Final Fantasy IV DS Official Thread:

If the shield prevents Death, I'll probably go for that. I'm kinda iffy on the other stuff though, may just leave that until I'm grinding to 99 on my 3rd file.

I just got Cecil his Paladin. I am so far behind compared to you guys lol

Gah amazon shipping is taking forever. It left Cincinnati 8 days ago and hasn't been scanned in anywhere. I can drive to Cincinnati in ~2 hours. >< I should have just bought it in the store and paid some taxes.

Don't feel bad. I'm only just now infiltrating Castle Baron and trying to beat the big blue turtle.

I didn't like that turtle. That was the fight that lead up to the loss of the twins <_< Twincast is just so godly. I miss it lol

I'm currently lvling to 30 before I go fight the dark elf. I had too much trouble with the turtle.

I'd recommend sword(s) too, at like 70 they're better than other options.
I just want to get onion gear over with, I'll be farming other stuff my 3rd file. (first file I'll probably be 99 by the time I'm done farming too)

Just got Fusoya, time to beat Leviathan.....gah Tidal wave >.<

So what's the deal with that bullshit magnetic field thing?

It's how it was in past versions too, equip non metallic armor/weapons, like Gaia gear, ruby rings, wizard's hats, kenpo gi, headband, feathered cap, sages surplices, elemental claws for Yang, wooden hammer for Cid, flame rod for Tellah, grab one of the shard weapons in Troia for Cecil, since there's nothing else he can use, and no bows for him in this version. (onion sword works in new game plus)

I haven't looked it up, but do your levels carry over into a New Game+ file?

Crystal Shield prevents Death too for Cecil at least. Onion's the only one for Kain that does. The only useful Onion stuff is the shield for both and swords for both (only when attacking, if you plan to jump leave a spear on). The Ribbon surpasses for headgear, adamant armor for body, and pretty much anything for gloves. The only thing the armor could be useful for is for Rydia if you give her Limit Break because it seems like armor-given stats will actually push your stats past 99 so you can load up on int. I haven't tested this myself though but it seems true.

You have to talk to edward first (Important). He is in Troia Castle. Then in the cave you cant use any metal gear (cecil is practically useless). You have to do the most of the dungeon like this. Good luck.

Yeah, I got the weed thingy. I'm still trying to lvl some before I go into the cave. And what's the deal with the king of Baron telling Cecil to come back after doing something? I accidentally skipped over the text and didn't catch it all.

Spoiler:
After getting Rydia back and beating Leviathan in the Feymarch, he's Odin and beat him to get his summon, also remember to steal Darkness augment from him

Thanks. I spent a good hour revisiting all the caves/cities/castles trying to find the city that was mentioned <_< lol

Got my yellow tail finally, now farming the one black in Lair of the Father before I start on the 5 pink and 2 red I need in the Lunar Subterrane, then I'll be farming the 4 summons and finally beating it. Though least I'm getting the onion/adamant armor farming out of the way first time through, second time will have no farming at all, and third will just be rare equipment and soma drops/apples.

I just killed that turtle thing...what a bitch.

I highly recommend trying to kill Zeromus before you hit 99 and have all your tail gear on. The fight's no fun at that point but when you approach it at a lower level in regular gear, it's really epic.

I enjoy being overlvled in all rpgs I play, generally been 99 with the ultimate equipment in all previous FFs(or maxed sphere grid/etc) before I beat for the first time, I enjoy it more that way.
FFIII DS I was 99 with all jobs mastered and max HP before I beat Cloud of Darkness, hell I beat Iron Giant before I beat the end boss lol.
