Last week my roommate got ANOTHER Dog. A Dashound puppy 3 months old i think.

Now the first Dog (Also a Dashound) has these really annoying traits. Like it will stare from a distance while I'm making something in the kitchen, then when I'm out of the kitchen, it will go in there and scavenge around to see if i dropped anything. Usually It's good when I'm eating, but recently it's been pressing it's luck and seeing how close it can come to me while it resonates it's sad eyes. I swear my roommate must slip that dog some of his food cause the dog has gotten pretty fat. Other days i just want to kill the damn thing, cause i don't like Dogs near me when I'm eating.

Now the new Dog makes me feel like i love the first Dog. Sure it's cute, but it's more like a rodent than anything. We live in a 3 story townhouse, so we have plenty of space, but i don't appreciate it shitting in the house. The Dog has a shy bladder or something, cause it does not shit when my roommate takes it for a walk. He's out walking it right now in a snow storm. I bet I'll be picking up Dog shit this evening though cause the thing goes 4-5 times a day.

Earlier i watched it jog out of the kitchen, leaving behind a small puddle and liquid footprints. I can't believe this shit is happening in my home.

The Dog is still small, so it can't walk down the stairs, it can only go upstairs.

Today the thing was whiny just outside my room which is at the top of the stairs. So i go out there and i see the Dog looking down the stairs as thought it wanted to go down. It's already bad enough the Dog breached the barrier i made from 2 wooden chairs.

Now i don't know what got into me, but i slowly started pushing the puppy towards the stairs. It bounced on the first step, then it started rolling down the steps really fast. It was a nightmare, it looked like the dog was gonna break it's neck. It then catapulted, over the barrier i made, then when it hit the floor, it took off like a rat.

So i run down the stairs, i was really scared the dog was injured, but i found it wagging it's tail and it was no longer whining.

I enjoy living here, but i don't think Dogs belong indoors. I've gone a long way with the first Dog and we are even friends. But still. Dogs are nasty creatures.

Tell your roommate how you feel.

Train it.

How old is the first dog?

Dogs can be a pain in the ass to make them not shit inside the house. What you MUST do, is take it outside after it eats every time, as that is when it will most likely poop. It can take anywhere from a month to a year to make a dog house clean. No matter how much you yell at it for peeing or pooping inside the house, it won't know what it is its doing wrong, as dogs lack the ability to figure out why you are yelling on something they did long ago. As a rule of thumb, you need punish or reward the dog within a minute of it doing something.

As for the other behavior of staring while you make dinner or eating its a normal dog behavior. If you REALLY want it to stop, both of you need to not feed it in this situation. It'll think that what it did was OK and keep doing it. Don't yell at it, as it will think you're barking, which it can consider fun and start "arguing" with you. Simply tell it in a strict, deep voice to get out. Or simply say its name in the same tone, that usually works too once it knows its not supposed to do that.

This. Thats weak.

Obviously it wasn't a very decent barrier if a 3mo old puppy got by it. Just get a baby fence or some shit and put it on the steps. Also like Xali said, let your roommate know and let him deal with it. If its his dog and its shitting, make him pick it up.

Yeah i did, that's pretty much why i wrote this post. I wasn't expecting it to to fall the way it did. I figured it would have steped down, as opposed to rolling all the way down the steps. The Dog is ok though, it was a rather soft landing.

To Uzor: The first one is 4 years old in human years. It took him about a year and a half to be house trained. Last time he had an accident in the house was very long ago, and he was really embarrised about it. I really am fond of that Dog. I've been trying to resist liking the new one, but after what happened tonight, i'm sure i'll treat it like royalty.

Speaking of embarrassed, if my cousin's dog accidentally poops inside the house, he eats it up in an attempt to hide it.

OMG my dog does that too hehe

my dad train the dog that if he gonna go in the house, he have to go in bathroom, which he usually do. even if poop in the right room, my dog still get scold by dad when he find out. When we went out to shopping sometime he poop in the bathroom, and eat it up, when we get home, there was only 1 piece of tiny poop left lol.

Dogs are disgusting, moronic creatures. I love my huskie to death though. Will I ever own another dog after this one passes away? Doubtful. My house training days are over, I wouldn't ever want to start over again.

Something tells me you wouldn't like the dog that lives behind my house.

He'd probably eat you if you tried to push him down stairs, lol.

and thats small for a Great Dane, lol. I've seen them bigger than that. They're like freakin horses.

You need a bigger fence....

I love my dogs, sure the lil one ate a few of my controllers , but I "trained" her not to do it anymore.

My lil one once came to my door barking to warn me someone was outside and sure enough there was a robber. I jumped out and chased the mfer tiL he dropped what he had stolen. Too bad I couldn't catch up to him since he was already too far away ...when I started chasing him.

I'm a dog lover and always will be lol As for you knocking down that puppy, I think something in me would've pushed me to push you down as well haha...no offense ;)

Try not to picture it, it sounds much worse that it actually was, if we were that small and light, rolling down a flight of stairs would tickle. Still while it was going down, so many terrible thoughts flashed through my mind.

The Dog never changed, it still follows me around, and remains stationed near me wherever i am. I never wanted to love the Dog but damn, it's so gentle and for such a young dog it pays so much attention and it's shy, and it's very responsive. It's amazing, it's 3 months old, and you can already walk it without a leash, it just naturally rolls with the pack.

That Dog doesn't know many people, so me being one of the few it ever knew, it has it's ways of making me feel loved.

Last week i was like "WTF dude, you got another Dog ? WHY MOSSES WHY !!!"

So far it's been anywhere between 35 to 40 shits a week in the house, plus countless puddles of urine. I put toilet rolls on each floor accompanied by spray bottles of Method Brand all purpose cleanser with Grapefruit (4 of them in commission). It's disgusting, but for now i look forward to picking up the dry dogie turds, which i hardly ever see.

Dachshunds (I'm guessing thats the type you mean) are little buggers to train. Ours still piss in the wrong place, it's due to them being little stubborn bastards. I don't think it's right your flatmate bringing dogs in without telling you though. Also most dachshunds will never be able to go downstairs only up :(.

That's how it's spelled. Dachshunds. In my circle even though we know it's incorrect, we still say Dashound. Can't believe i said it here.

Yeah they are rated damn hard, if not the hardest dogs to train. Despite their appearance, did you know they were bread to seek and destroy Badgers ? I seriously cannot imagine them taking on something like that because the ones i know are so harmless.

You need to rough them up every now and then, and you need to take disciplinary actions despite how bad you may feel about it. Their not like Dalmatians, the Dachshunds will always return to being you're close friend, they are pretty hardcore under that soft exterior. I find them to be very specific with each person as far as training is concerned.

See my Roommate never disciplines his dogs like i do. For him the first dog will be locked on his masters food when he's eating in front of the TV. He's so tolerant of his Dog doing that, the Dog can sometimes touch the edge of his plate with his nose. When he does lose tolerance, he tells the Dog to move, and the Dog would just move back a few notches. When i see this i get really annoyed. But for the Dachshund, it's each t their own. The Dog knows he can't do that to me or else I'll deliver a penalty. I calmly tell him to move, and he'll move. When I'm eating, the Dog knows and he literally tries not to look at me, and when he does look at me when I'm eating there is tension between us. But he keeps his distance. That's how the Dachshund is. My roommate is afraid to fracture his bond with the Dog, but in truth the Dog sees him as someone he can be more level with, so he'll be more stubborn and beyond.

For the first Dog when he would destroy the toilet paper in the downstairs bathroom and also tear up the garbage in the bathrooms i would force the dog to stair at it. The second time i called him and when he seen his mess he tried to run away, but i chased him down and made him stare at it again, then i gave him a medium whack with a t-shirt. Nothing too hard, just something slightly aggressive, you'll only need to do this once ever. Shortly after the Dachshund will be you're friend again. Then when he messed up the bathroom again after that. I called him over. He would not come cause he knows. So i went to get him and he was frozen stiff. I then put him in the bathroom and shut him in there with his mess for 10 minutes and i listened very carefully. He barely moved. I opened the door and told him to come. He slowly walked over with his head down and his tail between his legs. Then i pated him on the head and gave him a lecture. It's all in the tones and what not. He knew i wasn't gonna whack him after awhile so he loosened up, but now he does not waste toilet paper or dig through the garbage.

Dachshunds. You gotta scold them. Some things they learn to never do again. But they'll always have that glitch for pressing you're buttons. It's really their way of asking. If you have 0 tolerance in that, the Dachshund will be very depressed.

This new Dog though. It's very different than the first one. At such a young age it's really not acting like a Dachshund. At the same time it's presence really magnifies how mature the first dog has become.

I have two shitzus and even though they're bastards I love em. The eldest of the two, Buddy is calm, pretty well trained but still has a habit to chew any and all toilet paper he finds.

My other dog, Fenrir, is a little demon from hell but he shows the most traits of my old dog, Gizmo so I tend to give him more attention. He likes to chew walls and sleep on my chest.

As for the pooping thing. There are puppy mats that you can buy for like 10 bucks. Some come scented to help train the dog to piss and shit there. Another thing is a spray. Now, I used the spray back in the day on Gizmo and he was trained after 2 days. I haven't been able to find anymore.

When training dogs I found it easier if you use a stern voice and ZERO force/violence. I yell at my dogs when they do something wrong and they know they fucked up. Or even when training them to go outside. Now, I just open the door and they go piss/shit and come back. They're very young too. Buddy is like 8 months and Fenrir is only 5 months.

If you don't want them getting into a part of the house do what people said, Buy a little fence. I did to keep them from shitting upstairs and when I take it down they never go up there(Unless I'm up there). Dogs are EXTREMELY smart and pick up everything you teach them. It just depends on how you teach them. Treat them like you would a retarded baby. Slow, easy, and with small words.

He looks like a nice Dog. If he wanted to he can scale that fence. If there was one like that on the other side of my yard, i would go see him from time to time.

I wouldn't like to pick up his shit though. My roommates father has a Great Pyrenees, just by seeing the Dog in a shitting position made me gag. All all puts the larger Dogs have the most upsetting shit. It can probably match elephant shit it's so gross.
