'Final Fantasy should come to Xbox 360', says Sakaguchi

Most of the problems with 360s are that people are retarded. There definitely was one major problem with the 360 at launch and that was overheating. Microsoft repositioned stuff and strengthened the fans inside and that has since alleviated that problem. Also, another reason why 360s are failing now is because of the Intercooler redesign by Nyko which destroyed the power source in many systems, and Microsoft has actually said it isn't taking responsibility for Nyko's errors, so that is probably why the failure rate said by Microsoft is lower than the actual amount that have died. Since Nyko isn't license by Microsoft, they won't fix systems in which a Nyko product destroys.

Put the intercooler problems together with user fault, and yeah, you will havea higher fail rate. A lot of people play their 360s vertically, which is probably the worst thing you can do. The laser is so close to the disc, and the base isn't very sturdy. One tiny move of the system, and goodbye game and hello laser problems.

As far as Sakaguchi saying Microsoft should get Final Fantasy, he can say whatever he want. Yes, he created the series, and yes companies in Japan run a bit different, and yes, the White Engine will work fine on a 360, but truth of the matter is that he left in a big huff and took some of the better designers with him. Squeenix isn't going to bow down to him and do as he says just because he said it. I put more value into Squeenix when they said they don't want PS3 to fail, so they will give it games, but they don't want PS3 to be dominant, so it won't keep giving it as many exclusives.

We'll just have to wait and see. I would love it to come to 360, but I don't think 13 will make it.

From what I understand Dead Rising caused failures and now GRAW 2 causes failures. This leads me to believe(perhaps erroneously) that there is some deeper problem with the machines which either causes it to get totally screwed up or run without a problem depending on some potential hardware defect when it tries to run certain software.

This, as a consumer, scares the shit out of me, since it's so early in the console's life and some of the software kills it. Trying to judge the whole affair from an unbiased perspective, even though I dislike MS as a company, and judge the equipment on its own merit. I don't mind paying more for a more reliable machine, maybe I should just get the 360 and some badass extended warrantly plan that'll cover me for the console's shelf life.

Assuming getting a console replaced wouldn't mean I have to buy any arcade games again?

Nope, you wouldn't have to buy the arcade games over again. They are tied to your XBox Live account, so when you recover your gamer account, it will allow you to redownload anything you have already paid for at no additional cost.

I personally always go with the store warranty myself. This allows you to go to the store and switch it out for a brand new one in the box. The transaction is instant and you can go home and play. With the manufacturer's warranty, you lose your system for weeks and usually don't even get your system back. I have several friends that send their PS2 in for repairs only to get a different one back, and a couple were even sent systems that were still broke. Right now, I believe the 360 warranty for GameStop is $40, and it basically takes all hassle away.

As far as Dead Rising locking up systems, I believe the initial shipment of games were defective, but has since been corrected. I was still working at GameStop at the time and remember this happening. I have no idea about GRAW2 though. Mine works fine, but from the errors people are saying they are getting on the Xbox forums, it seems to be another group of defective games, since many of the errors wouldn't be attributed to a system malfunction. People are complaining about lockups at the same exact spot, so the chance of that being a system is slim.

I never heard about the systems actually failing. That I will have to look into lol I guess I lucked out and happened to get a perfectly fine launch system. I have always had that luck, still running my launch PS2 lol

I have had one defective game destroy a system, but that was because the disc itself was poorly made and ended up shattering in my system. That's a whole different story...

Alright, I found out how Sony managed to keep MGS4 an exclusive.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid_(film)

Look who's going to produce this piece of shit, lol. Microsoft can throw money at them but they couldn't have pulled this off.

Oh yeah, that reminds me, wasn't Sakaguchi the tool that used Square's money to finance the biggest box office bomb that ever happened?

Just because Sony is making the MGS movie dosn't mean they own the rights to MGS. Still MGS4 might not be an exclusive for the PS3.

Didn't say they have the rights to MSG. Just saying they're producing this movie and Hideo Kojima is directing it. I highly doubt strings weren't attached.

On top of this, still find it far more likely MSG gets a port than FF13, which is not likely by any stretch.

Lany Lany Lany :P that's the thing about MOST problems with MOST systems. Most systems are fine if you don't treat them like shit.. or even if you don't treat them poorly but don't upkeep them well enough (realize these are sensative electronics) problems will arise. The only time any of my systems ever had problems were when I dropped them from moving around my room's order or when moving from house to house (or dorm to dorm). Otherwise there are no problems. (and that's only if I dropped them.. which was rare.. I've dropped my PS2 once, had to get fixed, got fixed for free.. dropped my N64, PS1 once. And that's about it).

Elemmire, you are so smart.

Most problems I see with anything is user error. Sure, lemons get produced. I'd say though, that a majority of broken systems and things like that are attributed to stupid people not paying attention.

For example, I work for a cell phone company. Recently, we started to sell a low-end Nokia CDMA flip phone. The manual SPECIFICALLY states that not to use your thumb to flip it. You should flip it up with your entire hand, as to not cause the flipping joint stress.

Yeah, I see about 5-6 people a week coming in with broken joints. An easy fix, but one that could've been avoided if they handle the phone properly. Don't get me started on people who get their phones wet and think we should replace them.

I play my XBOX360 vertically, and I play Dead Rising on it. The thing I've learned to do is limit play time. Any system is going to get little bugs in it if you're playing it constantly. I learned that with my PS2. My power cord is actually melted into the system. The system still runs decently, but the freaking power cord will not come out for anything. Probably all those 6-hour marathon FFX runs. D:

Exactly... most of the problems people bitch about with the PS2 and even Microsoft, from what I've seen, have all been user errors. They were being about as retarded as this kid's friend (the kid was in my old dorm at college) who put magnets on the side of his computer tower and then wondering why he kept getting corrupted data errors and whatnot. So many problems I've read were mostly because people didn't keep their systems in a good place (i.e. off the floor for one) and didn't clean the dust off of their system or from inside (as best they can). I constantly keep my systems and computer clean from dust >.> I agree there are most certainly problems that are not the user's fault but you can not disagree that there are MANY people out there who bitch about a problem that THEY ARE THE CAUSE OF. Even ones around here that bitch about the PS2 having disc read error tended to be from dust in the system. Dust = bad for electronics (and that's only one example). I'm not, in anyway, denying that a manufacturer will produce something with errors.. I'm just stating that, when it comes to these systems and any electronics.. most of the problems come from USER ERRORS. If you've never worked or known anyone who worked for tech support than maybe you should ask them how many calls they get about things that are user errors.. :\ the more people that come to take responsibility for their own systems the better this world would be >.> bah..

(I'm assuming you are being serious >.> sometimes I really can't tell when you people are sarcastic or being real about it)

Edit: I'm a little sad that I was doubting your seriousness directly on your first sentence.. >.> I wonder if I have self esteem issues x.x XD

Haha! I was being serious. I'm only sarcastic with the retards, and that's usually limited to the FB.

I really need to dust out my PS2. D:

I guess that's a good point, if the Xbox 360 owners kept it in the box, sealed and protected by Chuck Norris then none of them would spontaneously stop running.

I think you missed the point of our posts. That's ok though, I understand some people are dense (and/or complete sony fanboys). Let me reiterate:

Firstly, Ele and I were talking about user problems. Like the magnets example she gave, or leaving the system on carpet - that's smart. That's sure to break your system, and that's user error.

Secondly, maintaining a system is just like maintaining any other electronic equipment. You have to take care of it in order to get the longest life-span possible. We recognized that there, sometimes, are lemons. It happens. I had a lemon of a PS2, dang thing lasted two weeks before the laser-eye went nuts. Stopped reading anything.

Thirdly, we recognized that all systems can have problems like this, up to and including a PS3. Failure can happen on any electronic, big or small from cell phones to rollercoaster’s.

So, whatever argument you're trying to pull up against the 360 can be counter-argued with examples from PS2 or PS1 (I have to have mine upside down or else it won't play any games). Not to say that any argument against the PS2 or PS1 can't be counter-argued with an example of the 360 either. Whoops, I guess we're in a stalemate friend. Better wave the white flag.

Which is an extremely common problem, by the way.

It's not a question of if a system CAN potentially have a problem, it's a question of what percentage of the systems fail at way too short of a time frame.

Of course people are retarded. Of course there are retarded PS3 owners and retarded Wii owners too, but they aren't somehow breaking 6/10 of their systems.

Source?

His source is from a poll of less than 1% of the people who actually own a 360.
