I think by payment history AOL could have recovered the info but AIM is free of course. I couldn't remember my old s/n and made a new one. I finally remembered what the s/n and password was like 4 months ago and everyone was like *gasp* you're on! Go go linking screen names.

My AIM s/n reminder is tied to my yahoo e-mail. I don't deal with their(AOHells) support at all, ever. I hate actual AOL but because so many people use AIM I have to use AIM so I can chat with them outside of school so I don't have to use the money sucking soul stealing phone.

Ding. Spoofing is a pretty common security concern that IT folks - and customer service reps - need to be aware of.

Anyone could start up a convo like that, try to provide their enemy's e-mail address to get the username, then start another session with a different service rep to have the password reset for that username. If they were to provide you that info right off the bat, they'd be incredibly stupid.

Simmer down girlfriend, you're the one in the wrong. They don't support Hotmail accounts.

Meaning, they will not provide technical support if you use a Hotmail account. Even though a Hotmail account may work when you're signing up for AIM, you will not get technical support from AOL staff. They do not support Hotmail accounts. I can't say this any more clearly.
