Of the 4 people that I know for a fact that have bought gil, 1 complains more than anyone I know, 2 don't complain at all, and the other doesn't play enough to care.

3 of these people have helped me out with gil before. one bought an item for me for about 2 mil (paid them back), one bought me a 600k item for my Birthday, and one has given me an item worth 800k (free and clear).

One of my friends who buys gil says he can work 2 hours and buy 5 million gil, or he can farm for a week. Another part of his reasoning is that he doesn't get to play often, and he doesn't want to spend the bit of time he does play farming.

I haven't ever bought gil. I don't bitch about prices. I actually think prices are about where they need to be right now. It's easy to go out and farm 1 mil in about about a week no matter what job/level you are. 1 mil will get pretty much any job to 60 with mediocre equipment and cheap food.

I had a hell of a time making gil when I was new because the economy of the vendors was horrible in comparison to our economy on ah.

I quit playin rdm because I couldn't afford dispell, I was gonna have to farm about 10 stacks of silk in order to buy it. 1 stack of silk will do that now.
The economy got harsh in comparison to what it used to be, but it was needed.

Now I'm gonna say this, and I accept that people will heavilly disagree with me... Scorpian Harness, Pentinents rope, Vermillion cloak, Hakutaku Clusters, waaaaaaay underpriced for what they do.

and further more, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah....

got tired of typin the message. You get my point tho, right?
 
I buy gil.

That's why I have 9K gil left, and shit for gear.

It's not RMT, it's SUPPLY AND DEMAND.

More people wants these items, and these items are hard to come by, thus rising in price.

Or when these items are far too popular, it's price too rises.

On topic: I haven't had time to play alot lately, but I did notice people complaining about prices when they could be farming instead of spamming /shouts which result in nothing.
 
Silk Thread in Jeuno is currently 70k a stack. I used to farm silk a lot, I still do from time to time. Along with some Saruta Cotton I can make around 300k in 5 hours of farming (thats 4 stacks of thread and a stack of cotton approx.). Now my thief is lvl 52, the gear that I would like to have by level 60 is around 30 million gil after inflation (only including items at least over 1M): 2 Grace Rings: 4M, 1 more Snipers Ring: 4M, S.H. 15M (last sale was 16M, VClaw is around 14M so I can always get it crafted so I rounded), Spectacles (I havent checked price in awhile but I would assume they are at least 5M espescially with increase in PCC price):~5M+, for lvl 60 2 Agi+4 rings: Probably no less than 2M, once again havent checked in awhile, but thats a pretty good estimate concerning the rise in those ring price.

If I were to farm 5-6 hours everyday on silk and cotton it would take me 100 days or approx. 3 months to get all the gil I needed. Assuming I am awake 16 hours of the day and sleep for 8 hours that means 3/8ths of my waking time is spent farming silk for 3 months, 500-600hrs, 21-25 full days, about 1/5 of my total play time since ps2 release is spent farming silk. When someone complains about ridiculous prices irl, such as gas, do you ever tell them to put a rig in their backyard, probably not. People have reasonable complaints about the rise in prices of items, some take it to extremes, but telling them to go farm silk doesnt do shit.

I level Bonecraft which right now doesnt make me much money, my goal usually is to break even and that seems my best bet. Only another 44 lvls to 100. This seems like my best bet, it just means I wont lvl any jobs until I have BC at 90+ and profitable cash flow.

I have never bought gil nor will I ever buy gil, I don't need IGE to enjoy this game (although I do like counter camping sellers every once and a while). Speaking of IGE some of you may say why don't you camp NMs for gil. Currently I have a bcnm semi static with my BST, which just started up, we do well no deaths so far but only mediocre drops. I'm pretty much burnt out on NMs. I dont camp VE or LL anymore for obvious reasons, I have around 45 claims on Hoo Mjuu and I despise him, dont do stroper anymore for obvious reasons, I can outclaim sellers on Oz birds every once in awhile but it isnt easy to beat a 3 man team with a bot and then get drop. Most other NMs that are big money are too high for me. It isnt a viable option anymore.

Ive mined, ive harvested, ive done choco digging (not seriously just when im bored), i craft, i farm, ive camped NMs, i do BCNMs, and the only hope for me to get the gear that I want in a reasonable amount of time isn't as much about how much effort i put into research or how long i can endure farming anymore its about a lucky break....or gimping a hi demand job to hi lvls, then getting it decent gear and getting in a HNMLS...but no thanks.

PS: Im glad that LC's can now actually make snipers rings to some degree since that has inflated and not archers xD

2 things:

1. you don't NEED to factor in HQ gear (for example, dex+4 and agi+4 rings - you can go with +3 rings and save a shitload of gil)

2. snipers rings actually took a few weeks to FOLLOW archers rings to 4+ mil. There was a couple weeks' lag where Archers were 4mil and Snipers were still hanging at 2mil. That is no longer the case.

1. Thats the difference b/t me and you then i guess, those rings would last me until my 70s its a worthwhile investment, and I try to have very good equip.

2. Did you not read what i wrote? I said i was glad that LC could now break even on that synth.

i experienced my first major notice of people bitching last night. It was in {/shout}. usually i dont pay attention to shouts unless i'm board and looking for something to do. I was board but not so much looking for something to do last night lol. Well all i see is a bunch of people say "its the gill sellers its the gill buyers fuck them i'm quiting blah blah blah"
Yet, as people tried to explain to them WHY the prices were rising they stuck to there theory of lets blame the gill sellers. It literally got so bad i turned {/shout} off.

Seriously if your going to bitch, at least make an effort to try and fix the problem, and standing in jeuno shouting for an hour about how you can't afford something isn't going to help you get it any faster. Just jacking off waiting to go to bed not even trying to make any form of money i made ~150k in drops, grannit i was soloing as thf/nin which helps a lot ;) Dancing Edge is DASHIT.

People need to stop bitching about things, and just go out and have fun. If there is something you want, there is some way to "earn" the money for it and still have fun doing it. BCNM, is it really that hard to find 2 friends? If you don't have enough seals for a bcnm, what job haven't you lvl'd or unlocked yet? If you don't have all 14 jobs or whatever unlocked and lvld to 75 there is always something that you can do in this game that is fun that will give you gill in return, hence why there is so much money in the system.

Stop droping those items that you think are "worthless" and "waistspace in my inv". I never lose money going xping, it always pays for my food to stand there (unless the party is completly bogus).

In short, quit bitching and just find new ways the have fun there is more then ONE job or piece of equipment that you can play with to have fun.

The problem is how exponential things get.

Lets say I'm trying to save up money for item X that's 10m, I make 1m and now it's 11m, I make 2m, and now it's 15m, by the time I make 10m, it's at like 50m.

Gil is far too worthless, if I want to buy an item worth 10m, and I sell an item worth 20m to buy it, but also sells slowly, if it takes just TWO days for it to sell, the fast moving 10m item might be 12-15m. It's way to hectic and unpredictable.

I've made about 10m in "new" gil, and like 90328750280542238097m in increased net worth because of this in like 5 days (without an effort even), and I still think it's a very bad thing that this inflation is happening, I'm not bitching because I can't afford stuff, or because I can't make money, it's because there's no reason to keep cash, use the AH, or anything, I can't keep gil in liquid form at all, even if I had 15million in items I only bouguht so my worth isn't devalued, it'd take 2-5 days just to buy a 2-4m item since I'd have to sell items first, way for gil to come in, hope prices didn't inflate too much, then buy it.

at this rate we really would be better off with an SoJ or barter system and forget about gil really.
