Food for thought next time you consider buying gil...

I guess it's nice that it provides jobs for people, and I suppose I could forgive the workers if they really don't understand how much joy they are stealing from people by messing up the games' economies. I would love to torture the people in charge though. Reeds under the fingernails, anal electrocution, the works.

Yanking their testicles out through their eye sockets with a 1979 Bronco...

This has opened my eyes somewhat, I didnt realize the managers were making such a killing off the surreal market... good post.

Unfortunately, even if we tried to co-exist peacefully with sellers, it just wouldn't happen. The constant warring across the multiple games and platforms has created an almost religious hate between players and sellers, and I think that anybody who starts to sell has already acknowledged this. It's difficult to revert feelings of angst that have carried on for so long.

. . .

i must admit that this was VERY interesting to read, however, it does NOT change my hatred toward gil-sellers and gil-buyers.

Well its funny, really. On my WoW server the horde side was run by a couple mega-guild (500+ members) from pervious forum communities. Instead of declaring war on the gold sellers we bought them a guild (linkshell) and tabards, (Name was One G One G One G, inside joke.) not only did this help us identify them, but they have always been pretty amicable ever since. They keep to their little corners and farm 24 hrs and we do our thing. Theres no real competition with them, no need for it.

If you want peace you gotta work for it. I'm gonna say without a doubt the quetz community will never reach a state of peace witht he sellers. Its gone too far and too much spilt blood. However in other games and places there is definately hope.

You might say why have peace, they are cheating and helping others cheat, it ruins the game blah blah whine whine, but this 'war' helps no one either, and violence begets violence as it were.

However, in WoW gold selling is not a big issue. Most of the good drops are BoE or BoP and can't be sold. The way they have made WoW in that sense will keep gold selling/buying not a problem at all. However, I remember the horde would contact us in the beginning as to their local (we were alliance so could openly pvp them) and we'd go pwn their faces and corpse camp them until they'd just log for a few. Did no good as for they weren't hurting anyone but this is before everyone realized it will never cause a problem in WoW.

Based off what IGE says right now ($26 for 2 mil gil on Quetz)... I figure if you worked 40 hours a week for 5 dollars per hour, you would have to make over 15 million gil. That works out to about 375k gil an hour. I don't know how many hours they work or what kind of gil they can make an hour. If anyone has any good guesses we could estimate how much they make. Not to mention I am figuring this is for one person, not a whole crew.

This is true without a doubt. It makes me think that it is more in the developer's hands whether or not RMT is a problem in their game. As much as we love it, FFXI is an old game and was still testing the waters in MMo development. In the future i think we will see more games that discourage RMT by basically making it useless or harmless, like warcraft did. There isnt much we as the legitimate players can really do. (other than not buy currency... lol) But drug trafficking happens whether i smoke it or not, and RMT isnt going to go away. So yeah...

IF you don't buy extasy and drugs so many people would lose their jobs also neche....
