Im curious, whats going to happen when alot of us jump to the new game, I havent read too much on it but I dont think its likely we will all be on the same server, has anyone thought of what the plans are as far as this site goes? Or is it most likely going to end up being used the way it is now?

I was thinking to myself that QCDN would start getting alot of traffic when XIV comes out but with all of us on different servers, whats going to happen to some of the sections that made QCDN very popular (Event Scheduling, Flames, FFXI Discussion, LS recruiting and what not), or is the forum going to split sections for the various servers and attempt to dominate the world of FFXIV?

As long as SE keeps the same naming convention for their servers even in XIV, there's no reason to get rid of this site since it would be able to serve the same purpose as it does now, just for the new game. At best, there may be some restructuring to better separate XI and XIV, but that's all I can see happening.

I think most people plan on being on the same server if we can pick which we want to be on. Someone picks, we go to that server, and then QCDN will expand into more FFXIV and less FFXI. If we can't all be on the same server, then we'll have to see what happens from there.

Well maybe they will have the world pass feature again so the quetz members of 14 can nab us when the game goes live. I'd do it if that's the case.

I think even if QCDN decides on a pre-determined server when that information is released alot of us would choose that one to meet up with our friends from Quetz.

I'm not sure they'll keep the same server name theme. The alpha test server is called, of all things, Shadowlord.

I imagine that there would be a poll and a general consensus on QCDN when the time comes to attempt a mass occupation of a particular server. Though it might be impossible, depending on demand and how SE sets up server selection.

Hopefully one of the servers starts with a Q, that's all we really need to pick a winner right there.

Interesting thoughts, I was wondering if many people would want to all be on the same server, I for one am undecided if I want to choose or just end up in one randomly. One of the better memories i had of XI was not knowing anyone or anything, being completely new was fun and interesting. Going to a server where you know a vast majority would be much different than one where you dont know anyone at all, if thats a good thing or a bad thing, I dont know.

I don't mind if I'm on a complete new and random server with all new people. I don't need everyone from quetz to come over to that one server, but I'd be satisfied enough if I had a few close select friends on the same server as me. The rest is all about making new friends and starting over fresh.

Realistically we could only expect a certain percentage of the active board population to show up anyway. Maybe a few hundred people out of a server of thousands, so I doubt it would be all that earth-shatteringly familiar for most folks.

I agree with this.

Though, I wouldn't mind if it was all one massive server.

The server would mind, LOL.

I don't think that right now the FFXIV section is going to be geared based on a single server like we are with FFXI for Quetz. It'd still be possible to do things like Event Scheduling and AH, etc, just with subforums per server. We'll have to see how things look when the game actually comes out, though.

As long as I don't have Linh on my server I'm cool. Damn Mrs. Grammar

ya definitely. i think it would be nothing but good if we could all join one server. Its likely we wouldnt see that many people if we didnt want to, and it would be nice to see a familiar face here and there, ESPECIALLY those who have quit long ago but still look at the forums, and decide to play xiv.

I really hope something is set up for us all to end up on the same server. I feel that if something is not set up, there will be a lot of petty drama like "Pick which friend means more". I have friends scattered out through several different linkshells, some know each other and so do not. I would hate to be put in a situation where I have to pick which friends mean more to me and ultimately lose out on the connection I've made with people because we can no longer play together.
