to me.

No, no. Beginning is slow, but I was expecting that. Gameplay's pretty fun, and aside from LEGO fingers the graphics are top-notch.

Fingers are actually the hardest part of a human body to model in games design, I don't think anyone has managed to do completely perfect fingers just yet.

its also one of the hardest parts to draw for an artist, When i went to art school, i could draw anything...but when it came to hands and feet i could never do it right. My art teacher was pretty smart though, my problem was that i was too focused on drawing someone elses hand as i saw it, So she had me hold a ruler in my hand and told me to draw my own hand...and it was so much easier than i ever had it, but i still suck at drawing hands!

anyway, im a few hours in, still on the linear portion of it, Snow is the best character to me so far, but im enjoying the story.
I just hate one thing, and thats the datalog. Why do they have to keep repeating everything you already read over and over again like they think your stupid or something? I have read what the purge was like 100X already and they never seem to change the way its explained so its just rehashed again and again like they are saying "look, you need to fucking know what the purge is, SO WE ARE GONNA MAKE YOU REMEMBER THAT SHIT!!". And so far, i havent noticed an issue with the 360 graphics and the lower resolution, it still looks stunning!

Didn't have to "camp" last night. Got there at 11:45 and the only cars there were for the employees. By the time they opened, it was myself and 3 other people (and I work at the place! LOL). So, not counting 1 employee, that was just three people. As I was leaving, the manager said I'm closing up if no one else shows up. They had everything laid out nicely, extra accessories and so on. I picked up the hard cover strategy guide along with the game.

Playing it now. At a save station as I type this.

Now back to playing.

I'm on a horse.

Just started the game. Its so gorgeous. So excited right now!!!

Waiting for my cousin to come over to start playing but he's taking his sweet time. :/

I am loving this so far. As I thought Hope is my favourite character, not a huge Lightning fan but I don't mind her.

The linerness isn't really bothering me at all (huge FFX fan) and I kinda like knowing where to go pretty much all the time. I love the combat system as well with the shifting in and out. It gives it a really fast paced feeling which is nice from a FF game.

Final Fantasy XIII is less than three hours away from it's release here in the US (LOL, West Coast), and with it will come a chance to beta test the next entry in the venerable series.

Registering your copy of FFXIII at the SQEX Members Site gives you a chance to be part of the Final Fantasy XIV PS3 Beta. That same code can also be used to acquire an exclusive in-game item once the MMO launches later this year.

However, entering the PS3 Beta Draw will automatically remove you from the PC Beta Draw if you entered it earlier in the year. The in-game item will be yours regardless of your choice.

Score.
