'Final Fantasy should come to Xbox 360', says Sakaguchi

Both polls are complete failures, because they're internet polls. Something anyone can join in. Yes, Fire. Your poll had nothing restricting unnecessary votes, such as spiteful Playstation fandom. Something people can easily ignore as well. The only way to figure out a result close to the truth is to just go to several stores. Find people browsing the 360 titles and ask them. Put them on the spot.

You needed a gamertag to vote in the poll, if it didn't have any validation I wouldn't have bothered mentioning it.

No, his poll required an Xbox gamertag to vote in, thus the voters owned an Xbox

And that prevents people who would be more favorable to the Playstation 3 for voting negatively how? All they'd need is to own an Xbox 360.

But i thought the PS3 ownerbase was so small that they dont count? You're saying that people who owned a PS3 would lie and say thier 360 was broken when it was not? It wasnt "what do you prefer" it was "Has your 360 had the Red Light of Doom"

Would seem kind of odd to be biased enough to be willing to fudge numbers but open minded enough to buy the system. I'm sure there are some people out there like that... but I doubt there'd be enough of them to make a difference on the poll.

It doesn't need to be someone who owns a Playstation 3, but rather someone who favors Sony and wants to fraudulantly put the 360 in a negative light.

As well, it doesn't reflect those without gamertags. People with a 360 and not Xbox live? Shock and awe, I know. But they do exist.

If it was a simultaneous launch, yeah. But the 360 was out a year before the PS3. I'm sure theres a good chunk of people who bought it to tide themselves over.

I mean, people who have had more than 10 360s break on them? You've gotta be shitting me.

Sure and people without gamertags probably play less by a huge amount making a system less likely, just like people who visit that website will be people who play less. And as Tag said, people with no problems may be less likely to fill in the poll... but do you really think it changes a 60% failure rate to a 4% failure rate? On top of that, if you were a 360 owner(or are), would you be one of those people without gamertags who don't visit xbox websites or would you be one of the people who could potentially stumble across the poll?

I mean... if you weren't trying to win this argument against me would you really say this poll doesn't point towards the failure rate being higher than MS's statements?

Theres also the cause of which they became defective. People who have broken theirs from dropping, kicking, frying them because of power surges, etc.. Those are all counted in to that poll. It's no where near an accurate depiction of factory sealed defectives/normal wear and tear breaks, the only two types Microsoft is responsible for handling.

I used the "world logic" to show that your poll doesn't really say anything. A poll saying that 90% of the people asked doesn't have any value because there were NO QUALIFERS.

There were no qualifiers. Not even, "Would you ever consider buying a gaming console at all?"

So therefore the poll only says that 90% of the world will not buy a PS3, that still does, logically leave 100s of millions that will, by the poll's design, because it wasn't efficient.

My poll, on the other hand, was of failed Xboxes vs. Xbox owners. If you don't own an Xbox you're disqualified from the poll, so its answers have actual meaning.

Of course I've said this before, and you continue to show your stupidity as a response, which is boring me...
You're making an assumption, just like the question of "are you going to get a PS3" assumes that you're going to actually buy a console. What they wanted to know was of the console you wanted to buy, was it the PS3. But what the hell, let's just assume you have a valid point.

We'll just assume that everyone who voted "No, I don't want one at all," had no intention of buying any console and throw away those votes. I highly doubt that every single one of them had no interest at all; especially since it was on a website whose sole purpose is video games, so people visiting obviously have an interest, but anyways throw them out. Now, you're still left with 62,182 votes which brings the number of people that want a PS3 to 13.77%, still a very low figure. You going to try saying that now 900 million possible PS3's could be sold?

I'm not even taking my own poll seriously, you're the only one who is putting so much stock into an internet poll. I'm saying that they don't produce accurate results, and posted another dumb poll to illustrate that. You're the one who thinks that what 0.00025%(even less actually, I just used 8 million because I thought they had only sold 8 million) of the actual 360 owning population is reflective of everyone; especially when there is already a very heavy bias in the poll.

Answer this: if there really is such a high failure rate, where is all the news coverage of it? Why has no one reported this at all. Even on the big gaming websites, there's nothing, why is that?

How many times do we have to have this discussion? It doesn't matter how many people are in a poll in comparison to the population they represent. It only matters how many people are in the actual poll. That's the point of polls. I've said it over... and over... and over... again, and you... show... you're... dumb... over... and... over... and... over... again...

You think when CNN shows polling of Hillary Clinton's popularity levels, they're saying... "fuck, there are 300 million Americans! We better pole 3 million to get an accurate representation!!!"

As far as I'm concerned, at this point the alarming thing isn't the 60% failure rate, isn't if my poll is bunk or not... it's you, a person who usually portraits the intelligence of a reasonable person, not understanding the basic principles of polling. Tag made a good point, you're focused on how many xbox owners there are.... it doesn't matter, get over it. Read a fucking statistics book.

The problem isn't so much in the sample size but in the quality of the sampling. It's a very poor window of 360 owners, and definitely not indicative of the full population.

However, Fire, if I'm not mistaken, you aren't completely right, as there ARE variations in statistics depending on the population a sample represents. I don't remember specifics because I really didn't care much for statistics, but I do seem to recall that you couldn't absolutely claim that X sized sampling is absolutely indicative of any sized population; error margins are calculated based on the size of the population.

Then again, I could be wrong. I don't really care much, either way it's a flawed poll.

And I've said it over and over and over again, but you don't seem to get it or even acknowledge that you've actually read my point, so I'll bold it for you. THE POLL IS WRONG. You're completely ignoring how what the poll results show is not what's actually happening, that means the poll is worthless.

I understand polling, the whole point behind taking a sample is so that you don't have to poll the entire population; but the smaller the sample you take in comparison to the total population, the more inaccurate it becomes, unless you take steps to ensure it's lack of bias. That's what the Nielson ratings do, they make sure their results are unbiased by painstakingly selecting who they will count in their polling. Your poll, on the other hand, has nothing in the way of preventing bias; it's the video game equivalent of asking people in the bible belt if they watch religious programs or go to church. With a larger sample, bias plays less of a role, and therefore the poll is more accurate.

If the poll was accurate in the slightest, then there would be news reports about it. A product having a huge failure rate is BIG news, especially when it's for a major multi-national corporation like microsoft. There's been nothing, which really hurts that poll's credibility. If you took a poll of 100 people and 75% said the sky was red, that doesn't mean that the sky is automatically red, it means the poll isn't an accurate source of information, just like your 360 poll.

I would say its quite a good sample representation. Its a fourm dedicated to a single console, where ever member there owns the system. Saying "it only represents people who visit message boards" is just like saying "This survay only counts people who respond to telephone solicitation."

60% failure rate? probably not. 40%? Likely. My friends Xbox randomly wont read his GoW disc, which has never left the console in the 5 months he's owned it.

10,805,000 360s sold, i dont see 6,000,000 looting the streest and attacking MS. your poll fails, i never heard of it. my friend list on live never heard of it. maybe if they gave us a poll through xboxlive like the wii does then it could be acurate. 2000 people polled fails hard sorry, we are all too busy enjoying our great games and online play to visit these random poll sites. ; ;

As far as the original topic goes, I think I would feel weird playing a FF on my 360. Just something inside my mind would make it feel off to me. That might sound a little strange, but meh.

As far as the failure rate goes, there is really no way of knowing that, unless every failed 360 went back to Microsoft and those numbers came out. That will never happen, so I guess we can all stop guessing.

Random polling is nice, but its so unreliable. For example, my friends and I have 80% fail rate on our 360s. I have five friends who own 360s, and they have all failed but mine. Two of them the day Gears of War came out, it was awful.

Also,
we are all too busy enjoying our great games and online play to visit these random poll sites.

No offense, but this may be the lamest thing I have ever read.

ive had my xbox 360 since august, its a hitachi 47D model with modifiled gary opa firmware, it still runs great and ive had no problems with it, the only red light i ever saw was my fault because i fell asleep and left it on all night and the hard drive messed up for some reason and i got a bottom right red light, reset the system and it was fine and never had it again.

but i dont plan on getting any problems, i got alot of cooling parts ordered and some cool neon red lights im throwin in it shortly.

Sony Computer Entertainment France president Georges Fornay said:
"The development costs of games have exploded, and it has become more difficult to have exclusives, outside of our own games. But we have for launch day [in France] 30 games, including MotorStorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, and Virtua Fighter 5. Moreover, we are expecting 200 games [for the PS3] by the end of 2007... As far as Final Fantasy XIII goes, I can tell you that the exclusivity is in discussion."

I'm sure they can partially thank themselves for development costs exploding. Cell processors? BluRay? $$$$$

Not really surprised, with almost every other non-first party company jumping ship, SE would have had to consider making it cross-platform. That's not proof that it will be coming for the 360, but with Sakaguchi confirming that the 360 could handle the engine and now with this interview, it's looking more and more likely. The PS3 might just change to becoming a blu-ray DVD player more than a gaming console.

It's a dumb question in the first place to ask a Sony representative if a third party game is a PS3 exclusive or not. It's not their IP, it's SE's IP. Whatever backhand deals are going on, and let's not forget the huge bailout Sony gave after FF: Spirit's Within tanks, I highly doubt any port is coming, especially when SE knows a good chunk of the early PS3 adopters got it because they said it'd be an exclusive in the first place.

The question to really be asking yourself is if FF13 would actually lose money on the PS3, or by then is a price drop likely, White knight story release likely and a whole shitload of people buying the PS3 for FFXIII likely?

What I actually find much more likely than FF13 or MSG4 port, which no one has touched upon, and is much more dangerous to the PS3, is Microsoft buying out Take-Two, and thereby owning Rockstar games.

I find that a real possibility, I find MSG4 and FF13 to be wishful thinking by people who don't want to buy a PS3 but want to play those games.

Yes, because the president of SCEF definitely wouldn't know a damn thing about what's going on within the company. He said it's in talks, not that it's already a done deal; they might stay exclusive, they might go cross-platform, at this point it's too early to tell. The fact that it is in talks means it could go multi-platform, that's all.

And SE had more than paid Sony back for helping out with the movie with all of the FF games on playstations. FF7 practically made the playstation and cemented Sony's position as the top console for two generations, if anything Sony owes SE at this point.
