For blm: Nashira Seraweels vs Igqira Lappa

That should put you at 267 if your skill is capped, but why would you use Pluto's Staff for enfeebles?

I'm guessing he uses it for sleep. I use pluto for sleep, Aquilo for Bind, Austere for gravity, etc, etc.

Yea, didn't clairify. I'm at 269 right now after putting one merit into Enfeebling. (unsure if thats a good move as of yet)

And Alanon said, I do switch staves according to whatever spell I'm using. Dark for Sleep, Aquilos for Bind, etc etc.

Last I heard magic accuracy isn't even worth the space it takes to write down on the piece of gear it's that useless.
I wouldn't say it's useless as it definately used to help land enfeebs on gods during the first wave of merits, but with the newer (2?) merit level increases and new abilities, it isn't needed as much...

Until I get a Duelist Chapeau, I'm still using my HQ beanie.

Well they are a waste because it's like getting a swift belt when you already have a speed belt. You just got an inferior piece of gear that's rare/ex. To someone else (a rdm) that would have been an elite piece of gear.

Sums up the thread.

Like said by Stouter, you're a red mage and hence don't have access to Igqira Lappas, making them a viable piece of equipment for your redmage.

I'd love to know if someone can make a direct comparison to say... 5 Magic Acc. and 5 Enfeebling points, but you'd have to test on something that gives a reasonable amount of resists, which might be a little dangerous.

I'm sure you could try say, Slow Gravity Paralyze Blind Bind Sleep, etc. While in an EXP party or if you know you have a fail safe back up incase shit hits the pan.

Who knows maybe I'll test this when my Red Mage is high enough for the majority of Magic Acc. Gear (specifically Wise gear). It'd definately be interesting to put this [sort of] myth in order.

Ya I'll agree with everybody... Nashira pants are coveted by RDMs and don't match up for BLM. And I was referring to the usefulness of magic accuracy not the pants :O

But as far as magic accuracy, it definately helps as that's basically what the first tier RDM job specific merits are. Unfortunately because everything is so damn random in the game, it's hard to say how much each increase helps, but I know with a wind accuracy merit, I went from never being able to silence Suzy and Kirin to occasionally silencing them.

It's also easy for me to see the magic accuracy effect in nuking things in Dynamis/Limbus. I have ice accuracy merit and my blizzard III will usually not get resisted versus my thunder III will get 50% resist alot. Sorta of sticks out like a sore thumb to the point I use relic pants on Thunder while on Blizzard I'll use Mahatma slops.

I hate to volunteer anybody for testing, but I think Uzor is probably the best person to talk to this. He has more of the end game enfeeb skill+ gear than I do, and I can lend him magic accuracy gear if he's interested in giving it a go...

Now the other question would be what critter could we test on without getting killed.

Isn't it a bit hard to test something like magic accuracy? It's not like melee accuracy where it's either a hit or a miss (0 or a 1), you can get different types of resists. I've seen variations by halves in damage on elemental spells and for sleep, it's full resist, half sleep time or full effect (not sure how well other enfeebles work, I didn't really level RDM, but I'd guess it's not much different). Plus, no parser to my knowledge measures this type of thing so you'd have to do it all by hand.

If you're using elemantal staves for nuking, then you're getting an extra 10 Elemental Skill when using blizzard, which will also have a large effect on accuracy...

From a RDM perspective, the strength of the Magic Accuracy stat is a little bit hard to gauge. The best pieces of gear are either very difficult to get (Aureole is +8 but is dropped from AV, Seraweels are +3 but are from Ultima) or are in equip slots with the best enfeebling gear (Chasuble and Wise Cap are both +5, but AF1 body and AF2 hat are both Enfeebling Skill +15).

So far, it hasn't been feasible to put together a set of gear that has good Enfeebling Skill (which is what most RDMs use to routinely cast) and then to be able to add Magic Accuracy gear on top of that to see how much difference it makes. It will certainly help, but so far it isn't practical, and most RDMs won't have very much MagAcc gear in their Enfeebling setups because of this, not because the MagAcc stat is weak.

.

DING DING DING! Beat me to it!

Leave the nuking to us!

Blms kill the stones
Rdms sleep the mobs
Melee have Epeen contests over who does the most WS damage!
Whms raise the "Winner"

Can we please keep our roles straight?

Very very true. Durh...

I still think magic accuracy has use at least in previous testing at gods... But as noted earlier and explained better by Courtney, hard to prove.

So could one say that enfeeb skill> magic acc gear? Its hard not to say that but it seems that mag acc is a skill that affects all kinds of offensive spells while enfeeb gets down to the point so its more noticeable ie warlock's tabard

guessing thats why its hard to gauge? I'm thinking of selling grammary cape since i swap it with red cape for extra mag acc macro

Thanks for all the comments. I've pretty much decided to use my hot red pants just for walking around in whitegate. :P

Enfeebling Skill affects the accuracy only of Enfeebling Spells
Elemental Skill affects the accuracy only of Elemental Spells
Magic Accuracy affects the accuracy of both Enfeebling and Elemental Spells.

Somewhere there is a relationship between them. A certain amount of Enfeebling Skill will have the same effect on the accuracy of Slow as a certain amount of Magic Accuracy. The problem is that there is very little Magic Accuracy gear, it's all relatively new, and most of it is inferior to the Enfeebling gear in the same equipment slots. On top of this, Magic Accuracy on enfeebles is very difficult to measure, you can't get a simple number when testing (like you do with Magic Attack). Currently (as far as I'm aware) the relationship between Enfeebling Skill and Magic Accuracy isn't known, and noone even has a fairly accurate guess.

It probably isn't that Skill > MagAcc for enfeebles, just that in just about every equipment slot where you can get decent MagAcc, there's a stronger skill item, so that's what gets used.

Hehe. Well, can't say I didn't earn them. :P Been to probably 50 limbus runs, omegas/ultimas and have so far only gotton bst af+1, a couple earrings, and a shit-ton of coins. lol. I would have preferred something a little more blm-centric, but oh well. I guess that's life.

I can't complain though. I love those earrings. And bst af+1 is hot shit for soloing.

As a whm, I didn't heavily focus my equipment on enfeebling (yet) but my Nashira Turban (Macc+5) has proven to be of great help on DC-VT mobs.

thanks courtney and thats what I meant to say about the elemental magic and enfeebling magic, etc. I'm sorta vague sometimes>.>

I love my Nashira Seraweels as both BLM and RDM. However, I doubt Nashira Seraweels will be better then Igqira legs for enfeebling for BLM. Nashira Seraweels are rather useless for BLM =/ Only thing its really good for is the +haste for stun timer...
