Final Fantasy XIV

Is that steam coming out of its head? Choo-choo puppet.

In one of the interviews/videos it's said that there are no Pet/Summoner based classes at start, and that automaton looking thing is "dangerous fauna".
And yay, seamless world.

I'm awe-struck by the details of weather change. You see the clouds filling up the sky and slowly changing color, and then it starts raining, and thunder starts.

If it's not a lol job...I'll definitely play it...fuck I'm gonna play it regardless..

They said in an interview that they are thrilled to finally have a playable version (the alpha, which is a month or two old), and that another, newer playable version will be shown at TSG in Japan.

At the same time they will pick a focus group for closed beta, and when the game is polished enough, they will do an open beta. They also said they chose to show a playable version of the game at Gamecon because they wanted to see the fan's reaction and hear their opinion about what they want changed and added, and that they want to get a beta out as soon as possible, hopefully within a few months, as the game will be released in 2010, and they intend to do a longer beta testing then they had for FFXI.

So assuming "a few months" is jus that, a few months, and not in SE terms where "soon" can be as much as years in the case of new avatars, it sounds like closed beta will begin soon after TSG, and that open will begin in early 2010.

When beta starts someone needs to let me know lol... I will miss it like I missed Aion...

Just like old times, we should static again. I'll get to beat the shit out of Quattro, and blame stuff on him too!

OMG the weather system looks awesome ! I thought it was pretty cool in FFXI, but this just trumps it 5x over! I am so excited for this game. Not sure if Ill go Hume this round or stick with taru... I kinda lean toward magic again likely. But this game keep looking better and better. The charachter models look like(if not slightly better) than the CG video at the start of FFXI!

If anyone speak German, the third video (Gameplay Video #2) at http://www.ffxivcore.com/index.php?/topic/424-ffxiv-at-gamescom-updated-all-the-time/ is the same picture, but with a dev speaking about it.

Edit: Also, the emotes are just frikkin' awesome. They have facial expressions, and a thumb up emote xD And there's an awesome one for hume where he's fighting the air.

edit2: Seems monsters hunt eachother as shown in this pic:

Has better, higher res pics of some of those jobs shown. Looks like the job on the far right is a mage type since that looks like a staff that he is holding. As for the guy on the far left, still unsure since no weapon is shown. The mobs look pretty cool too.

You gonna name your character Casval or Char then? XD

(Cookie for anyone who gets the reference).

Unlike with Tieria...My hate for Amuro remains at the moment...

Ontopic: Soran and if we get to completely customize pets...Exia

According to Babelfish, the guy in the poncy white outfit is apparently a clothcrafter of some sort.

According to babbelfish, he's wearing a Bhuj, and is of the "Bachelor of war" (guessing Disciple of War), while the one in white is a Clothcrafter.

Interestingly, the MNK-one is apparently from "Bachelor of Art". Will Disciple of Art be yet another disciple like I suggested earlier, or is that the Japanese translation of "Disciple of the Hand"? And in that case, which craft might use hand-to-hand weapons?
