For all you NiGHTS fans

That was a great game. I wonder if they will have a christmas edition for wii too. I can't wait, but I dont even know if i'll get a wii; so many great games coming out soon. Aghh.. but NiGHTS calls...

"Christmas Nights" came out for a reason. It was a Demo to make up for the Ill-timed Launch of "NiGHTS into Dreams"...

I don't know why, but it was Sega's bright idea to release it at the same time the Nintendo 64 was coming out. Nights was overshadowed by Super Mario 64.

This isn't a one-time thing, either. Capcom / Clover Studio's excellent game "Okami" for PlayStation 2 was overshadowed by the release of Nintendo Wii (and PS3 just around the corner). It was an excellent game, but due to lack of sales, Clover Studio (Capcom's development team and creators of "Viewtiful Joe") disbanded and crapped out.

But this looks nice... I just hope Sega doesn't find a way to screw it up like they did Sonic for me.

This is the reason I bought the Wii. I can't wait.

I just creamed myself.

One thing that got me thru the endless looping was the music, Night's Score is awesome! I hope it lives up to the last one.

It sure did... I made sure to download the entire soundtrack when I had the chance.

Back when it first came out, my Mom used to annoy me by singing "Dreams, Dreams" (The ending credits theme) over and over again. Ahh... That was roughly 11 years ago or so...

Ive played the crap out of nights and christmas nights. I just hope this is a good game but more than likely it won't be. This better not be like the new "Sonic the Hedgehog."

I heard that (and i cant click that link at work to read exactly what it says about the game) this game is going to have a kind of action adventure aspect to it - where it isn't mostly like the first one but will have that kind of parts to it. That was kind of a let down for me - I don't exactly know what they're talking about and I'll have to do some more research on it (or just play the game when it comes out lol), but I was really hoping that this game would just be a directly updated version of the first one with better graphics and honestly barely any point to it feeling. It seems that the idea of pointless games isn't popular with developers - even after the success of Katamari..

Or is this what you were talking about when you compared it to Sonic? Again I can't read the link @ wrk ..

The first NiGHTS into Dreams had a point... Hell, it had a full-fledged story. NiGHTS and Reala were both creatures created by the dark lord "Wizeman" with the intent to serve and fulfill his dark purposes. Wizeman's ambition was to conquer humanity and the world by manipulating mankind's subconscious thoughts through use of Nightmares and Nightmare creatures (called "Nightmaren") that he created. NiGHTS and Reala were his two best Nightmaren. Wizeman planned to accomplish his task by ordering his Nightmaren to harvest "Ideya Spheres" from Humans through their dreams. The spheres represent different virtues of the human soul, such as "Intellegence", "Love", "Courage" and whatnot. Two kids, Elliot Edwards and Claris Sinclair--Who were both going through their own personal issues in real life--were different from normal humans because their "Courage" Ideya Spheres couldn't be stolen by Nightmaren. Meanwhile, NiGHTS being filled with compassion for Humans decides to rebel against Wizeman. Wizeman gets angry and seals NiGHTS inside a shrine-like altar in Nightopia ("Dreamland"). Claris and Elliot, both after a hard day in their lives (Claris gets stage fright auditioning for the local city play, and Elliot is upset after he and his friends got owned in a basketball game), fall asleep and stumble across NiGHTS who is trapped. NiGHTS appeals to the kids and tells them that if they merge bodies with him, together they can destroy Wizeman and his Nightmaren and save Nightopia and ultimately humanity.

Sorry--I played the crap outta that game... Hahahaha... <_<;;

hahahha devi.. you know what i meant :) It was the kind of game that you didn't have to care about the plot and just go around in circles aimlessly if you wanted just for hours.. etc etc..

thats so funny though, thanks for the refresher :)

How the hell can you control someone by influencing their dreams? You can't--- well... Maybe you can...

*Flashes back to Nightmare on Elm Street 6: Freddy's Dead; The Final Nightmare...*

...Freddy killed all the kids and put all the adults under mind control... Remind me never to visit the town of Springwood, Ohio.

But yeah. I know SEGA's gonna find a way to screw this game up. I know they are.

Yuji Naka was talking about NiGHTS 2 in the Sega Dreamcast days. He kept saying "Yes... No... Yes... No... Maybe... Yes... No..." to making a sequel. Then said "I don't wanna make NiGHTS 2 because it's my 'baby', the same way 'E.T. The Extraterrestrial' is Steven Spielberg's baby." ... Finally, him, and about 10 Members of Sonic Team left to found a new 3rd Party game company called "PROPE"... He finally stated that he "Has no intention of revisiting previous SEGA properties." ... So SEGA goes ahead and works on this game.

Why couldn't they do this with Burning Rangers as well? Burning Rangers was a good game.

What pissed me off was that before Sonic Team left, they pumped out a whole buncha crap... They "took a fat dump" for lack of a better term... Shadow The Hedgehog, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Rivals, Sonic Pinball Party, Sonic The Hedgehog (2006), Sonic & The Secret Rings, Billy Hatcher & The Giant Egg, then they ruined one of my most favorite Anime series of all time by making "Astro Boy" into a crappy, watered down "NiGHTS" clone on PS2.

The only good Sonic games that have been out recently were on Handhelds. Sonic Advance 1, 2, & 3... Sonic Battle... and Sonic Rush. That's it.

"Sonic Mega Collection" was OK, even with the inclusion of "Ristar" (which was originally a tentative character Sonic Team created in the late 80's before finally coming up with "Sonic The Hedgehog")... But "Sonic Gems Collection" made me mad... They crammed it with a whole bunch of Game Gear games, put in the Box Art and Promo Art for "Knuckles' Chaotix" but didn't put in the game itself? What kind of garbage is that?

"Oh, let's put in Vectorman 1 & 2 instead!"... Yeah, that makes sense.

Vectorman was a good game, but it has nothing to do with Sonic... I'd have rather had Chaotix.

The point I'm trying to reach is that I know somehow SEGA's gonna find a way to run this into the ground for me. And then I will hate them forever and be forced to get in my car and take a 5 hour drive North out here in California and destroy SEGA of America H.Q. in San Fransisco myself.

I personally enjoyed sonic riders, and Sonic Adventure 2 was worth it just for the soundtrack.

Regardless, I'd like to see a DS version of NIGHTS..

This makes me sad. I have always bought a sega system prior to getting anything else (ex. Saturn then PS1) and even thought there hardware sells weren't great there games were always pretty good. Ever since they went software only they have been sucking big time. I still love Sega, but the new "Sonic The Hedgehog" was the biggest disappointment and was a pain to try to like. I'm ashamed. As much as I want to buy NiGHTS when it comes out, I will rent it first.
