After leaving the company to bring his RPG duo Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey to Xbox 360, Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi says that Square Enix should bring Final Fantasy to Microsoft's console.

The Mistwalker boss told Gamespot: "I feel that the Final Fantasy series should come to Xbox 360 as well. This is wise. It makes so much sense to me...it has so much potential in North America and in Europe. So there's a great chance for the series to succeed on 360 as well."
Continuing the chat Sakaguchi-san suggested that Square Enix could port its upcoming PS3 instalment Final Fantasy XIII to 360 fairly simply, because "they made the White Engine open platform".

hmm discuss

What happened to the PS3 Fanboys saying the White Engine was too intense for the 360?

Well, seeing as how he isnt involved with Final Fantasy anymore, how's this relavent? He feels they should. Cool. He doesn't work for them anymore.

I think the point was that Firestreak kept saying that the 360 couldn't handle the engine, but he's saying SE designed it to be usable on both consoles. So while he might not be the deciding factor in final fantasy games going multi-console, it is now publicly possible.

So port FFXIII to 360, more JP players buy a 360 for FF, and more buy the Mistwalker titles as well?
Yea.. he can want it to go to wherever, but Sony would really lose a lot if FF went multiplatform, a lot of that has been happening lately, Sony probably has SE picking from their pockets.

No, he doesn't work for SE anymore, BUT, Japanese companies run a little differently from American companies. The man surely still has some clout with his former coworkers.

It is possible for FFXIII to be put on multi-console. I remember reading in a magazine, possibly Game Informer, saying that it's possible that SE may make FF multi-console. Dec or Jan issue I think...

Anyway, I think FFXIII will be on the 360 as well. Solo PS3... Not enough business if there isn't enough consoles sold.

FF on the 360 means everyone will know you:

1- Ended it
2- Killed that mega hard boss
3- Got all characters to lvl 99
4- etc...

Hello Achievements! ^^

if it did go multi-console it would be one more reason in the already very large column of reasons why not to buy a PS3

Likely not among the higherups, seeing as he left in a huff over internal issues.

I thought 360 was getting FFXIII: Versus or something like that...

Nope. The DS is getting the third game, who's name i cant remember. But XIII and Versus are both PS3 exclusives as of current.

I'd be slightly shocked if MGS4 went to Xbox 360 but I'm be, quite frankly, amazed if FFX13 did.

The reason being... they never make multiplatform games... ever. Other than FFXI, which doesn't count for obvious reasons... name one game from when they were just Squaresoft until now that they made a game for multiplatform that wasn't some nostalgia port a generation later or the MMOPRG.

FF7 & FF8 PC. lmao

Well FF8 for PC didn't come out until 2000, at which point PS2 had been launched, making FF8 a nostalgia port by my measurements. I was thinking about the PC ports, and thinking of saying... multi-console instead of multi platform... but damn, those things were hardly worth mentioning. Cause I actually played the windows version of FF7 and god damn it was a terrible port.

Things were way off... like when they mixed CG and regular gameplay, like when cloud went on an elevator, the elevator would move one speed and Cloud would be moving at another speed.

Actually, the CG was synced perfectly, but it assumed your game ran at a perfect frame rate.. and it wasn't a very good port so most systems weren't capable of that at the time unless you had a 3dfx Voodoo 3d card.

Neenjar edit: FF7 PC wasn't a nostalgia port by any means, the delay was less than a year and a half. And actually, the FF8 PC release was only a few months after the PS release.

Don't believe me? Check GameFAQs street date listings.

FF7 PS: 9/3/97 FF7 PC: 5/31/98

FF8 PS: 9/7/99 FF8 PC: 12/31/99

I'm just waiting, it's going to happen... It's called, smart business. Capcom realized it, Rockstar realized it, and it's only a matter of time before others follow suite.

Also consider, he was the brains.

FF8 came out September 9thish 1999(I know it was around Dreamcast's date) on the Playstation, January 2000 on the PC. OH SHIT GUYS 3 MONTHS THATS TOO LATE ITS NOSTALGIA

I guess that makes the PS3 full of Nostalgia titles, huh?
