IMO rules fucked the FB.
I'm all for harkening back to the Cubs days of a gentle janitorial service and the random lock/delete of wholly unacceptable material.
It's the flameboard. Fuck you if you don't like what's posted there, don't read it or respond in kind about how you don't like said post. No one should be bound, in the confines of the flameboard, by someone else's likes or dislikes. If something gives you pause to bitch... then bitch. That's what it's for, damnit.
It's not a place for thin-skinned pansies, if you get offended or your blood pressure goes up over a post on a message board on the internet you belong in this group of people who should know better than to click the goddamn link allowing you in.
It's becoming more and more annoying seeing people scream 'i'm offended' over there. Welcome to the fuckin club, we've got jackets. That's why it's a flameboard. The idea is to be offensive. We tried the approach of civility and conflict resolution, remember? It failed miserably and allowed FB content to spill over to EVERY other section of the boards. You can't very well have the kind of discourse the FB stands for if you've got a bunch of hippies running around screaming 'zomg racism/sexism/etc-ism'. People say crap in the heat of the moment, in years past this is why there was no edit button. It's called accountability. Think before you type or be labeled a moron and work that shit out on your own time.
Also the edit button should go (even though i use it heavily to add here and there to fix stuff) and a request for lock on a thread contained in the FB should not only be denied it should be posted simply to show that the poster didn't have the balls to be there in the first place.
But that's just me..
Also that threatening/harrassment shit via PM and/or rating system needs to be cut the fuck out. Alot of you need to stop taking yourselves and what gets said around here so goddamn seriously.
As far as BBT goes he deserved every bit of the treatment he recieved. Fuck, i tried to be nice to the guy and even toss him a bit of a compliment in the form of credit for actually contributing to the board in other areas... All i got for the effort was nice rate-down and more of his jibbering bullshit because he couldn't handle the negative attention he drew to himself (from other people, as i wasen't included for the most part) for no reason in particular. It's called karma and yes, it's a bitch.
Edit: On the note of the actual rules i like how the console geeks/religious nuts/military/political crowds as well as many others can flame each other rampantly in their own little corners of the board or topics outside the FB without reprisal but the rest of us who wish to opine offensively about RL/generalized BS/or topics in relation to other games QCDN *has* created room for can go sit and spin or face disciplinary action because no arrangements have been made for offensive material that is not XI-related but still manages to proliferate, that's a nice touch.. really. Either it's a place to blow steam about whatever the entirety of the board covers or it's just for crybaby bullshit from XI. Way to water down the bread-winner section. For better or worse it's the most read and generates the most new users to the board, limiting it to 'in game only' stuff has never worked and will never work as it's never been fully enforced and i'm doubtful it ever will be.
Either way QCDN has been expanded past it's XI-ONRY days for quite some time now, get your heads out of the sand and just live with it. Either that or go about making seperate FBs for each section so i don't have to keep reporting the same offenders over and over again. You guys (should) have more important crap to worry about than who's rage-dumping about what on the FB anyway.
