Seriously, I agree with both of you, so I really have nothing to add except something to amuse myself. Rules are rules, and Mods are normal human beings. Be they stupid or genius, they're not perfect. I know everyone on this thread has a good sense of humor and a somewhat good repretoire with one another so a joke with a somewhat twisted outcome (racist, sexist, bigottry, w/e) can be confused at some point with genuine dislike.

I made that post in the Spook thread because I was approached, via PMs, that someone was feeling victimized by racist comments. I made the post, the PMs stopped. One would think this means all is well in la-la land.

Meeze, if you are truly and irrefutably feeling a victim of racism by Shyrra's post, I'll carry through with my promise. You're usually far more capable of taking a joke - which you, I, and Shyrra all know was the intention of his "racist" post - but I will stand by my word.

If anyone's feeling truly victimized by racism (PUBLICLY) then yes, action will be taken. I know these words open the doors to a flood of PMs from everyone who will be crying out for their non-friends to be tempbanned because they said "white boy" or whatever, but I guess this is one of the responsibilities we have to uphold.

Reeve (and in the past, Sculli) holds a fairly firm stance on situations of true racism, and I (and the other mods) are here to ensure those stances are enforced during his absence. Because in the end, if someone's feeling a victim of racism and calls up a legal eagle, Reeve is the man who has to answer for it and we are the community who will then suffer by losing our domain.

I treat moderating like a job because that's the only fair way to do it. Employees need to follow certain rules defined by a Code of Business Conduct, regardless of who they are or the position they hold. While QCDN's so-called "COBC" is not nearly as white-and-black as it is in the corporate world, we need to exercise judgment when users feel their basic human rights are being jeopardized.

We have let racist comments slide in the past - and yes, ladies and gentlemen, that means "exceptions" - because the people saying and receiving the racist comments have senses of humour or know eachother, would say the same things if they were face-to-face, and would heartily enjoy it in a very humane sense.

Meeze you tell me, honestly and publicly, that you truly feel you are a victim of racism. I don't want Internet words borne solely out of spite for the fags in green. I want your words, from your mouth, shown through the keyboard before you.

I know for a fact you're not feeling victimized. You never have because you dish out what you receive. You don't like getting higher-ups involved for pissy little quabbles, you take it into your own hands. We're also not professional forum admins. We can only speculate at what is possible in a worst-case scenario. It's easy to tell when people are joking and when people are serious with their racist or religious comments. The serious ones are acted upon - the others are not.

Rules are gray because of the large userbase. A lot of people are throwing derogatory terms around in a friendly manner - I do this at work. When it gets real and someone feels the victim, then the the logo flashes to the sky and action is taken. I know I've said this at least 3 times in this post but that seems to be a very non-considered thought by a lot of people here.

I know I don't ever report people for doing shit, but I'm getting reported for shit in the flameboard. It's ridiculous. Of all places where derailing is OKd, it sure as fuck is the FB, and I wasn't even the one who derailed, I just made a good joke at it.

I get the racism thing if it was a set in stone, but every time I post a funny pic:

...it is meant as a joke. I roast people, that is what I do, so what is the difference between the jokes I make on people, and the joke Shyrra made on me? He called me a beaner, I called a black guy moon cricket.

This is why it needs to be either offensive or not, with no grey area. Otherwise, people can selectively be offended based on who is saying what. It's all against the rules, or none of it is. This is one of those cases.

Also, if Meeze got one, Shyrra better have gotten one too.
