Forced disconnection

lol, the problem with this.. is that, it never fails, that someone takes it personally (at least in my experiences) and argues that the setup can work. I won't lie, I've fake DC'ed before, but only on parties full of douchebags who don't deserve me finding a replacement, lol.

I remember that fateful night in Garlaige Citidel... something about you "d/c" while I make the pull.. then I left 2 fights afterwards because "We are doing shitty without the brd, our nin isnt keeping hate, our whm never has mp, our blm has been afk for 20mins, and this is working out.. /goodbye"... That other damned war just sucked ass.

I'm amazed to get flamed for having a router problem..

You have failed to dispute all points of proof made against you.

I stated the problem I was having. no need to dispute. also I believe with that group I was main heal. which would explain all the healing (refering to your previous complaint) we had a WHM and I was BP'ing as per normal. And when the WHM had to go I took over. I'm done with this trivial argument

1. If it had been me, and my router had problems which caused me to disconnect on an entire party, the first thing I would do is apologize when I had the chance. I would really hate for a party to have to deal with finding a replacement, only having to wait 10 minutes to see if I come back and then possibly have to disband in the end because there are no replacements.

2. You still haven't addressed the part where you went AFK for a good 8 minutes, without a word and then came back, without a word. Again, if you're called away from the game and you can't take a half a second to type "AFK", but when you come back, usually the courteous thing is to apologize for the sudden "AFK status" and then give a short reason. Ex: "Hey i'm sorry I had to go AFK like that, had to run to the kitchen, stove was on fire".

3. Yes this was a flame, more directed at the fact that I really get annoyed with people that force d/c because they don't have the balls to tell the party they are ready to leave, but instead make them wait around thinking you might come back, and then when they have waited long enough, they try to look for a replacement but as often as the case is, can't find one and so the party disbands. Party disbands because of the person who forced d/c. That indicates that the player is selfish and has no remorse.

But it was also a way to vent at the fact that you inconvenienced the party when you had your d/c. If I were in your shoes, and my router really was at fault, then i'd be understanding of the party who would be upset with me because i'd potentially screwed them over.

4. If you read my post, you'll notice that though it sounds i'm convinced you did force your disconnection, I did mention that "it is possible he has an excuse" but that I said I find it highly unlikely given the circumstances.

But yeah, as Xean said you didn't really address anything in my initial post, which just leaves me with the impression that you're the type of player that does force d/c after they level.

I had this weird feeling like I was doing over 50% of the total damage...

Namahs is a good player. His ISP went down that night. Please do not assume things.

You know, for someone who likes to call people on stupid things like not quoting right, you messed up here:

Now stop derailing the thread.

Maybe you should read the OP's standpoint on the thread before you call Shyrra out on derailing it. This Flame isn't about one person d/cing or force d/cing, this flame is about force d/cing in general, and shyrra was admitting to have done it before, and I was talking about the party in which shyrra did it. At least read the flame and know what it's about before you call someone out for derailing the thread when you are the one who derailed it. Let's be honest, what does "You know, for someone who likes to call people ons tupid things like not quoting right, you messed up here: <insert the out of context quote of Shyrra typing "Off've"> (back to you now) Off have? Most people mix up "of" in place of possession "'ve." But you just did the opposite. Lmao." Quit being so hypocritical. Oh, and by the way, the period goes inside the quotation marks on " 've." not " 've".

I don't get it. A party with a SMN and RDM and the SMN thinks he's the main healer? My RDM was main heal from 50-75 lol.

Really, how convinient is it when someone disconnects right after they level? I had a PLD invite me and some others to a Marid party once, and he d/ced soon after he leveled. But what I'm really angry about is that a few days later he had the balls to try and invite me to another party. And when I called him out on his d/c he said that there was an emergency.
Guess your emergency could wait til you leveled, eh Redrockneo?

That just shows that he wasn't paying any attention to the party at all >.>

My friend Namahs wouldn't do something like that, he's better than a noob like that and is courteous enough not to do that. Looks like Keket already mentioned it, but I'll send you a PM anyways just in case you don't check back on this so you don't get the wrong impression of him.

He told me his ISP shut off on him for 7 hours after he d/ced and he was looking for you after that to let you know but never saw you again or you were afk or something.

Aside from that, those who force d/c are quite annoying too, but it can especially be annoying too when people assume those people force d/ced purposely and dislike them.

Now as for the OP's reason, that seems very valid and a good reason to flame someone for force d/cing, but perhaps the person's keyboard could also be giving out problems too, so they couldn't really type back either? I know the keyboard on my PS2 isn't really working properly, I have to hold the cord back sometimes to type, although I do what I can, tape it down or something so it will work.

If this person didn't really force d/c the only thing that geniunely could've happened was that they did have router problems so they decided to give up on it and leave the game alone for the night, and perhaps their keyboard stopped working during the pty. Yet they didn't back themself with this otherwise, so they fail.

Now if only we could sometimes force disconnect ourselves from the real world whenever we wanted to get out of something.... lol.

thank you for the PM. my apologies.

good point, but we're often left with our own impressions, the first of which is always lasting...however, in light of the PM and the messages about his character here (i duly regret calling him a "shitty blm" and "wishing he'd wake up with a buffalo tusk up his ass") i'm willing to lay down my preconceptions.

it's still annoying as all hell though when you're in the middle of a party. ISP probbos or not.

Yeah, that's alright, I know sometimes it's just the spur of the moment at first when something goes wrong to get mad about it. It's not too big of a deal :) I was just asking him last night when I saw him lvlling WAR 7 why he wasn't lvlling his BLM or BRD since he was working on both before.

He said he didn't like BRD and was taking a little break from BLM after being told that he was called a shitty BLM on the flameboard on QCDN, and I told him not to worry about that, he probably plays as a good BLM, only pty'd with him once back around 43 on my BLM, and I thought he did alright.

That's the crappy part about playing this game via the Net -.-

Too true. I can't even begin to start to tell someone how to play BLM at the 50-level range since mine's only 32 (I really need to level that again), but the only thing he did that made me jumpy was he pulled a lotta hate thru use of -aga's and he'd get hit by Whirl Claws (ftw) by standing too close to the melee's. Other than that, he was great at dealing damage...evidenced by his pulling mobs away, lol.
