'Final Fantasy should come to Xbox 360', says Sakaguchi

If we can speak seriously...

PS13 was originally planned for the PS2 while the Xbox 360 had already launched. Square decided to build it for the PS3 instead because they liked the power of the cell processor. If they're worried about not selling enough units I'd say the port would be 99% likely to go to PS2. It's got 11 times the user base of Xbox 360 and it's a brand that they are incredibly successful on. Blue Dragon on the other hand sold 120k units in Japan.

But honestly, I think the chances of a port at all are very low, and to the 360, non-existant.

if it did go multi-console it would be one more reason in the already very large column of reasons why not to buy a PS3

I'm sure that's what a lot of fanboys are hoping for :P

If it did go to 360 I'd have even more reason to buy a 360... so many good games on 360 already and I know of more that are coming but if the 360 got MGS4 and FFXIII and a few other games I wouldn't see a reason for the PS3 for me :P

can't care either way

I wont buy one anytime soon

Nope. The DS is getting the third game, who's name i cant remember. But XIII and Versus are both PS3 exclusives as of current.

I thought FInal Fantasy Agito XIII was gonna be for cell phones? lol

Guys, if you're leaning towards Xbox 360 or Playstation 3... you all have to admit one thing.

The whole thing came from the guy who made Blue Dragon. Blue Dragon bombed horribly in Japan. If Final Fantasy 13 was released on 360, more Japanese would buy a 360. If Japanese were buying a 360 to play Final Fantasy 13, they'd buy Blue Dragon.

It would be to this guy's benefit if there was a port and he's the only guy even talking about it, and he never said he thought it was being planned.

Does that make him less credible when you consider his motivation? Kind of... yeah.

"The guy" is the sole reason Final Fantasy exists, seeing as he's the father of it.

What does that really change? His interests now are tied to Mistwalker and Mistwalker right now is dependant on selling J-RPGs to Xbox 360 owners. So he needs people who want J-RPGs to buy 360s in order for him to make any sales.

I mean seriously... 120,000 sales? How many of those 120,000 sales would they have even gotten on the Xbox if it was for sale on the PS too? Probably none.

The game will be a hit in America and Europe where people actually buy 360's. Don't be an idiot and base the game off the sales unit from a country just now accepting the fact that the 360 *might* be worth having.

Remains to be seen if Blue Dragon would be a hit on Xbox 360, and an even bigger theoretical, are the people who are big J-RPG fans not going to own a PS3 by FF13 time, even if they may own a 360 too?

I bet even with maybe 2 million PS3s owned now, 80% of the people with them are planning on getting FF13, and there are at least 1-2 million people who are planning on getting a PS3, "when FFXIII comes out."

That doesn't mean he won't be consulted for future Final Fantasy games. Uematsu is no longer a Square-Enix employee as well, but they still turn to him for some projects.

Is SE still under that contract with Sony?

Yah, Japanese companies operate differently from NA companies. People that leave companies still have a lot of pull with them.

Yamauchi still has a lot of pull with Nintendo despite having stepped down. It's a good thing he's allowed Iwata to do his thing, though.

Yamauchi stepped down of his own will, and didnt run off to start his own competeing company. Sakaguchi left over internal issues, took some of the best people with him and started a new company to compete with SE. There's a difference.

I can't wait to see the numbers. I don't even think FF13 would help the sales of the PS3. $665 for FF13... Yeah, not going to happen to often. Not even MGS4 will boost it. They are going to need more than those and Heavenly Swords to make everyone who doesn't already have one pick one up. Them loosing exclusives and it being big news, isn't helping them either. What kind of message do you think that sends consumers? Not a good one.

In order to massivly sale a console, you need to show a lot of goods early so the people see a bright future. The PS3 isn't doing that. Like with the wii, we know Metroid, SSBB, Mario Galaxy, the new Paper Mario, No More Heros, etc... A whole slew of awesome titles comming out, just not for a while, so that makes people buy. Because, we know they are comming in given time. The PS3 has limited exclusives and titles as a whole even showing up on list. They need to show more future. Okay, so you have MGS4, FF13, and Heavenly Sword. Two are rumored to port, I don't need your opinion here on whether they will or not as people are sceptical when even the slightest rumors are formed, and the other is a reiteration of all the other hack-n-slashers we see now. Three games... Three games don't sell systems. I didn't include R:FoM because it's already out and has already proven, it didn't have what it takes to sell massive amounts of PS3's. If you want to include it, there are four reasons to buy a PS3, is that really enough for most people?

I forgot Lair, sue me. I'm not adding it to the list and changing anything for a game that'll probably sell as many copies as Eragon.

You forget White Knight Story, Warhawk, Littlebigplanet, Ratchet and Clank. By the end of the year, what can we expect to be announced? Socom, God of War, Suikoden. Then for some reason Grand T sells systems, don't ask me I wasn't planning on buying. Home is no more useful than achievements but it'll probably sell more systems, because even if find out you like achievements after owning a Xbox, before trying it out it seems stupid.

Until the Xbox stops the self destruct bullshit as well... cross-platform seem better to buy on PS3 than 360 to me. It's 200 more but with a fried system, you can't use any of your games. Of course I doubt the general population knows about the 360 fail rates, so really, I guess a cheaper system is easier to sell than a stable one.

I'd like reassurance that it isn't true, but Microsoft outright lies that their fail rates are much lower than they are and polls tend to point that if you bought a Xbox 360 over a year ago, there's a 6 out of 10 chance you're not still playing your first. Until Microsoft stops claiming it's under a 4% fail rate I have nothing else to go on except polls which may not accurate represent the greater population and anecdotal evidence of hearing about a lot of dead 360s.

Mmmm, my reassurance is sitting underneath my T.V. right now playing A Scanner Darkly.

Anecdotal. I had a PS2 since FF10 came out, I played it more than NES, SNES and N64 combined. I played FFXI on it, I left it on, running FFXI for weeks as I'd bazaar when I wasn't playing. It never had a single glitch. Doesn't mean PS2s were overall extremely reliable.

If Microsoft came out from the start and told us a realistic failure rate instead of actually having to increase the warranty in secret, then came out and said, "we've fixed the problem," then I'd be satisfied. Now there's no way to know how many 360's are bugged, if they're better now than at launch or even what warranty to expect.

With a PS3 and 360... I might as well just get the crossplatform on PS3 unless there's a glaring reason not to. I can play online free. I have HDMI connection. If my 360 has to be repaired then I can still play the games.
