I've pretty much come to the realization that intelligence seems to be a dying trait in the human species. I can't turn on the TV, get online, or even walk outside without being assulted by idiocy and foolishness.

I'm not seeking attention here, not quitting, not going to another game or anything, I just want to express my frustrations...

I'm still on my diet, and it's getting harder and harder every day. I'm so tired of chicken and turkey, I'm so tired of fresh veggies and fruits. I would murder for a good plate of pasta. My weight loss total is 14 pounds lost, yet this diet is controlling my LIFE. I'm miserable right now. And I'm as frustrated as I've ever been. Worst of all, I don't want to eat. Even when I'm hungry. Food never controlled my life before this diet, but it sure as hell is now. I can't go to restuarants unless I order grilled chicken and vegatables, which I don't WANT. I don't want to go to movies, because I can't eat popcorn, I don't want to leave the bloody house anymore, because all my food has to be measured, weighed, seasoned with "Lite Salt".

I'm going to be getting a job at Frito Lay, as a Detail Merchandiser, (basically I'll be stocking chips in supermarkets) but...that is the last thing I would have wanted to do in this life. I feel like a failure for taking a stock job, because I know I can do better. But I don't even have money to pay my bills anymore, and all I do is just stare at all the things I could have, and want to have. My Father has worked most of his life as a stockboy for grocery stores, and...I never wanted to do that. I have so much more potential than that. So does my dad, but he's given up already.

I'm just having a really hard time getting through life right now, between my diet, the job, my neighbors, and so forth, and so forth, so, thanks for listening, I really don't expect any responce.

My take on diets is that they all work, till you return to normal life.
Weight loss and control is a function of a balanced food intake (none of this Atkins BS), and exercise.

There is no reason one couldn't be on a weight loss track and have pasta.

Other than that, as far as life goesl Quit wasting time in the virtual reality and really do take charge of your actual reality. If you want to, you can change it, "can't lives on won't street".

There are a shitload of programs out there to get you through college, or vocational training if that is what you want. It won't happen today, or tomorrow, and that is the hardest part, sticking to your plan even though the fact that it takes years to accomplish what you want makes it seem pointless.

Absolutely right. And sleep is the third thing that is equally necessary.
Diet, exercise, and sleep.

See the long term goal, Yomi. You know deep down that is where you want to be. You feel better already. Yes, it's a struggle, but keep going. It will pay off, and you might surprise yourself.

Well Sculli, I've said this before, but I'm not just on a "diet". I went to "Medical Weight Loss Center" (Who sadly do not have a website that I can find). The "diet" is a long-term plan on how to change your eating habits for the better, while losing weight and staying healthy.

I can have pasta if I really want it. A 1/4 of a cup. Which makes me feel like I'm training to be anorexic.

I would quit, and do something more suited to me, but my mom has invested over $1000 dollars into this, because she wants me to lose weight so badly.

My biggest beef with the diet programs is, I might be overweight, but nothing else is wrong with me health-wise. Why can't it be socially exceptable to be fat? Why is a woman only attractive is she weighs 100-120 pounds?! Society is so image obsessed that it makes me want to puke.

100 pounds?!?! Depending on how tall the woman is, and how many apendages she has, I'd say that's not enough. 100-120 is pretty nuts.
There are plenty of women another 40-60 pounds that constantly turn heads.

Also, muscle weighs 3 times what fat does. I dated a girl one time who was a diver, and quite the athlete. She was about 5'5", and 145. Solid muscle. Not big at all, but solid.

If you lift weights and help develop more muscle you'll actually burn more calories as well. For every 5 pounds of muscle you gain, you'll burn an average of 100+ calories more for every hour of exercise...Or something like that. It makes sense when I'm reading in my "office" anyway.

Also, your Mom has poured money into this...But you should do it for yourself. Maybe that sounds corny, but if you aren't doing it for you, because you want to, then don't bother.

I truly wish you the best of luck Kipsy. I too am getting fatter and fatter. I cant stop eating and barely excerise. I used o work in UPS in which I lost a lot of pounds. Right now I weigh 164 lbs and im only 5'4", Im fat.

Anyway, I agrea with sneak. if you keep doing this diet only because your mom poured so much money into it, it will most likely destroy you, physicaly and mentally. From what I read from your post, you seem to hate this diet. Then please dont do it anymore. Its only hurting you more and in hte long run might not even help out. I saw your pic in the album, and I did not see a "Ugly Fat Girl" like most of my superficial friends would say. I saw a girl with a Mandy in her hand^^ I dont know any girls in my school that like FF so I would give up any of the "Hot" preppy stuck-up girls to have one friend like you, Kipsy. A girl how likes Video Games too and Im sure is fun as hell to hang out with^^ Please reconsider this diet of yours. If you hated it so much, please stop. It will only hurt you in the end.

I SALUTE you Yomi....losing weight is not easy. I used to be a bit chubby, nothing too serious. I noticed this and decided to just stop eating fast food and soda.

The real deal came one morning. I've always been told that if a person wants to lose weight, they have to wake up one morning and say it. That's what happened to me, I woke up, looked in the mirror, and said HELL NO!

Since that day (sometime in September) I've been going to the gym everyday. I've lost about 19 pounds since then (don't let this make you think exercise is the best alternative, what I do at the gym might actually be bad for my body, but oh well! )

Yomi, all I can say is what sneakypants and sculli wrote that you just need to endure the pain and the results will be well worth your strife.
Please eat the healthy things that you are eating, I wish I had the willpower to eat grilled chicken. Exercise and sleep well. If you can hold out you will amaze everyone, and live a longer and happier life, and that is what everyone wants.

Not to flame or anything, but just because they put "Medical" in their name doesn't make it legit. Seeing that your mom dropped some $1k into the whole thing is another indication to me that it's nothing else but a different kind of Atkins, or NutriSystem or whatever other things are out there.

Loosing weight isn't easy, keeping it off is even harder. However, at the end of the day it's just an energy balance issue. How many calories does your body need in a day, and how many are you taking in.

I realize this is very simplified because a calorie from say simple sugar isn't the same as a fat calorie, or a protein one.

Again, you simply do not need to throw thousands of dollars at companies that make you stick to some certain way of doing things. If you read some books about nutrition, books that were written by people who research the subject for research's sake, and not for profit, then you will find that on a normal, balanced diet, a weight loss of about 1 pound a week is a reasonable, and achievable goal.

1 pound a week isn't much, but on the other hand you don't have to starve yourself to death, you won't be irratable and aggrevated, you won't have cravings that may result in binges, etc etc.

The problem is that in today's society waiting for something has come out of style. We all want instant results, and we tend to get upset, depressed, violent, whatever, if we don't get those instant results.

Obviously whatever I wrote is *simplified*. However, it's true nonetheless. I really think you need to step back, and think about what you want, what you really want, in life. Once you know that, figure out how to get there, and just do it.

Of course there will be hurdles to take, frustrating set-backs, chances are you will lose some friends along the way, but in the end, it will all be worth it, because whatever happens, you will pick yourself up and try again, and you will ultimately succeed, because there isn't a single thing that any one of us is not capable of if we really want to do it.

Sculli: It's not an atkins/nutrisystem thing. There's a clinic I go to 3 times I week to meet with a nurse, the diet is medically designed, and 1000 dollars wasn't for food. I really wish they had a website, so I could explain better. It's I suppose, something like weight watchers, but with doctors and nurses there to help you along the way.

And it's more like 3 pounds a week, not just one.

I really don't know how to explain that I know the place is actually a medical facility, so, just take my word.

Working with food might not be such a hot idea.

That said, keep it up, I'm rooting for you.

Sorry, I'm not very good at encouragement, that's as upbeat as I get.

keep it up ^^

Dieting is hard, although i've never tried it, but i hear a lot about it.

Sleep more? I dunno, but if you sleep more and skip breakfast that's one less meal, dunno if that's healthy tho.

stick through it Kipsy, it is difficult, but all things worthwhile tend to be difficult to obtain, no?

I'm no looker either, i used to be 180 lbs of mostly muscle, as i used to be a martial artist and train 5 hours a day after school. I wasn't defined, but i was strong. About 9 months ago i had to have surgury on my back that prevented me from walking, running, jumping......and even sitting or lying on my back. Because of that i went from 180lbs to 240 lbs. But i know one thing......i know that despite everything that stands in my way, i will do what i know i need to do. I will get what i want at all costs, and anyone or anything that stands in my way will fail. Try to keep this attitude Kipsy, and usually, positive thinking is the key. This much isn't some stolen proverb from a crappy book, it's straight from me to you, a lesson i learned from my martial arts training. Positive thinking is the key to most everything Kispy.....so keep your chin up girl, and stick with it.

As far as diets go....i have my own theory on it. Really the way everyone loses weight is specific to them, thus why there are so many weight loss programs. you more or less have to go with what makes sense biologically speaking. Excercise, eating healthy, and getting healthy sleep is what is biologically best for you, and will result (in theory of course) in weight loss. It may not be fast, but it will happen.

BTW - Kipsey is TOTALLY right about society's view on a woman's weight. It makes me sick. As an actress - there is MUCH pressure to be "underweight". In Hollywood, a woman who is 5'7 and a size 2 is considered "the chubby best friend" - which is absolutely RIDICULOUS and SICKENINGLY UNHEALTHY!!!!! It is so odd, because WHY ON EARTH is it the "trend" for women to have the bodies of prepubescent boys instead of womanly curves. ***WOMANLY CURVES RULE ASS!!!!!!!!

I say this with a bitter edge, because my entire family is overweight. When I was younger I struggled with rollercoastering between the same 10 pounds. I was never OVERweight - I had my chubby moments, but nothing big, but my self image - and always wanting to be in the entertainment industry....yeah, wasn't healthy. I was bulimic for about 8 years. From junior high until the first year of college. TOTALLY screwed my body up....mentally, I thought this was the only way to achieve my dreams, to gain acceptance, etc. Again, I was NEVER overweight - this was an illnes that I eventually overcame.

/comfort Yomi

I am a small girl now....but it is because I finally got wise and found something that actually worked for me. I read up on dieting and health and whatnot - stopped trying the various diet pills, and stoopped denying myself all that I enjoyed to eat. ***If you deprive yourself from the foods you enjoy you will never be happy - eating is way too much fun! Now I eat healthy during the week - and allow myself my guilty pleasures (in moderation) on the weekends. I can handle eating massive amoutns of apples and yogurt during the week, as long as I know I am getting pizza and bagels on the weekend. I also workout 4-5 times per week. I started out with ESCAPE YOUR SHAPE video's that combined cardio and resistance training, now I go to CURVES. <---the environment there is very positive and relaxed.

I know this sort of thing won't be for everyone, but it works for me.....it was a struggle to FINALLY find something healthy that worked for me.

<hug Yomi> You are a gorgeous girl regardless of your weight Keep looking for a program that suits you - and you will find one. ***AND if YOU are happy with your weight, then SCREW everyone else!!!!   As long as your healthy, your mom should be happy. Talk to her about that - she probably doesn't realize the pressure you feel.

I <3 Yomi

Sleep more? I dunno, but if you sleep more and skip breakfast that's one less meal, dunno if that's healthy tho.

Skipping breakfast is an awful way to lose weight.
By eating breakfast regularly, you kickstart your metabolism first thing in the morning. Your body will be used to that.
It's better to eat more in the morning and less later at night.
If you've neglected eating through the day, you'll find yourself wanting to munch on something late at night.

Yomi, I would rely on your EXERCISE as the first and best way to actually lose weight. Hopefully that is something the doctors are helping with. Try to get to bed at a decent hour. And I would prefer the word portioning to dieting. Although if you eat a cheeseburger 3 times daily, I'd be willing to flip-flop on that view. Seriously, listen to the doctors, but if it's not making you happy just don't even bother.

The way to the weight loss is a balanced, high energy (so you can go have some kick ass exercise) portioned neals, and sleep.

Good luck. Let us know how you are doing.

Yeah = portioning is key

*My mom is a caterer - she has always cooked really GOOD but really fattening foods. We would always get huge portions and be expected to clean our plates. Now, when in resturants, If there are 2 dishes that look good, I choose the healthier one - and take half of it home. Which saves me on calories AND grocery money - since I end up getting 2 meals out of it. <3

I saw an interview with John Travolta - and that is how he loses weight when he needs to - he eats half of what he normally would. So he'll eat 2 pieces of pizza instead of 4....this method also helped me a TON when I needed to drop a few lbs for a role.

I went through exactly what you are decsribing. This the mental part of your weight loss and may be one of your toughest challenges.

When I dieted I ate 5 times a day in "snack" portions so to speak but I pretty much ate all day. On the other hand I love vegetables so that part wasn't hard but getting over some of the blandness of food was tough.

Stick with it another couple weeks and you will be through this challenge and be ready for the next.

Eventually you WILL reach your goal and when that time comes you will have a much easier time maintaining yourself at that point.

Once you get to your ideal weight you NEED to maintain some sor tof physical activity to burn out those extra calories you may take in after you come off of your diet. Hopefully, you may run into what I did. After dieting over an extended period of time I actually got used to healthy food and I rarely turn away from that now.

Most importantly the motivation needs to be for YOU, You and nobody else. If you are not doing this for you, you are doing it for the wrong reason.

I garden year round and pretty much grow all of my own vegetables. This does a couple things for me. Believe it or not I get some good physical activity from it (350 sq. ft. garden) and I also know exactly whats going into my food that way.

Take a different approach to life you will like the change I GUARANTEE it. Healthy is a lot more fun and you can do more things healthy than you ever imagined.

Some of the things I did which I am sure you have done with that facility was set goals. Just like successful businesses and corporations you have to have a good plan just on a smaller scale.

Set your goals for:

1 Week- so you still get that result satisfaction
1 Month- something your can see better results without the ultimate wait.
3 Month- at this point with a good strict diet you WILL see results and fuel off of that. I used the different markers for motivation and just kept going and going from there.

Kinda like when you start to save money once you get to a certain point you just want to keep saving more and more.

Anyway this is my post of motivation for you today please at least read it and if you want take some of it to heart.

I did it and so can you.

Good Day,

Mohoso

Kipsy, I used to be really REALLY..... phrase guys, please, im struggling, uh..... vertically imbalanced? and I knew it. I recommend swimming kipsy, really helped me, best of luck!

I second this disgust with the view on fat girls, or just fat people in general, who really gives a damn if they want to eat, maybe they broke a leg and couldn't excercise, maybe they just like eating, fuck, I mean, it's none of your damn business if you don't know the person so fucking leave them alone, sorry, getting fueled here.

Anywho, there's this girl at school, I swear, she cant be healthy, there is NO fat whatsoever.

Well, thats my say, once again, best of luck kipsy!

but hey i have a god given advantage...

im... asian -_-"

almost 6 feet and 155lbs. :p i dunno if that makes me skinny or what >.< haha

Good call Lokkin. Swimming is one of the best exercises around. No impact and it works all your muscles and is a cardio workout. And you stay cool. :)

I used to be in the top 10 swimmers in Florida. I was never in better shape. However I swam a minimum of 4 hours a day ><.
Can't say I miss that much swimming, but it is excellent exercise.

shit.... 4 hours a day man... minimum... thats intense... i think i swim about 4 1/2 hours a WEEK with an hour land training
