'Final Fantasy should come to Xbox 360', says Sakaguchi

I was reading something a while back, maybe a month ago. Sony CEO said they don't plan on droping ps3 price for a long time. He compared it to ipod pricing. It has been like... 3 years since I got a nano for $200 and the thing has only droped $50 lol. I would say ps3 is staying $500 and $600 for 2 more years +. If not it would be great for later supporters.

I'm prety sure marketing would pressure them to do it if it was feasable. Analyst predictions are saying a price cut in october, due to the fact that production costs are dropping, and because Blu-Ray has all but won the HD war, which will lead to a Price drop on that technology as well.

There will be a price drop right before GTA4 because that's a title that'll get a lot of PS2 users to jump to next gen.

This would help the PS3 had Sony sealed the deal with the exclusive. I doubt GTA4 sells a lot of them, if any. If anyone wants to go next gen specifically for this game, they'll go 360. A: It's cheaper and B: Crackdown. Plus, if they do actually lower the price, which now would be crazy considering their losses, it wont be by much enough to make people stop, drop a duece at it, and go pick one up.

How is Crackdown relevant? Anyone who is a GTA fan, is a Crackdown fan. Anyone who says they are not, haven't played Crackdown but open their mouth anyway. It's the same game, roles reversed.

The issue becomes people upgrading from PS2 to PS3. These people have had tons of chances to buy a 360 before and havent, so one can assume that it isnt showing them anything they need. They already own a sony console, so are MORE likely to buy another, because they trust them.
It isnt the "move to HD" its "Move to the next sony console" that they want. And GTA4 can do that with a price drop.

Honestly, you'd have to be a lunatic to think that a lot of satisfied PS2 owners aren't going to just buy a PS3 when GTA4 comes out. You can try to make your case as to why they shouldn't, and of course we can bicker over that for a while, but it's damn stupid to think every PS2 owner is going to pick Xbox 360. It's not like 90% of the gaming population even knows what's going on anyway.

Well, there IS the $200 price difference between getting GTA4 on PS3 vs. on 360. If you don't think that'll make people think twice, YOU'RE a lunatic.

100$ difference by the time GTA4 is out, and by then 360 will have that super massive expensive HD version.

AND since this is PS2 owners we're talking about, the ability to sell thier PS2 is also a factor that mitigates the cost. If these same users buy a 360, they wont have that ability.

The problem with this is all the assumption placed into it. We don't know what these people are waiting on. If they are like my roomate, they aren't ever going to upgrade again because they found better things to spend their time and money on. However, I can garantee this, if you want to say GTA4 will bring GTA fans to the PS3, as in, the PS2ers onry crowd that are "Waiting", for what exactly I have no idea the PS3 is readily out there, Crackdown, being EXCLUSIVE, would have already brought them over to the 360. Does the PS3 have an exclusive GTA style game to bring them? Why buy for one when they can buy for two and one being an exclusive?

In short, why buy the console with one GTA when the other has two? that's what I'm gettin' at. It's stupid.

Also remember, the 360 is getting a price drop as well though, I do not know the time period. It's around the corner though. Then, they'll have the core system, normal HD, and uber HD (which a price is not known yet?). The core and normal recieve the drop, obviously. However, I'm seriously doubting the PS3 price drop until they can actually sell the ones they loss money on first. What are they going to do, cut their losses? When it's millions, you can't just simply do that. Then again, I could be wrong. Sony isn't exactly known for their business sense.

I'm not stupid enough to even begin to think every PS2 owner is even, in the slightest, thinkin' of buying a 360. Where you came up with that, like most stuff, we'll never know but, eh. Now, what makes you think that just because a person is satisfied with a PS2 that when GTA4 comes out, it'll move them to the PS3? GTA is not senonamous to the PS2. Maybe those people saw Crackdown, had a jizz fit, and got a 360 to serve as a waiting play until October. Maybe those people can't afford to buy a new console. Maybe those people are simply out of the market. Who knows? Not me and most definatly not you. What we can do is go off common sense. Like I said to MAra, why buy for one when you can buy for two? The truely hardcore GTA fans already have or are workin' on finding a means to get Crackdown. Had Sony snagged the exclusive, probably be another ball game. But they didn't and it isn't.

Now, speaking of lunatics, I'm curious as to how you figure 90% of the gaming community is ignorant of knowledge on the PS3 in its current state. Hell, I think the only game my Pops ever played was Pong and he knows Sony is dipping their toes in doodoo creek with it, for the moment. Another thing I'm not sure of, when you said that, are you saying 90% of the gaming community will buy the PS3 because they "don't know", a.k.a. stupid? Hoping stupidity sells consoles, may not be what you meant but I laffed anyway :D

First off, just because someone likes Grand Theft Auto, doesn't mean they give a shit about, or ever heard about Crackdown. Second off, not everyone wants to play Crackdown... just like not everyone wants to play Godfather, Payback, The Getaway, Mafia, The Simpsons Hit and Run(more interesting to me than Halo 3 beta... errr I mean Crackdown), True Crime, 50 cent, or Saints row.

The only GTA clone that interests me even in the slightest is Saints Row, and that's coming to PS3.

Second off, quit arguing against your own fucked up, retarded logic.

I'll bring you to exhibit A:

"I doubt GTA4 sells a lot of them, if any. If anyone wants to go next gen specifically for this game, they'll go 360."

This is you saying that everyone buying a next gen console to play GTA4 is going to buy a Xbox 360...

>>>NEWS FLASH<<<

GTAs are topselling video games on... THE PLAYSTATION BRAND. That doesn't mean everyone is automatically going to buy a PS3, it means SOME PEOPLE WILL... meaning... all... those... people... who... don't... spend... their... life... arguing... on... message... boards... who... don't... care... about... market... share... exclusives... foreign... launches...

A lot of people are going to just buy the PS3 and GTA4. A lot of people are going to buy Xbox 360 and GTA4 too. In the US, GTA is bigger than anything...

Seriously... Crackdown hasn't even outsold the Simpsons Hit and Run and you're calling it the successor equal to grand theft auto.

Fucking hilarious... lol.

Most people just play games and most people don't play that many games. In fact most people would get along fine just playing multiplatform games with no complaints as long as they got the 1 or 2 games they genuinely had fun playing. The fact is 100s of millions of people had a excellent gaming experience with PS1 and then PS2 and the original Xbox was pretty much a joke. If you don't think that translates into some people waiting for a price drop to buy, you're smoking some good weed and you should hook me up(serious, I need a hook-up).

By the way, don't confuse ignorance and stupidity. All of us have probably spent enough time arguing about which console is best to convert that time into hours working and just buy all the consoles. Who is stupid... me and you for having this pointless argument or the average customer who doesn't give a shit.

As for informed customers.. I'd go into the reasons they might pick a PS3... but we've already been arguing that for the last... forever, so there's no reason to say all that shit again.

actually most of my friends who only own a ps2 have heard of crackdown and want to play it badlly because they are GTA fans. Crackdown is fucking awesome, and that halo 3 beta ticket only made the pot sweeter. good plan to put that in there because more people might have passed over that game and missed out on a fucking amazing gem, that made sure people bought it and realized what they woulda missed. Granted MOST people got into the beta WITHOUT buying crackdown, the general majority has done so without crackdown.
So crackdown really wasnt the beta driving force people expected it to be.
Granted the story is short, theres so much more fun to be had than the story and i cannot wait for the idea of a more fleshed out crackdown 2 story.

The 360 owners I know were pretty negative about Crackdown, but then again they were negative about Resistance too when they tried it.

Either way... it's WAY jumping the gun to declare crackdown the fucking GTA successor... GTA = most successful software sales in US history. On top of that, most people see Saints Row as the best GTA clone out there.

lmao @ saints row, i dont know anyone who didnt get bored with that. I didnt say crackdown was a successor in the least, i highly doubt that it would be, But crackdown was very fun and the people who complained didnt give it a chance, most complaints i saw were "Its too cartoony" which is hilarious since it really isnt, just cause its celshaded doesnt make it cartoony and it wasnt in the least, the cel shading made it awesome looking.
i havent really met anyone who was negative on it, online i see only complaints from people who really didnt play it much.
and saints row compared to crackdown just looks awful and is super slow, I tried playing saints row after crackdown and i just cant.

cant wait for gta tho so i can rack up some more achievements, im bored now that ive completed just about every game, until shivering isles tomorrow.

lol Crackdown was decent and all, but no one bought it to play Crackdown. They bought it because it was Halo 3 Multiplayer Demo with a game included lol

hay marajade, r u tarded, cuz liek sp3 izn't teh onry console tat wil priec dorp, kay?

PS3 will drop $100 by then (if you think it'll drop $200, you're probably high on something), and you know what? 360 will too, lol. And the uber-zomg-HD (aka the version with HDMI, cause the current 360 supports 1080p already) will be either the same price as the premium kit now, or slightly cheaper (or bundled with a game or some such incentive).

360 is already at or near break-even price while PS3 is currently $200 more expensive, comes with no accessories, and is losing money (by now probably around $150 per unit - educated guess, keep in mind)... and 360 is still at its original price more than a year later.

So yeah. $200 price difference between getting GTA4 + 360 vs. GTA4 + PS3. Even more if you count the completely lack of need to buy any accessories with the 360, while you have to buy a bare minimum of an HD cable with the PS3 - and for the average consumer that's another $50 minimum (assuming retail prices, since we're talking about the average dolt who doesn't know about cheap online cables).

i did cuz i got in the beta without signing up, connections ^^

honestly the only people who bought it for halo 3 were the ones who didnt get in the two other ways, which were not many. most decided to get the game regardless of the beta pass when the demo came out, the beta was just a sweetner once we saw the game wasnt trash as expected

I actually bought crackdown for crackdown. I have never touched Halo. Never really been into FPS games until I picked up Rainbow 6 Vegas. Crackdown was fun for the first 2 hours then it just got to be the same thing over and over again.

once we saw the game wasnt trash as expected

But ... it was. It was nothing original. It was like playing the Matrix with little crack bubbles you had to collect to jump higher. Aiming was way to easy, and you should not be able to shoot a guy half a mile away with a pistol, even if you are genetically enhanced. Most of the skills were useless once you got a grenade launcher. The driving skill was useless the whole time. And for a free-roaming game, there sure was a lack of freedom.

That and the fact that if you wanted to go on a rampage and kill citizens for fun, the Peacekeepers sucked and never got harder, even if you ran over shit for 10 minutes straight.

EDIT: Also, the point of even having cars in the game was pointless. Why drive a car when I could hop from rooftop to rooftop? No reason for that or the stupid races to even be in the game.

I feel like Xbox 360 elite or whatever it is, coming out at $480, is a dumb idea on Microsoft's part. For one thing.. it shows that the premium isn't going down in price any time soon. Another, nearing the PS3's 500 dollar model it actually shows the value of PS3... because you're at 480 without any hardware features PS3 doesn't have... 20 more bucks and you've got a blu-ray player.

Hell the 100 dollar xbox harddrive and 100 dollar wireless internet attachment... 200 dollar hd dvd add on... when you start packaging them in you really justify your competitor's price to your own customers.

Fire, why'd you list the hard drive? The $400 (and higher, if applicable) 360 model includes one.

And the HD-DVD addon does nothing at all for playing games, just like the blu-ray player.

Edit: Also, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure nothing's actually concrete about the "HDMI 360" yet. I haven't seen any announcements yet and I can't find anything conclusive.
