True, however i could see how some people might be a bit reluctant to start over when theyve played the game for 5 years lol. I personally have no idea how anyone could play the same game for more than a year but w/e.
 
MMOs tend to evolve over time, though.
I would hardly call the FFXI of now the "same game" that I first got into three oh wait, it's four years ago now.
 
Some of us would like to forget about this, and start fresh & new.

I still have mixed feelings about 14 however, I will purchase it. I don't know what will happen to my Hume here since he is the only character I have left after almost 6 years.

At the same time, I'm sure almost all of us may admit, XI is getting tedious and old. Something new, including worlds, looks, graphics, missions, quests, game play style... etc, to me, is very exciting. Especially when it carries the FF name, something we all feel at home with.

I wouldn't unless it was Uzor posting. He seems to be down on the info.
 
One draw back to starting fresh and new:

Asshole players will be under a new name and I won't know who to play with and who not to play with! I'll have to find out all over again. :(

Oh well I can't wait for FF14 to come out!! :drooling:

Well, the rumor started with a French media source claiming it:

Whether or not it is true waits to be seen. French gaming magazines also have a chapter on FFXIV crafting in their next episode, so it is possible they got it confused with a playable version where the focus is on the "Hand" classes.

Either way, if it is true, beta sign ups will probably start for the rest of the world at the same date, or slightly after, in which likely means beta testing starts in December.
 
I'll be checking back here October 30th first thing in the morning to see it.

then you will have no qualms about going to 14...kinda like me =)
 
I've never gotten into a beta before or even attempted to. Think all of us can get in if we act fast enough?
 
I think most players that want to beta test it will get in eventually, just not from the start.

And something tells me FFXI players will get to try it out first.
 
The only beta i've been in was Syphon Filter 2 for PS2 and I had to put my NY address to get in... I hope this beta is international, if not i'll be a sad man. ; ;
 
This is my 3rd to 4th time checking in today. Is that weird? I think it's the excitement of a video game again.

I need to hear this weekends coverage!
