Sure I can. I can expect people to show some restraint and not reply to something they find as an attack on their 'political' ideals in a serious manner. I would have no problem if people started posting jokes about both parties but once you start taking this stuff seriously you're defeating the purpose of what this post was supposed to do, to make you laugh.
