The Final Fantasy XI Players’ Collection is an exclusive series of exquisite new accessories designed to bring you even deeper into the world of Vana’diel.
Today, we’ve begun accepting orders for the first item in the series, the Tidal Talisman!

This stately pendant, wrought in the imposing shape of Leviathan, is an exclusive piece unobtainable elsewhere.
As an added bonus commemorating the release of the Players’ Collection, everyone who orders the talisman will also receive an in-game item of the same name.
We have no plans to bring this item back in the future, so all players are encouraged to take advantage of this unique one-time opportunity!

Interesting, but seems to be US only?

Also, how is a neck looking piece a body item ...? .__.

That was my thought exactly. And yeah, I know someone in my LS wanted to order it, but was pissed to find they only accept US credit cards.

I'd prolly get it if I could afford it (just for the in-game item really >.>), but I can't, so oh well. ;/ Pretty decent money-making scheme on SE's part, though, I must say. I doubt many people would've bought it if not for the enchantment on the in-game one.

I would actually buy it if SE didnt make the RL items such total garbage.
I bet the silver turns your neck green.

what is the enchantment on the ingame one, for us websense-laden people?

Body Piece item, Level 1, all Jobs

Teleportation between towns depending on which town you're in:

3 Home Nations -> Jueno [One way]
Jueno <--> Kazham [2 way]
Whitegate <--> Nashmau [2 Way]
Selbina <--> Mhaura [2 way]

NOTE: 2 way = you can use it in either town and it'll take you to the "opposite" location.

EDIT: Also, how the hell is this a body piece item? It's just a piece of string with a piece of metal attached to it. Would I appear in game somewhat naked?? XD

lol I'd definitely be using that Whitegate-Nashmau teleportation >.>

I second what Khajit said though. Stine bought me SE's Tonberry keychain/cell phone charm for Christmas last year, and his knife-wielding hand fell off after a week. I haven't been able to find it since :\

I'm afraid to move my FFIV figurines lol.

If the recharge timer is 24 hours fuck that

" Including the ability to project phantasmal robes over the wearer's body"

Even though it is a necklace, looks like the in game item will be a robe then.

Kinda makes sense. if people are going to throw down $50 for an in game item for something people would only know you have if they checked you. ( neck piece )

heh, the quote makes it seem like it'll have an aura (if there is an image, I'm sorry.) like the avatars, or the GMs. wonderfully lagtastic!

That's pretty high for 'silver-plated'.. and a leather string attached. The item is something I'd like for my collection of mythical things, but I'd wanna see how cool the in game item looked before even considering that ticket price. The game item is pretty useful, but I think they should have made it a bit less expensive.. or included a freakin collection disc set.

I was thinking the same. If you go to the official site page for it there is a flash video

I think its ugly. lol

A good idea on SE's part but the necklace looks okay but not something that I have to get. :/ It would have been nice if they would have shown the reuse timer for it. I'm assuming that you get unlimited number of uses. If not then it wouldn't be worth it to me. I think I'll pass on it this time.

OOOOO. I missed that.

afk killing myself.

Well it seems to be party effect so I guess that's nice..I bet poor Leviathan is churning in his proto-crystal with this scheme though

Yup. If the recharge is next to nothing, it's worth something (still a rip though). If not, it's shit. Just like the real necklace they are selling. Gawd, that thing is ugly.

Oh wow I just saw the flash video.

Pretty cute, the way they did it.

But the armor looks ... weird. Is it a full body set? It seems that either there are other pieces or that piece will have "cannot equip hand gear, head gear" etc on it...

I still have my knife, but my lantern hand fell off... somewhere... :(
