I'm sure Phil Harrison knows what's up.
Go back and note the "To you" in the sentence. I know they know what is up, you said they wouldn't.
It's relevant because you're basing a likely port based on that comment... and as a general rule I don't see Sony running around declaring anything exclusive, even their first and second party games that are obviously going nowhere. I don't see Nintendo doing that shit either.
Top right hand corner of the box: http://cgi.ebay.com/N64-Mario-Party...ryZ27193QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting Nintendo does it a lot.
You're right here though, but I have no idea what it matters to our topic, Sony usually doesn't mark their box. However, on the Xbox side, how many times have they turned around and let he game get cross-platform on them? Keep in mind, porting to the PC after a long while is most definatly different.
How many copies do you think they need to sell to make profit? How many of the PS3 owners now do you think aren't looking to buy ff13?
Here is the problem though, based on the amount of PS3's in peoples homes, Sony isn't even making a profit so how in the world are we to expect game developers to make a profit? That's actually one of the main concerns of developers when thinking of going PS3. Now, granted sony does pay SE the exclusive fees, where does that put Sony if the game fails to sell enough systems? It puts them deeper in the whole than they already are and quite possibly lower than the PSP can bring them up, again. Sony is also in a delimma here. If they fail here, it could be the end of their consoles or a long rode to picking up the pieces for the next try.
Something else to consider about PS3 sales with MGS4 and FF13 and it's a really big deal, imo, is being able to rent the systems from places. There is a little rental store accross the road here that rents out PS3's for $10 bucks a day. You need a credit card that $600 can be automatically retained out of but that's easy to get. Blockbuster, Hollywood video, and Movie Gallery, all do this as well. So you really don't need to go out and purchase the system to enjoy the limited, huge exclusives. This will most definatly hurt Sony until they get some more going in their pot.
