Final Fantasy XIV Forum

I think we should open a Final Fantasy XIV part of the forums. WoW have one, and I'm thinking we should open one for FFXIV where we can gather all future announcements, as well as a way to keep all FFXIV related discussions in a single place, as to not flood the other parts of the forum (specifically, the gaming forums) with FFXIV related discussions.

Yeh I don't think it would be that hard to change FFXI Discussion to SE MMO discussion or something of the sort. Then put a General FFXIV section in.

Maybe once there are more details, but as for right now there could be a single thread or something. There's not alot of stuff to talk about right now aside from speculation, so a whole separate board for it seems a little much right now.

Yeh I see your point, maybe if we can have just one thread that would solve the issue for now. But at a later point I could see the site wanting to expand.

Wow. I remember when we had the FFXII forum up for awhile. The admins/mods(I don't remember who it was) at the time said we would have a new subforum every time a new FF game out. ... I'm surprised you want to skip completely over XIII.

I mean, XIII won't even be out for who knows how long. Wouldn't you rather focus on that one first? When it comes out, there will be a new subforum for it. Then when XIV comes out, there will be a new subforum for it. But I highly doubt we'll get one before then.

The game isn't coming out for at least another 8 months, and that's being pretty generous. I think we'll burn this FFXIV bridge when we come to it.

Until then the multiple threads that have been flying all over several different forums should be enough. It would be nice if people could just stick to the one in General Gaming, though.

That is, unless someone can give me a really compelling argument to sway my thinking.

This is a good idea. This will up its importance and make it stand out more. A good middle man between a regular thread and its own forum.

When FFXIV does come out, I say we get it's own forum, but only then.

I don't think a forum would be a good idea right now. All we've got to go off of is a minute-long trailer. A forum for FFXIV would just be full of speculation, which a thread should be enough to contain for now.
Once we start getting more information to discuss, then a separate forum would be good. But right now, the forum will consist of:
-First thread!
-Will you move with the rest of quetz?
-What do you want to see in the game?
-Is this the end of FFXI?
-What do you think the races will be named?

I agree with all this. There's getting a leg up on the competition, and there's becoming any number of speculation websites like those for [x popular summer blockbuster].

At this point, we don't know much. I think its pretty clear we will be creating a section of the forum dedicated to FFXIV, but when is it really appropriate? I don't know that we have enough information about the game yet to merit its own forum.

I am, however, fine with us creating a placeholder forum and moving that thread there since we will be dedicating a section to FFXIV in the long run. But it would be nice if it had more content than just the one thread. =/

If it carries the same rules and moderation as the current forum I don't think this will ever be possible.

We have more information then that one trailer There's several interviews as well with a lot of information that I've posted in the thread. However, reading through the entire thread to find them can be hard. That's why I suggested a separate forum so that we can easily find, post and discuss new information easier.
