First Person Shooting Multiplayer Game

You have to understand that nobodies come online because it's the last place they can be a somebody. The mere fact that they are superior to some other person, no matter how they got that way, IS their entertainment. That's what a cheater is. They don't play for the competition, struggle, or teamwork. They play to be above someone else, period.

But there is a HUGE problem with this, you are not above them. Cheating in any sort of way is shitty and make you worthless as a player, and in my mind as a human being.

I'll play someone at Rakion for gil.

There is no such thing as a noob weapon in any FPS, just people that suck and don't know how to counter a weapon type.
Sure there is. It is a weapon that lets people kill who have no skill at all. In CS:S, the auto shotty is a fine example. Take the worst player ever, give him an auto shotty and he will get kills. All you have to do is run toward the enemy and hold the trigger, no aiming, no movement, no timing needed. Just charge and shoot in the general direction. Its not that people can't counter it. Rather, its overpowered and requires no to use it. While I dislike sniper rifles, a noob can't use one even a tenth as effectively as a pro. Give both of them an auto shotty and their scores will be much alike.

In Call of Duty 2 its the Trench Gun. Just point in the general direction of an enemy, pull the trigger for a one shot kill while all the snipers and riflemen work for their kills. If we all wanted to be most effective in that game, no one would use anything but the Trench Gun. That would be no fun for most players though. That is why it is discouraged.

Same reason camping is discouraged. I've seen many a Counter Strike match ruined because both sides just sit and camp. Yeah, that's fun. Let's sit for 6 minutes and watch time run out...for the 8th time in a row. :banghead3: It is for everyones benefit that you play in a way encouraging of fun for everyone. This in turn has a multiplier effect for you if everyone else plays that way too.

I enjoy camping. In Unreal Tournament 2k. On camping maps. With sniper rifles only. kekekekekeke

To me that just sounds like all the people that can't sneak on other players and knife them. If your pissed about a gun being unbalanced, you suck. Plain and simple. Think about what you said for a second though. You say that the shotgun type weapons are unbalanced because all you have to do is run at another person and shoot. No aiming, just spray and pray. Now what is the reason that Navy personel have shotguns again???? Oh yeah, because it's a spray and pray weapon for close quarters combat. Maybe the problem is you're not skilled enough to take them down before they get into range of that weapon being effective to have. The reason why it is discouraged, is because much of the same reason that people on FFXI cut people down for not using a particular sub or weapon or armor..... Because their ego is too damn big and it hurts them to be taken down by someone they feel is inferior for using a certain weapon. Get over yourself. Plus look at the type of games that you are playing. CS:S and CoD 2 are 2 of the biggest run and gun frag fest games out right now. There is very little squad play, minimal stategy needed and you don't need to do much more than press W and left mouse button at the time.

There is a very simple solution to the camping problem also. Find a server where people play the way you like to play. Actually that could be said about your "noob gun" theory also. I've camped the shit out of some games. Hell if you ever do any type of clan matches you will camp alot more than you will be running recklessly around shooting anything and everything. If you do chances are your clan loses more maps than wins. I look at it the same way I would look at a real gun fight. The people out moving around are easy targets for the ones holed up in stategic position.

I don't play to make the game fun for the other person. I play to win. That is what is fun for me. You don't like it touch shit, roll it around in your hands, then smear it on your face. That would be fun for me to see also you crazy bastard.

You don't have to convince me that illegitimate cheats are barrel-scraping worthless scum of the online community no matter how good they are or what they've "accomplished." I pretty much already made that stand in FFXI, and make no exceptions that cheats are losers.

I stopped playing unreal tournament because of what others have said--it turned into a bunch of pansie squatters and imbalance-users. In a game where control is limited and novelty saturates infinitely faster than in real life, "advantage" is nothing more than imbalance sooner or later. It gets boring. The camps get boring. The strategies get boring. To be a winner in a match requires you to play the forumula, not the game. And that right there is where I stop having fun.

Since I can't edit I wanted to add one more thing.

Ubisoft proved that if you bitch and moan and act like a total pussy long enough then they will change a game to try to even everything out......Hmmm what other game did that happen to? I wonder.

No, Shaunessy, the auto shotgun really is pretty gay in Counter-Strike.

If your gonna quote me you have to do it with something other than what I call people or it just doesn't have the effect you want. Obviously though you look up to me to insult me with something I use to insult others. Thank you.

Okay Peregrine.

You missed the point entirely. The problem is not, people can't kill them. That is easy because they are noobs and aren't very good. The problem is they will always get someone with their kamikaze style that takes no skill. Just run and when you see the enemy pull the trigger. That takes no skill. What part of that did you not understand?

Your analogy fails horribly. Those don't relate in the slightest. In one we are talking about using an unskilled person using a weapon that requires no skill. In the other we are talking about subjobs that maximize exp efficiency. There is no relationship there to create an analogy for. If anything, ffxi encourages whatever maximizes your effect regardless of skill. So your analogy even counterdicts itself. :banghead3:
CS:S and CoD 2 are 2 of the biggest run and gun frag fest games out right now.
Considering I just got back from a lan this weekend where I played both of those (and bf2) for 12 hours straight...I would have to say, NO. You are confusing run and gun with tactical shooter that rewards skilled marksminship. Otherwise, I wouldn't have won the CoD2 tournament with three times the kills of second place. The gameplay is heavily based on skill. If we all equiped auto shottys/trench guns, then yes you would be right. Quake4 has a lot in common with run and gun though. However, it doesn't apply well to CoD2 or CS:S. Have you even played a capture the flag map on CoD2?
There is a very simple solution to the camping problem also. Find a server where people play the way you like to play.
I thoght that was implied by my statement that 'the match was ruined'. As in: it was good, it went bad, I left. Thank you for stating the obvious.
Hell if you ever do any type of clan matches you will camp alot more than you will be running recklessly around shooting anything and everything.
Obvioously, considering a clan match is all about the win. Public play is about everyone having fun. Don't use clan matchs as an excuse for being a jerk during public play. There is a time and place for cheap tactics.
I look at it the same way I would look at a real gun fight. The people out moving around are easy targets for the ones holed up in stategic position.
Again with the failed analogies. Real life gunfights aren't to have fun. Totally different objectives which create totally different styles.
I don't play to make the game fun for the other person. I play to win. That is what is fun for me.
If that was your only guiding principal, you would cheat every game you played. Winning isn't fun in itself. I've been in my share of CS games where it was so one sided we won in 30 secs every time for 10 games in a row. That's not fun. It is the challenge and competition that is fun. Noob guns reduce the challenge of the game and thus the fun.
You don't like it touch shit, roll it around in your hands, then smear it on your face. That would be fun for me to see also you crazy bastard.
You either have some strange anger issues or even stranger fetishes. I don't think any of us want to know what you get off on.

Shaunessy, can you at least produce an argument of mild value? This isn't even flameboard quality material.

And in BF2 people play SF just to throw a few C4 on a jeep and run it into a tank. While I get mad that I was caught by such a tactic I just hit J call them a pussy and taunt them to do it again. The next time I see them I put a 120 MM round through there vehicle.

I feel it fits perfectly. How do you know the person that is playing the WAR/BRD is an unskilled "noob" player? Same with how do you know that the person using the USAS is? That is how they relate. Granted there are those that suck at FPS, everyone that does a kamakazi run with a spray and pray weapon can't be catigorized as a noob though.

I have the game and played on many a laggy server with nothing going on other than KILL KILL KILL capture flag KILL KILL KILL. Congratulations though on the win. Isn't it great to be able to look at the people you just owned.

You're welcome.

How is it being a jerk to use tactics that you know and win with? I think the jerks are the ones you own and then bitch about it like little kids.

Again with the failed analogies. Real life gunfights aren't to have fun. Totally different objectives which create totally different styles.
Ok so in a real gun fight the objective is to kill the person shooting at you. Now isn't that the same objective in a shooter game?

Are you a vegetarian? Winning isn't fun? Now I see the problem we have here. Who was it the said winning isn't everything? Oh yeah, the loser.

You either have some strange anger issues or even stranger fetishes. I don't think any of us want to know what you get off on.
Did you ever see a japanese woman shitting on a plastic covered bed?

Shaunessy, can you at least produce an argument of mild value? This isn't even flameboard quality material.
Heh. I'm not afraid of your intellect. Actually I like sparring with someone that is on my level.

Ugh, just no. Picking a bad subjob is stupidity, like equiping mp gear on a thf/nin. Skill doesn't factor into the equation. Thus the analogy does not apply.

All of those show you missed the same point. Winning in and of itself is not fun. I already provided two examples that prove that. It is the challenge that is fun. A game is not fun if there is no challenge no matter how many times you win. If winning was all that mattered, then beating the five year old next door at candy land would be just as fun as beating an experienced player at Chess. Noob guns and cheap tactics remove the challenge, which in turn removes the fun. If all that matters is fun, I fully expect you to cheat and hack to your utmost ability since nothign else is required for you to have fun except winning. That logic is so flawed, I feel guilty tearing into it.

The funny thing is it actually worked for the party. See even now your closemindedmess hampers your true ability.

Yes winning is fun. Granted the win is more appealing when you had to work harder to get it, but anyone who says, "hey we lost but wasn't that fun" is an idiot. I've said it a few times, in certain circumstances, but mainly because I never had a win under my belt to compare it to. The best thing that can ever come from a loss is knowledge.

Personally though I don't cheat. A win isn't a win if you had to cheat to get it. But using all available resorces provided by said game to win i.e. autoshotty/camping, is not cheating. See we just see FPS differently. I don't want a challenge in the same way that you do. I want someone to break my position and take me out. At the same time though I can rush with the best of them. Rushing 95% of the time though equals death. Have you ever gone for 30 mins in GR and had 30+ kills and 2 deaths? I have. It was great, and guess what, there was no challenge to it. You know why? I thought up a strategy and me and my brother acted it out. In a sence there was a challenge, it was coming up with the strategy. After that though we just kicked ass on the playing level and won so easy it made me laugh. So winning is all that matters and how you do it has no importance over the win, unless you cheat.

If that is what you call tearing into something then damn, just leave, cause if your flaming skills equate over to your FPS skills then the people you played to get your wins in lan sucked.

You attacked someone for using the same tactic you did in the previous post... - .-; Also you PHAIL at imitating Peregrine.

Shaunessy, I would NEVER play against you at an FPS.. it wouldn't be any fun at all. Nobody likes playing against faggotry like that on a casual server. Clan players and casuals are two entirely different animals... one side plays to win at any cost, the other plays to enjoy playing the goddamn game.

Yeah because you enjoy playing when your team loses every map. Get the hell out of here with that nonsence.

There is the occasional clanner who plays for the enjoyment of the game. he just happens to be infinatly better than everyone else <,<
