Final Fantasy 13 Hype Thread?

yes, you don't actually unlock the full Crystarium until you beat the "final" boss

I didn't mean to make it sound like that, I was talking in response to that particular spot.
You can't go back there, even after beating the game and unlocking the final crystarium level, so no post game leveling there.

I did mention others spots people do use for post game.

Yeah what george said, you unlock that final level and you can come back to fight the boss again to 5 star him once your way stronger. I believe its an achievement too.
 
Just beat Barthendelus.. that dude was freaking cheap! It took me a few tries (which = like an hour with how long that freaking fight took) and the thing that tipped the scale in my favor was putting on accessories that gave me +hp. Who woulda thunk it >.>

I used str+ and mag+ accessories for literally the whole game. Now I use things like auto-haste, auto-prot/shell/veil/vig, auto-brave/faith post game.

Not true. If you max out a tier 2 weapon and then break it down, you get 3 items out of it. So no need to farm aspids for it. Or was it max out a tier 3 weapon, break it down and you get 3 out of it? I'll have to look that up when I get home from work.
 
Wasn't it you need to dismantle a final upgrade to get 3 Traps? I remember reading the Math on BG and it does not take 2m to get to lvl 61 for tier 2s.
 
Only 2 specific final weapons give 3 traps. Everything else gives 1.

I just fought Cid XD man he was a bitch with what I was trying so I switched out Snow for Fang and pwnd him easily. Saboteur is nice :P

Specifically, Kain's Lance * gives 3 trapezohedrons only if it's made from Dragoon Lance, Shamanic Spear, Punisher, Pandoran Spear or Gae Bolg.
Nirvana * gives 3 trapezohedrons only if it's made from Tigerclaw, Healer's Staf, Belladonna Wand or Mistilteinn.
If you use other weapons to make those ultimate weapons it'll only yield 2 trapezohedrons.

But getting 3 trapezohedrons for the price of 1 is pretty sweet.
 
I don't understand why people would upgrade a weapon and dismantle for trapez's when they drop pretty often from adamans. Ive killed maybe 10 of them and got 4 traps so far. And I wasn't saying it was the only way to obtain them, I just think its the easiest way imo.

Also I have a question, if I upgrade a weapon to ultimate. Then later decide it's not the best option, can I dismantle it and form a new ultimate weapon?
 
Man I'm all the way up to the boss at the top of Taijen's Tower and I still haven't upgraded a single piece of equipment. Not because I don't know how, I just don't want to use all my components on an item and find that I don't like the result (as I would have if I had taken Fang's default to Kain's, instead of that other one which has lesser stats to start, but higher stats once fully maxed at Kain's). Is there a place I can farm components that grant copious amounts of exp so that I don't need to worry about this sort of thing? It would be nice to be able to upgrade some of my stuff, it would make life much easier.

Also, said boss is a total a-hole, I think I'm gonna have to go back into the tower and kill that group of pulsegladiators over and over for their 8k CP so I can raise my stats D:

Well, people do it so they don't need to farm as many, buy 1, make Kain's Lance with the aforementioned weapons, get 3 back from dismantling.
But you could do that, though you could have all 8 variations of the Omega Weapon * if you want it, I plan on making each variation of the ultimate weapon for each character, so I need 48 traps for that.
Though Axis Blade is personally my favorite for Lightning, so that'll be my main Omega Weapon.
 
Oh you can do it for all weapons? I thought it was only one.

And shome you don't need to worry at all, you can buy an item that gives 120,000 exp to a weapon (with 3x bonus) right from the shop. So all you gotta do is farm gil.
 
Yeah, they'll all be called Omega Weapon, Nirvana, etc, but the stats and special properties will vary depending on your initial weapon.

Anyways, at Taejin's Tower now, did the first 3 required missions, now on the next floor.
Trying to 5 star them all as I go, but if I don't I'll do it later.
Figured I'd get to the end boss of Chapter 11 to unlock crystarium stage 9, then not initiate the next cut-scene, and just go back so I can Death Adamantoise's for farming and do more missions.

I prefer her lionheart/ultima weapon. Quick stagger is awesome. plus it's in the hidden synthesis group that gives "Random: Stagger" which procs alot more often then I thought it would.
